modular Plaster Blocks with a Low Environmental Impact

Plaster is a binder which, compared with other materials as lime and cement Portland, can be considered much less aggressive to the environment. While, in the process of production, Portland cement and lime emits cO2, plaster emits molecules of water in the atmosphere. While the production of lime and cement Portland requires high temperature, plaster needs only 150°c. In spite of these environmental advantages, plaster is relatively little used in Brazil and in the rest of South America. An effort has been made to increase the consumption of this material in housing. In this work, a constructive system was developed using plaster blocks. This rationalized system looks for to reduce the manpower considerably, the times of execution and, consequently, the final costs of the construction. The basic components are three types of main blocks, and from these main blocks, sub-blocks are obtained, so that all the dimensions of the construction are achieved. All the dimensions of blocks, sub-blocks and construction are multiples of the base-unit, 10 cm, basic principle of the modular coordination. So, waste of material is avoided. The blocks developed and the constructions way are presented.

Knowledge of the chemical composition of mozambican spirits is extremely important because the studies of potentially toxic compounds have been a.determinant factor in quality control. The objectives of this work were to analyze and physicochemically characterize distilled sugarcane spirits and other raw materials from mozambique on the basis of the standards established by the Brazilian ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (mAPA). The samples came from five provinces of southern and central mozambique, provided by the owners of the stills in the localities of manhica, Xinavane, chókwe, massinga, mafambisse, Beira and chimoio. The four samples from Brazil were randomly collected from different regions of minas Gerais. The parameters analyzed were ethanol, methanol, higher alcohols, a.dehydes, volatile acidity, furfural, esters and copper concentrations. The mozambican spirits produced from different raw materials, compared to Brazilian spirits, contained very variable concentrations of the components analyzed. mozambican spirits are of much lower quality than Brazilian beverages and are not suitable for consumption.

Advanced field methods of carbon (c) analysis should now be capable of providing repetitive, sequential measurements for the evaluation of spatial and temporal variation at a scale that was previously unfeasible. Some spectroscopy techniques, such as laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), have portable features that may potentially lead to clean and rapid alternative approaches for this purpose. The goal of this study was to quantify the c content of soils with different textures and with high iron and aluminum concentrations using LIBS. LIBS emission spectra from soil pellets were captured, and the c content was estimated (emission line of c (I) at 193.03 nm) after spectral offset and aluminum spectral interference correction. This technique is highly portable and could be ideal for providing the soil c content in a heterogeneous experiment. Dry combustion was used as a reference method, and for calibration a conventional linear model was evaluated based on soil textural classes. The correlation between reference and LIBS values showed r = 0.86 for medium-textured soils and r = 0.93 for fine-textured soils. The data showed that better correlation and lower error (14%) values were found for the fine-textured LIBS model. The limit of detection (LOD) was found to be 0.32% for medium-textured soils and 0.13% for fine-textured soils. The results indicated that LIBS quantification can be affected by the texture and chemical composition of soil. Signal treatment was shown to be very important for mitigation of these interferences and to improve quantification.

Background: cystinosis is a multisystemic autosomal recessive deficiency of the lysosomal membrane transporter protein (cystinosin) caused by mutations in cTNS gene. Objective: This study summarizes the Portuguese experience in the diagnosis and management of patients with this rare disease over the past few years and reports recurrent mutations in the cTNS gene. methods: Unrelated patients from different pediatric and adult hospitals all over Portugal with non-nephrotic proteinuria, hypercalciuria, hypokalemia impaired proximal reabsorption of amino acids, glycosuria and hypophosphatemia, suggestive of a Fanconi syndrome and ocular problems, were studied. Intra-leukocyte cystine levels were determined and molecular analysis was performed, to determine the presence or absence of the 57-kb deletion in cTNS, followed by direct sequencing of the coding exons of cTNS. Results: From 1998 to 2017, twenty-one cystinotic patients were biochemically diagnosed. From the remaining seventeen (four deceased), eleven were studied for cTNS gene. Five out of eleven patients were homozygous for the 57-kb deletion (10/22;45.5%), and other five were compound heterozygous for this variant (15/22;68.2%). The other mutations found were p.Q128X (c.721 c>T;2/22), p.S139F (c.755 c>T;4/22) and c.18-21delGAcT (p.T7FfsX7;1/22). All of these seventeen cystinotic patients are in treatment. Approximately 84% are adults, 16% are young children, and 54.5% are kidney transplant recipient. conclusions: The authors would like to emphasize the importance of first screening for the 57-kb deletion since it is very common in our population. This genetic study is the first in our country and it could be the basis for future genetic counseling in Portuguese population.

Ubuntu： Alterity as a Perspective for Peace

This paper looks for deepening the connections among peace, intercultural dialogue, and communalism in the light of Ubuntu, an ethical concept that emphasizes the alliances constructed between people and the relations established by them, and is seen as fundamental to the African thought of the groups that adopt Bantu languages. It develops an original exercise in diatopical hermeneutics—-a methodology proposed by Raimon Panikkar, taking as the main goal to approach the Western ethical and political thought to the epistemic and ontological category of Ubuntu, recognized in the Zulu maxim umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu (a person is a person through other persons). It chooses as the basis of such study some contemporary thinkers as Lévinas, Bauman, Ramose, chuwa, Kunene, and Nussbaum, who show a common concern with reverting a context of war and disregard of the integrity of human beings, connected to an ethics of alterity, zealous of the values of conviviality and respect for the cultural differences. It reveals the political dimension of Ubuntu and the impacts of this conception on the process of facing the problems of human rights in post Apartheid South Africa. Grounded on such transdisciplinary reflexion, it tries to point through a path to the implementation of policies for peace based on interculturality and communalism within different cultures.

Urban cemeteries are increasingly surrounded by areas of high residential density as urbanization continues world-wide. With increasing rates of mortality caused by the novel coronavirus, sarS-coV-2,urban vertical cemeteries are experiencing interments at an unprecedented rate. corpses interred in the 3rd to 5th layer of vertical urban cemeteries have the potential to contaminate large adjacent *** general objective of this manuscript is to analyze the reflectance of altimetry, normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) and land surface temperature(LST) in the urban cemeteries and neighbouring areas of the city of Passo Fundo, rio Gra.de do Sul, Brazil. It is assumed that the population residing in the vicinity of these cemeteries may be exposed to sarS-coV-2 contamination through the displacement of microparticles carried by the wind as a corpse is placed in the burial niche or during the first several days of subsequent fluid and gas release through the process of decomposition. The reflectance analyses were performed utilizing Landsat 8 satellite images applied to altimetry, NDVI and LST, for hypothetical examination of possible displacement, transport and subsequent deposition of the sarS-coV-2 virus. The results showed that two cemeteries within the city, cemeteries A and B could potentially transport sarS-coV-2 of nanometric structure to neighboring residential areas through wind *** two cemeteries are located at high relative altitudes in more densely populated regions of the *** NDVI, which has been shown to control the proliferation of contaminants, proved to be insufficient in these areas, contributing to high LST values. Based on the results of this study, the formation and implementation of public policies that monitor urban cemeteries is suggested in areas that utilize vertical urban cemeteries in order to reduce the further spread of the sarS-coV-2 virus.

双丹口服液对体外培养心肌干细胞作用的研究

目的观察双丹口服液(SOL)对体外分离培养的SD仔鼠心肌干细胞(cScs)的作用。方法分离培养cScs,将培养的第2代cScs分为对照组及不同浓度1×10-1mol/L、1×10-2mol/L、1×10-3mol/L、1×10-4mol/L、1×10-5mol/L和1×10-6mol/L的SOL组。培养24 h、48 h后用mTT比色法检测SOL对cScs的影响。将10-2mol/L SOL组的细胞培养24 h后,用流式细胞仪测定c-kit+/cD45-细胞的比率。结果消化后的心肌组织3 d后,可见成纤维样细胞从组织块儿周围爬出,1周后可见小、圆、亮的细胞出现在组织块周围爬出的成纤维细胞层上。传代培养后,倒置显微镜下观察细胞形态呈较均一的梭型,可见cScs形成的"太阳状"集落。mTT法检测表明,与对照组相比,SOL作用后的cScs生长增殖迅速,当SOL的浓度超过1×10-3mol/L时,cScs增殖更为显著(Pmol/L SOL的细胞培养24 h后,c-kit+/cD45-细胞的比率达到0.976%,与对照组相比(0.301%),差异具有统计学意义(Pc-kit+的cScs,SOL对cScs的体外生长和增殖有一定的促进作用。

development of a Genetic Algorithm for Evaluating the Performance of Overhead Power Distribution Lines and Proposing Solutions to Improve Distribution Line Safety

This paper aims to present and discuss the use of a power flow methodology based on Gauss elimination method to evaluate the performance of distribution network taking into account the neutral conductor absence at specific sections, and a.development of a methodology based on GA (genetic algorithm) capable of evaluating alternative solutions in different bars of the feeder, in order to propose appropriate solutions to improve the distribution network safety. Besides the technical aspects, the proposed GA methodology takes into account the economic feasibility analysis. The results of power flow simulations have shown that the presence of single-phase transformers along with the absence of the neutral conductor at specific sections of the mV (medium voltage) network may increase the Vng (neutral-to-ground voltage) levels of the feeders involved, jeopardizing the system"s safety. On the other hand, the solutions proposed by the GA methodology may reduce the network Vng levels and improve the safety conditions, providing values close to the ones found before the neutral conductor theft.
