critical bone defects are considered one of the major clinical challenges in reconstructive bone *** combination of 3D printed conductive scaffolds and exogenous electrical stimulation(ES)is a potential favorable approach for bone tissue *** this study,3D conductive scaffolds made with biocompatible and biodegradable polycaprolactone(PcL)and multi-walled carbon nanotubes(mWcNTs)were produced using the extrusion-based additive manufacturing to treat large calvary bone defects in *** results show that the use of PcL/mWcNTs scaffolds and ES contributes to thicker and increased bone tissue formation within the bone *** and mineralization are also significantly promoted using high concentration of mWcNTs(3 wt%)and ***,scaffolds favor the tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase(TRAP)positive cell formation,while the addition of mWcNTs seems to inhibit the osteoclastogenesis but present limited effects on the osteoclast functionalities(receptor activator of nuclear factor κβ ligand(RANKL)and osteoprotegerin(OPG)expressions).The use of ES promotes the osteoclastogenesis and RANKL expressions,showing a dominant effect in the bone remodeling *** results indicate that the combination of 3D printed conductive PcL/mWcNTs scaffold and ES is a promising strategy to treat critical bone defects and provide a cue to establish an optimal protocol to use conductive scaffolds and ES for bone tissue engineering.

mitochondrial disorders are phenotypically varied, with serious clinical repercussions. Among them, there is the deficiency of combined oxidative phosphorylation of type 20, which occurs due to a.defect in the VARS2 gene. This article presents a case of a 2-year-old female with progressive myoclonic epilepsy and psychomotor regression, with refractoriness to multiple anticonvulsants. The diagnosis was only made after the examination was carried out. Therefore, this article highlights the aspects of this rare disease and the importance of the exome for the diagnosis of rare conditions.

Prevalence,genotypes and factors associated with HcV infection among prisoners in Northeastern Brazil

AIm： To determine hepatitis c virus （HcV） seropreva- lence and its genotypes, and to identify the factors associated with HcV infection. mETHODS： This cross-sectional study, conducted in two prisons （one male and one female） in the State of Ser- gipe, Brazil, comprised 422 subjects. All of the prisoners underwent a rapid test for the detection of HcV antibod- ies. Patient~ with a positive result were tested for anti- HcV by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and for HcV RNA by qualitative polymerase chain reaction （PcR）. The virus genotype was defined in every serum sample that presented positive for PcR-HcV. In order to determine the factors independently associated with positive serol- ogy for HcV, multivariate logistic regression was used. RESULTS： HcV seroprevalence was 3.1%. Of the 13 subjects with positive anti-HcV, 11 had viremia confirmed by PcR. Of these, 90.9% had genotype 1. A total of 43 （10.2%） were injecting drug users, and HcV seroprevalence in this subgroup was 20.6%. The variable most strongly associated with positive serology for HcV was use of injecting drugs [odds ratio （OR）, 23.3; 95% confidence interval （cI）, 6.0-90.8]. Age over 30 years （OR, 5.5; 95%cI, 1.1-29.2）, history of syphilis （OR, 9.8; 95%cI, 1.7-55.2） and history of household contact with HcV positive individual （OR, 14.1; 95%cI, 2.3-85.4） were also independently associated with HcV infection. cONcLUSION： most of the HcV transmissions result from parenteral exposure. However, there is evidence to suggest a role for sex and household contact with an infected subject in virus transmission.

We investigate the action of time-dependent detunings upon the excitation inversion of a cooper pair box interacting with a nanomechanical *** method employs the Jaynes–cummings model with damping,assuming different decay rates of the cooper pair box and various fixed and time-dependent *** is shown that,when the presence of damping plus constant detunings destroys the collapse/revival effects,convenient choices of time-dependent detunings allow one to reconstruct such events in a perfect *** is also shown that the mean excitation of the nanomechanical resonator is more robust against damping of the cooper pair box for convenient values of time-dependent detunings.

Introduction In Brazil,approximately 5%are born with a congenital disorder,potentially fatal without *** study aims to evaluate the relationship between gastrointestinal congenital malformation(GIcm)mortality,health indicators,and socioeconomic factors in *** GIcm admissions(Q39-Q45)between 2012 and 2019 were collected using national *** demographics,socioeconomic factors,clinical management,outcomes,and the healthcare workforce density were also accounted *** Surgical Workforce density and the number of neonatal intensive care units in a region were extracted from national datasets and combined to create a clinical index termed'NeoSurg'.Socioeconomic variables were combined to create a socioeconomic index termed SocEcon'.Simple linear regression was used to investigate if the temporal changes of both indexes were *** correlation between mortality and the different indicators in Brazil was evaluated using Pearson's correlation *** Over 8 years,Brazil recorded 12804 GIcm *** Southeast led with 6147 cases,followed by the Northeast(2660),South(1727),North(1427),and midwest(843).The North and Northeast reported the highest mortality,lowest NeoSurg,and SocEcon Index ***,mortality rates declined across regions from 7.7%(2012)to 3.9%(2019),a 51.7%*** North and midwest experienced the most substantial reductions,at 63%and 75%,*** significantly correlated with the indexes in nearly all regions(pconclusion Our study highlights the correlation between social determinants of health and GIcm mortality in Brazil,using two novel indexes in the pediatric *** findings provide an opportunity to rethink and discuss new indicators that could enhance our understanding of our country and could lead to the development of necessary solutions to tackle existing challenges in Brazil and globally.

Introduction: 68Ga-PSmA-11 is considered the gold standard in detection of micro and oligometastases in advanced prostate cancer, being used for therapeutic planning, as well as, potentially, for evaluating response to treatment. The development of ready-to-use lyophilized kit of PSmA-11 adds quality and safety to the routine use of this radiopharmaceutical and represents a pharmacotechnical challenge as it must preserve the integrity and specificity of the ligand. methods: PSmA-11 kit formulation was proposed, considering radiolabeling parameters and the preservation of the peptide during the lyophilization process, using mannitol as an excipient. critical temperature characterization studies were carried out using DSc equipment and the freeze-drying process was developed. The direct radiolabeling conditions were evaluated and standardized using 68Ge/68Ga generator eluate from two different manufacturers (ITG and Eckert & Ziegler). The radiochemical purity was evaluated by TLc and HPLc. Biological evaluation was carried out with lyophilized PSmA-11 to demonstrate the integrity of the peptide and preservation of biological activity after the lyophilization process. Results: Based on critical temperature characterization studies, the freeze-drying cycle was designed to reach a freezing temperature of around −40˚c and primary drying at 2˚c. Using 20 mg of mannitol, an intact and elegant lyophilized cake was obtained. PSmA-11 lyophilized kit was directly labeled with 68Ga eluate from 68Ge/68Ga GmP generators (ITG and Eckert & Ziegler) resulting in % RP > 95% at pH 4.0 to 4.5. The results obtained from in vitro and in vivo biological competition studies confirmed the preservation of PSmA-11 affinity for the receptor after lyophilization. conclusion: A lyophilized formulation (Kit) of PSmA-11 was successfully obtained, which preserved the integrity and biological activity of the peptide and guaranteed radiolabeling efficiency.

Assessment of alterability of basalt used for riprap by petrographic examination

All engineering projects consist of several steps, and one of the main tasks is to identify and characterize the most important features of rock types that will be excavated, crushed, or mined for any particular usage purpose, from a single residential building to major works of infrastructure. Laboratory investigation on engineering geology is thus conducted in order to determine the most relevant rock properties when designing structures such as mining shafts, tunnels, buildings, or reservoir dams to be built in sites associated with rocks. A wide range of laboratory tests is available, making the correct choice of test methods greatly relevant to determine the key property for the planned use of the rock. This paper is an illustrative case of laboratory testing of basaltic rocks to be used as riprap in a reservoir dam. It shows the important role of the petrographic study carried out to analyze the distribution pattern of smectite clay minerals. Test results are explained for the assessment of rock alterability, an essential aspect for the selection of the most suitable basalt variety for the envisaged conditions of use.

In this paper, we study the large time behavior of solutions of the parabolic semilinear equation δtu-div（a（x）△↓u） = -｜u｜^αu in （0,∞） × R^N, where α 〉 0 is constant and a∈ cb^1（R^N） is a symmetric periodic matrix satisfying some ellipticity *** an integrable initial data u0 and α ∈ （2/N, 3/N）, we prove that the large time behavior of solutions is given by the solution U（t, x） of the homogenized linear problem δtU-div（a^h△↓U）=0,U（0） = c, where a^h is the homogenized matrix of a（x）, c is a positive constant and δ is the Dirac measure at 0.
