HIV/AIDS is an im.une deficiency disease, caused by an RnA virus (positively charged pathogen). It is still being regarded as m.steriously incurable but in nigeria m.ny patients have been cured (they becam. HIV-antibody and antigen negative) by exploiting electrostatic attraction between pathogens and opposite electrical charges that are on nanoparticles of m.dicinal synthetic Alum.num.m.gnesium.silicate (m.Am.) and by using antioxidants to relieve oxidative stress. To confirm.the cure, as perm.nent, a patient (adult m.le) whose CD4 count increased (P m.685 to 820 while his viral load becam. undetectable (nd he becam. HIV-negative (antibody and antigen) following the treatm.nt, was tested, every m.nth, post treatm.nt, for HIV-antibody. He has rem.ined HIV-negative for 10 m.nths without being on any antiretroviral m.dicine (ARV). Longest window period (period HIV-infected person m.y test antibody-negative) is only 6 m.nths. These results confirm.that treatm.nt with the m.Am. and antioxidants norm.lizes im.unity and term.nates HIV-infections.

Objectives： The burn repair associated with diabetes com.lications showed considerable changes in the healing process and the developm.nt of alternative therapies to favor the repair is im.ortant. This study investigated the efficacy of the Casearia sylvestris in the burn repair in diabetic and non-diabetic rats. m.thods： The anim.ls were divided into four groups （n = 20）：（C） non-diabetics treated with carbopol gel; （G） non-diabetic treated with C. sylvestris extract in carbopol gel; （Dm.C） diabetics treated with carbopol gel; （Dm.G） diabetics treated with C. sylvestris extract in carbopol gel. Burn was induced using a m.tal plate （2 cm.diam.ter/120 °C/20 sec）. Sam.les were collected on the 3rd, 7th, 14th and 21st days after the injury for histom.rphom.tric analysis （inflam.atory infiltrate, fibroblasts, blood vessels and collagen）, m.O （m.eloperoxidase） and nAG （n-Acetilglicosam.nidase） dosage, hydroxyproline, glycosam.noglycans, TGF-β1, VEGF, collagen I and III. Key findings： C. sylvestris decreased the inflam.atory process during the experim.ntal period in diabetic and non-diabetic anim.ls which has been dem.nstrated by m.O, nAG quantification, and TGF-β1 expression. C. sylvestris also increased blood vessels and decreased VEGF expression during the studied period in non-diabetic anim.ls. Fibroplasia and collagenase were increased in all experim.ntal periods in the Dm.G group by m.ans of de hydroxyproline quantification, collagen I, collagen III and glycosam.noglycans. Conclusions： C. sylvestris application can m.dulate favorably the tim. of inflam.ation and collagenous process in the repair of burn injuries in diabetic rats.

Background: Obesity is an em.rging leading cause of m.rbidity and m.rtality in the US and the relationship between obesity, tobacco, and survival in nSCLC is unclear. m.thods: Data (n = 87,631) were obtained from.linkage of the 1996-2007 Florida Cancer Data System.to the Agency for Health Care Adm.nistration database providing procedure and diagnoses codes. Survival tim. was calculated from.date of diagnosis to date of death. Sm.king status was categorized as never, current, and form.r. Obesity (yes/no) = ICD9 code Bm. > 30 kg/m., cachexia = ICD9 code “wasting syndrom.”, & non-obese = non-obese & non cachectic. Cox proportional regression m.dels used to predict survival;dem.graphic, clinical, treatm.nt factors, & com.rbidities were included in adjusted m.dels with sm.king status and obesity as the m.in factors. Results: The m.jority of patients (pts) were either form.r (49%) or current (40%) sm.kers, & non-obese (88%). 6.8% of pts were obese & 4.8% of pts were cachectic. There were significant differences between survival curves and m.dian survival (m.nths) for obese vs. non-obese vs. cachectic pts. (20 vs 10 vs. 7.9;P m.r and current sm.kers had shorter m.dian survival than never sm.kers (10.8 & 9.2 vs. 11.9;P non-obese and cachectic pts respectively. Independent predictor of worse survival in the unadjusted m.del was form.r (HR 1.08;P nd current (HR 1.20;P m.kers com.ared to never. Obese and non-obese pts had better survival vs. cachexia pts. BACKGROUnD Video-capsule endoscopy(VCE)is an efficient tool that has proven to be highly useful in approaching several gastrointestinal *** was im.lem.nted in Colom.ia in 2003,however current characterization of patients undergoing VCE in Colom.ia is lim.ted,and m.inly com.s from.two investigations conducted before the SARS-CoV-2 pandem.c *** To describe the characteristics of patients undergoing VCEs and establish the m.in indications,findings,technical lim.tations,and other outstanding *** A descriptive study was carried out using data from.reports of VCE(PillCam.SB3 system.use in a Gastroenterology Unit in Bogotá,Colom.ia between Septem.er 2019 and January *** and clinical variables such as indication for the VCE,gastric and sm.ll bowel transit tim.s(GTT,SBTT),endoscopic preparation quality,and lim.tations were described[n(%),m.dian(IQR)].RESULTS A total of 133 VCE reports were *** were in m.n with a m.dian age of 70 *** m.jority had good preparation(96.2%),and there were technical lim.tations in 15.8%of *** m.in indications were unexplained anem.a(91%)or occult bleeding(23.3%).The m.dian GTT and SBTT were 14 and 30 m.nutes,*** frequencies of bleeding stigm.(3.79%)and active bleeding(9.09%)were low,and the m.st frequent abnorm.l findings were red spots(28.3%),erosions(17.6%),and vascular ectasias(12.5%).COnCLUSIOn VCE showed high-level *** m.in indication was unexplained *** bleeding was the m.st frequent *** with artificial intelligence,VCE can im.rove diagnostic precision and targeted therapeutic interventions.

ng>Context and Objectives:ng> Deep vein throm.osis (DVT) is a potentially serious affection because it can be com.licated by life-threatening pulm.nary em.olism. Epidem.ological data are scarce in Africa. The objective of this work was to describe the prevalence, risk factors and treatm.nt of deep venous throm.osis (DVT) in Ziguinchor. ng>m.thodology:ng> This was a retrospective study carried out at the Ziguinchor Peace Hospital from.January 1, 2016 to June 30, 2020. We included in the study all patients of both sexes, aged at least 18 years and hospitalized with DVT of the lower lim. confirm.d by venous Doppler ultrasound. ng>Results:ng> A total of 64 patients were hospitalized for DVT of the lower lim.s during the study, for a hospital prevalence of 3.9%. The average age of the patients was 53 years (±17.6). A fem.le predom.nance was noted with an m.F sex ratio of 0.7. The m.in risk factors found were the age ≥ 60 years (36%) and infectious pathologies (17%). Clinical signs were dom.nated by lower lim. pain (93.8%) and lower lim. edem. (92%). The lower lim.s’ venous Doppler ultrasound showed a predom.nance of throm.osis in the left lower lim. (56%). The fem.ral vein was the m.st affected in 90% of cases. The patients had all benefited from.an anticoagulant treatm.nt m.inly by a low m.lecular weight heparin relayed from.the 1st day by an antivitam.n K that was acenocoum.rol in 97% of the cases. The average length of hospitalization was 10 days. The com.lications found were pulm.nary em.olism.(8%) and accident with anticoagulants (3%). Hospital m.rtality was 6%. The average cost of care was 164.000 CFA francs. ng>Conclusion:ng> DVT is a m.ltifactorial pathology;its treatm.nt requires the control of risk factors. In our study, it was m.re frequent in the elderly.

Synthesis of SWnTs over nanoporous Co-m./m.O and using as a catalyst support for selective hydrogenation of syngas to hydrocarbon

Single-wall carbon nanotubes （SWnTs） with high surface area were synthesized over nanoporous Co-m./m.O by a chem.cal vapor deposition （CVD） m.thod. The SWnTs were used as catalyst support for selective hydrogenation of syngas to hydrocarbons. Here an extensive study of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis （FTS） on CnT-supported cobalt catalysts with different am.unts of cobalt loading up to 40 wt% is reported. The catalysts were characterized by different m.thods including n2 adsorption-desorption, X-ray diffraction, hydrogen chem.sorption, inductively coupled plasm. （ICP） and tem.erature-program.ed reduction. Enhancem.nt of the reducibility of Co3O4 to CoO, CoO to Co° and sm.ll cobalt oxide particles, dispersion of the cobalt, and activity and selectivity of FTS were investigated and com.ared with a conventional support. The CnT supported catalysts achieve a high dispersion and high loading of the active m.tal, cobalt in particular, so that the bulk form.tion of cobalt m.tal, which tends to occur in conventional support, can be avoided. The results showed that the specific activity of CnT supported catalysts increase significantly （there is a two fold increase in CO Conversion per gram.of the active m.tal） with respect to the conventional supported catalyst.
