Case report of Cardiac Tamponade Due to Acute Chagas Disease after Misdiagnosis of Visceral Leishmaniasis Based on Serology

Protozoan diseases such as Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) have re-emerged in Northern Brazil and cases of Chagas Disease also occur. This VL increase leads to early therapy for the public. Confirmatory parasitological diagnoses in VL are performed by bone marrow or spleen aspiration, but ELISA, IFA or immunochromatographic tests for antibody detection are easily performed and can be used in the presence of clinical signs as confirmatory for specific therapy. This approach is successful in providing therapy and prevention of death in VL, but there is a chance of confusion with the emerging disease, Chagas Disease (CD), due to cross-reacting and similar clinical pictures, as in this case. Both VL and CD presented many asymptomatic or oligosymptomatic cases, complicating the picture. Our case report emphasizes these aspects. Positive serology, with an IIF titer of 1/160, and epidemiological correlation, suggests the diagnosis of VL and imposes antimony therapy. Despite the unfavorable evolution and signs of cardiac involvement, the presence of pericarditis and cardiac tamponade confirmed by the echocardiogram suggests CD. We reassessed the profiles of a suggested CD serology, the diagnosis was corrected and treatment with CD specific benznidazole. The good evolution started with benznidazole corroborates the diagnosis of CD and discards the hypothesis of double infection.

Ferric carboxymaltose for anemia in Crohn’s disease patients at a tertiary center:A retrospective observational cohort study

The deterioration of environmental conditions is the major contributory factor to poor health and quality of life that hinders sustainable development in any *** mining is one of the major industries that contribute to the economy of a country but it also impacts the *** chemical parameters of the coal,overburden,soil and sediments along with the coal mine drainage(CMD)were investigated in order to understand the overall environmental impact from high sulphur coal mining at northeastern coalfield(India).It was found that the total sulphur content of the coal is noticeably high compared to the overburden(OB)and *** volatile matter of the coal is sufficiently high against the high ash content of the soil and *** water samples have a High Electrical Conductivity(EC)and high Total Dissolve Solid(TDS).Lower values of pH,indicate the dissolution of minerals present in the coal as well as other minerals in the mine rejects/*** chemical and nano-mineralogical composition of coal,soil and overburden samples was studied using a High resolution-Transmission Electron Microscopy(Hr-TEM),Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(EDS),Selected-Area Diffraction(SAED),Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscopy(FE-SEM)/EDS,X-ray diffraction(XrD),Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIr),raman and Ion-Chromatographic analysis,and Mossbauer *** different geochemical analysis it has been found that the mine water sample from Ledo colliery has the lowest pH value of 3.30,Tirap colliery samples have the highest electrical conductivity value of5.40 ms cm^(-1)Both Ledo and Tirap coals have total sulphur contents within the range 3-3.50%.The coal mine water from Tirap colliery(TW-15 B)has high values of Mg^(2+)(450 ppm),and Br^-(227.17 ppm).XrD analysis revealed the presence of minerals including quartz and hematite in the *** analysis of coal mine overburden(OB)indicates the presence both of pyrite and marcasite which was also

The global outbreak of coronavirus infectious disease-2019(COVID-19)draws attentions in the transport and spread of Severe Acute respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SArS-CoV-2)in aerosols,wastewater,surface water and solid *** pathogens eventually enter the subsurface system,e.g.,soils in the vadose zone and groundwater in the aquifers,they might survive for a prolonged period of time owing to the uniqueness of subsurface *** addition,pathogens can transport in groundwater and contaminate surrounding drinking water sources,possessing long-term and concealed risks to human *** work critically reviews the influential factors of pathogen migration,unravelling the impacts of pathogenic characteristics,vadose zone physiochemical properties and hydrological variables on the migration of typical pathogens in subsurface *** assessment algorithm and two rating/weighting schemes are proposed to evaluate the migration abilities and risks of pathogens in subsurface *** there is still no evidence about the presence and distribution of SArS-CoV-2 in the vadose zones and aquifers,this study also discusses the migration potential and behavior of SArS-CoV-2 viruses in subsurface environment,offering prospective clues and suggestions for its potential risks in drinking water and effective prevention and control from hydrogeological points of view.

Nanocellulose: Effect on Thermal, Structural, Molecular Mobility and rheological Characteristics of Poly(Butylenes Adipate-Co-Butylene Terephthalate) Nanocomposites

The concern with environmental preservation is a very current and relevant topic. regarding polymers, the search for potentially ecofriendly matters has been the subject of scientific research. In this context, this work aimed to study the effect of adding nanocellulose (nCE) with 1, 3, and 5 wt.% on poly(butylene adipate-co-butylene terephthalate) (PBAT). Thermal, structural, relaxometric, and rheological assessments were carried out. Quantitative evaluation of PBAT copolymer by high field NMr revealed 56.4 and 43.6 m.% of the butylene adipate and butylene terephthalate segments, respectively. WAXD measurement on the deconvoluted diffraction patterns identified that nCE was a mixing of Cellulose I and Cellulose II polymorph structures. At any composition, nanocellulose interfered with the PBAT crystallisation process. Also, a series of new PBAT crystallographic planes appeared as a function of nanocellulose content. PBAT hydrogen molecular relaxation varied randomly with nanocellulose content and had a strong effect on the hydrogen relaxation. PBAT cold crystallisation and melting temperatures (Tcc and Tm) were almost unchangeable. Although Tcc did not change during polymer solidification from PBAT molten state, the sample’s degree of crystallinity varied with composition through the transcrystallization phenomenon. Nanocomposite thermal stability decreased possibly owing to the catalytic action of sulfonated amorphous cellulose chains. For the sample with 3 wt.% of nanocellulose, the highest values of complex viscosity and storage modulus were achieved.

Comparative carbon emission assessments of recycled and natural aggregate concrete: Environmental influence of cement content

This work examines the environmental and geochemical impact of recycled aggregate concrete production with properties representative for structural applications. The environmental influence of cement content, aggregate production, transportation, and waste landfilling is analysed by undertaking a life cycle assessment and considering a life cycle inventory largely specific for the region. To obtain a detailed insight into the optimum life cycle parameters, a sensitivity study is carried out in which supplementary cementitious materials, different values of natural-to-recycled aggregate content ratio and case-specific transportation distances were considered. The results show that carbon emissions were between 323 and 332 kg CO2e per cubic metre of cement only natural aggregate concrete. These values can be reduced by up to 17% by replacing 25% of the cement with fly ash. By contrast, carbon emissions can increase when natural coarse aggregates are replaced by recycled aggregates in proportions of 50% and 100%, and transportation is not included in analysis. However, the concrete with 50% recycled aggregate presented lower increase, only 0.3% and 3.4% for normal and high strength concrete, respectively. In some cases, the relative contribution of transportation to the total carbon emissions increased when cement was replaced by fly ash in proportions of 25%, and case-specific transportation distances were considered. In absolute values, the concrete mixes with 100% recycled aggregates and 25% fly ash had lower carbon emissions than concrete with cement and natural aggregates only. Higher environmental benefits can be obtained when the transportation distances of fly ash are relatively short(15–25 km) and the cement replacement by fly ash is equal or higher than 25%, considering that the mechanical properties are adequate for practical application.
