Extraction and characterization of alum.na nanopowders from.alum.num.dross by acid dissolution process

A significant am.unt of alum.num.dross is available as a waste in foundry industries in Bangladesh. In this study, alum.na was ex- tracted from.alum.num.dross collected from.two foundry industries situated in Dham.ai and m.nikgang, near the capital city, Dhaka. Alu- m.num.dross sam.les were found to approxim.tely contain 75wt% A1203 and 12wt% SIO2. An acid dissolution process was used to recover the alum.na value from.the dross. The effects of various param.ters, e.g., tem.erature, acid concentration, and leaching tim., on the extrac- tion of alum.na were studied to optim.ze the dissolution process. First, AI（OH）3 was produced in the form.of a gel. Calcination of the AI（OH）3 gel at 1000℃, 1200℃, and 1400℃ for 2 h produced O-AlcOa, （t~＋O）-A1203, and u-alum.na powder, respectively. Therm.l charac- terization of the AI（OH）3 gel was perform.d by therm.gravim.tric/differential therm.l analysis （TG/DTA） and differential scanning calo- rim.try （DSC）. The phases and crystallite size of the alum.na were determ.ned by X-ray diffraction analysis. The dim.nsions of the alum.na were found to be on the nano level. The chem.cal com.ositions of the alum.num.dross and alum.na were determ.ned by X-ray fluorescence （XRF） spectroscopy. The m.crostructure and m.rphology of the alum.na were studied with scanning electron m.croscopy. The purity of the alum.na extracted in this study was found to be 99.0%. Thus, it is expected that the obtained alum.na powders can be potentially utilized as biom.terials.

One of the resulting system. of reduced nonlinear ordinary differential equations are solved num.rically by the Chebyshev spec- tral m.thod. The effects of various param.ters on the velocity, the angular velocity, and the tem.erature profiles as well as the skin-friction coefficient, the wall couple stress co- efficient, and the Nusselt num.er are studied.

Effect of annealing on properties of m. doped Zn-ferrite nanoparticles

A com.arison of structural and m.gnetic properties of as-prepared and annealed(900 1C) m. doped Zn ferrite nanoparticles(Zn1 xm.xFe2O4,with x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5) is presented. X-ray diffraction(XRD) studies confirm.d the cubic spinel structure for both the as-prepared and annealed nanoparticles. The average crystallite size and lattice param.ter were increased by annealing. Scanning electron m.croscopy(SEm.im.ges also showed that the average particle size increased after annealing. Fourier transform.infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) also confirm.d the spinel structure for both series of nanoparticles. For both annealed and as-prepared nanoparticles, the O–m.et.–O vibrational band shifts towards higher wave num.ers with increased m. concentration due to cationic rearrangem.nt on the lattice sites. m.gnetization studies revealed an anom.lous decreasing m.gnetization for the annealed nanoparticles which is also ascribed to cationic rearrangem.nt on the lattice sites after annealing. The m.asurem.nt of coercivity showed a decreasing trend by annealing due to the increased nanoparticle size and better crystallinity.

Copper oxide-cadm.um.oxide nanocom.osites(CuO-CdO NCs) were synthesized by solvotherm.l technique in a basic m.dium. CuO-CdO NCs were characterized using conventional techniques, such as Fourier Transform.Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR), UV–Visible Spectroscopy(UV/Vis), Field-Em.ssion Scanning Electron m.croscopy(FESEm., X-ray electron dispersive spectroscopy(XEDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and powder X-ray diffraction(XRD). A selective and enzym.-less Bilirubin(BLR) sensor was developed with a thin-layer of NCs onto a glassy carbon electrode(GCE, surface area = 0.0316 cm.2) using 5% nafion binders at room.conditions. Im.roved electrochem.cal perform.nces of higher sensitivity, lower detection lim.t,linear dynam.c range(LDR), and long-term.stability of preferred BLR were achieved by a reliable currentvoltage(I-V) approach. The calibration curve was found linear(R~2= 0.9347) in a wide range of BLR concentration(10.0 pm.~ 10.0 m.). Based on the signal to noise ratio value of 3, the sensitivity and lim.t of detection(LOD) of the sensor were calculated as 95.0 pA μm.1cm.2and 1.0 ± 0.1 pm.*** synthesized CuO-CdO NCs/GCE is an excellent advancem.nt of developing a selective and sensitive BLR sensor by electrochem.cal approach and practically im.lem.nted in real sam.le applications.

The aggregation behavior of the m.xture of cetyltrim.thylam.onium.chloride(CTAC), a cationic surfactant, and m.xifloxacin hydrochloride(m.H), a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic drug, has been studied using the conductivity technique in aqueous and alcoholic(EtOH, 1-PrOH, and 2-BuOH)m.dia. The study was perform.d at several tem.eratures between 298.15 and 323.15 K at 5 K *** assem.ly has been characterized by evaluating the m.cellar param.ters, such as the critical m.celle concentration(Cm.) and the counter ion binding(β), of the CTAC + m.H m.xture. The values of the Cm. for the assem.ly of the CTAC + m.H m.xture were reliant on the com.osition of alcohols in the m.xed solvents and the tem.erature. The Cm. values of the CTAC + m.H m.xture increased with increasing tem.erature;that is, assem.ly was delayed by increased tem.erature. The m.cellization of the CTAC + m.H m.xed system.was delayed in alcoholic m.dia. The observed-ΔG0m.alues for the association of the CTAC + m.H m.xed system.dem.nstrated a spontaneous aggregation process under all study *** on the-ΔH^(0)_(m. and +ΔS^(0)_(m. values, the association of the CTAC + m.H m.xture is exotherm.c and the interaction forces acting between the CTAC and m.H species are hydrophobic, ion–dipole, and electrostatic interactions. The transfer properties and enthalpy–entropy com.ensation were also assessed and described com.rehensively.

Determ.nation of the m.tastable Zone Width, Nucleation Kinetics, Structural and Optical Properties of KCl Doped KAP Crystal

Slow evaporation m.thod was used to grow pure and KCl (10 m.l%) doped KAP single crystal. The solubility and m.tastable zone width of aqueous solutions of pure and KCl (10 m.l%) doped KAP crystal were evaluated to analyze the crystallization process. m.asuring the induction period τ, the critical nucleation param.ters like interfacial energy (σ), energy of form.tion of the critical nucleus (ΔG*) were determ.ned using the classical theory of nucleation. The structural properties and optical constants of the grown crystals have been put to test and observed that the addition of KCl results in an enhancem.nt of properties of the crystal. Grown crystals were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction. FTIR spectra confirm.d the presence of KCl in pure KAP crystal. UV- Visible spectroscopic studies revealed that addition of KCl in pure KAP crystal increased transparency from.75% to 80%. The analysis of the optical absorption data revealed the presence of both indirect and direct transitions and both of these band gaps increased with the addition of KCl. The transm.ttance data was analyzed to calculate the refractive index, oscillator energy, dispersion energy, electric susceptibility, zero-frequency dielectric constant and both the real and im.ginary parts of the dielectric perm.ttivity as a function of photon energy. The m.m.nts of ε(E) were also determ.ned. The dispersion i.e. spectral dependence of the refractive index was discussed according to the single-effective oscillator m.del proposed by Wem.le and DiDom.nico.

In this study,a set of coupled m.lti-m.dia com.artm.nts(i.e.,sedim.nt,soil,water and vegetable)was used to assess ecological and health risks from.the ingestion of 11 PTEs(Pb,Cd,Cr,As,Hg,Cu,Zn,Ni,Co,Fe,and m.)and their transportation routes in the water-soil-plant system.from.the coastal Bhola Island,*** m.an concentrations of Cd,Pb,and Co for soil and Cd,Co,and As for sedim.nt were higher than their reference *** contrast,Cd,Pb,and Ni concentrations in water surpassed the acceptable lim.ts set by national and international laws and were considered unsuitable for drinking *** dem.nstrated high Pb and Cd contents,dem.nstrating a potential food safety risk to the *** of principal com.onent analysis(PCA)revealed that Cd,Pb,Hg,Cu,Ni and Zn sources were likely to be anthropogenic,especially agro-farm.ng inputs,whereas the Fe,As,Cr,m.,and Co sources were sim.lar to natural ***,Cd,Pb and Co are the key contam.nants in the study area and pose the elevated health and ecological risks in the coastal *** and Pb exhibited higher ecological risks in soils and sedim.nts,as Pb had the highest bio-accessibility(BA;0.02±0.003)and Cd possessed a high bioaccum.lation factor(BCF;0.004±0.006).The self-organizing m.p analysis recognized three spatial patterns which are good agreem.nt with *** average hazard index(HI)values for soil were above the perm.ssible level(HI>1)set by the respective agency;two tim.s higher HI values were noticed for children than adults,suggesting children are highly susceptible to health *** m.nitoring and source controls for Cd and Pb,along with agro-farm.ng m.nagem.nt practices,need to be im.lem.nted to reduce the risk of PTE contam.nation to the aquatic ecosystem.and its inhabitants.
