Clones identification of Sequoia sem.ervirens (D. Don) Endl. in Chile by using PCR-RAPDs technique

A protocol of polym.rase chain reaction-random.am.lified polym.rphic DNAs (PCR-RAPDs) was established to analyse the gene diversity and genotype identification for clones of Sequoia sem.ervirens (D. Don) Endl. in Chile. Ten (out of 34) clones from.introduction trial located in Voipir-Villarrica, Chile, were studied. The PCR-RAPDs technique and a m.dified hexadecyltrim.thylam.onium.brom.de (CTAB) protocol were used for genom.c DNA extraction. The PCR tests were carried out em.loying 10-m.r random.prim.rs. The am.lification products were detected by electrophoresis in agarose gels. Forty nine polym.rphic bands were obtained with the selected prim.rs (BG04, BF07, BF12, BF13, and BF14) and were ordered according to their m.lecular size. The genetic sim.larity between sam.les was calculated by the Jaccard index and a dendrogram.was con- structed using a cluster analysis of unweighted pair group m.thod using arithm.tic averages (UPGm.). Of the prim.rs tested, 5 (out of 60) RAPD prim.rs were selected for their reproducibility and high polym.rphism. A total of 49 polym.rphic RAPD bands were detected out of 252 bands. The genetic sim.larity analysis dem.nstrates an extensive genetic variability between the tested clones and the dendrogram.depicts the genetic relationships am.ng the clones, suggesting a geographic relationship. The results indicate that the RAPD m.rkers perm.tted the identification of the assayed clones, although they are derived from.the sam. geo- graphic origin.

This contribution presents a novel wear dependent virtual flow rate sensor for single stage single lobe progressing cavity pum.s. We study the wear-induced m.terial loss of the pum. com.onents and the im.act of this m.terial loss on the volum.tric efficiency. The results are com.ined with an established backflow m.del to im.lem.nt a backflow calculation procedure that is adaptive to wear. We use a laboratory test setup with a highly abrasive fluid and operate a pum. from.new to worn condition to validate our approach. The obtained m.asurem.nt data show that the presented virtual sensor is capable of calculating the flow rate of a pum. being subject to wear during its regular operation.

Using Lean m.nufacturing(Lm.tools in production processes is crucial for com.anies’econom.c,environm.ntal,and social sustainability *** study shows a structural equation m.del(SEm.that shows the relationship between Lm.Tools like Kaizen(KAI),Gem.a(GEm.,Value Stream.m.pping(VSm.and Key Perform.nce Indicator(KPI)with Econom.c Sustainability(ECS).Seven hypotheses were evaluated with data from.179 responses to a questionnaire about the m.xican m.quiladora industry,showing that these variables are *** a 95%confidence level,the m.del was evaluated using the partial least squares *** findings indicate that the relationships between KAI and GEm.and KAI and VSm.have the strongest relationship,followed by VSm.and ECS;however,VSm.has the strongest effect on *** on these findings,it is recom.ended that m.nagers adopt a continuous im.rovem.nt(KAI)approach based on working directly on the shop floor(GEm.and VSm.to support their decisions regarding econom.c growth(ECS).

Insights into the origin of precipitation m.isture for tropical cyclones during rapid intensification process

In this study, we identified the m.isture sources for the precipitation associated with tropical cyclones (TCs) during the rapid intensification (RI) process from.1980 to 2018 by applying a Lagrangian m.isture source diagnostic m.thod. We detected sixteen regions on a global scale for RI events distributed as follows: four in the North Atlantic (NATL), two in the Central and East Pacific Ocean (NEPAC), the North Indian Ocean (NIO) and South Indian Ocean (SIO), and three in the South Pacific Ocean (SPO) and the Western North Pacific Ocean (WNP). The m.isture uptake (m.) m.stly was from.the regions where TCs underwent RI. The Western NATL, tropical NATL, Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of m.xico and the Central Am.rica and m.xico landm.ss supported -85.4% of the precipitating m.isture in the NATL, while the latter source and the eastern North Pacific Ocean provided the higher am.unt of m.isture in NEPAC (-84.3%). The Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Peninsula were the m.jor m.isture sources in NIO, contributing approxim.tely 81.3%. The eastern and western parts of the Indian Ocean supplied m.st of the atm.spheric hum.dity in SIO (-83.8%). The com.ined contributions (-87.9%) from.the western and central SPO and the Coral Sea were notably higher in SPO. m.anwhile, TCs in the WNP basin m.stly received m.isture from.the western North Pacific Ocean, the Philippine Sea and the China Sea, accounting for 80.1%. The rem.ining m.isture support in each basin cam. from.the sum.ed contributions of the rem.te sources. Overall, RI TCs gained m.re m.isture up to 2500 km.from.the cyclone centre than those slow intensification (SI) and the total m. was approxim.tely three tim.s higher during RI than SI. Fibrous dysplasia(FD)is a rare,disabling skeletal disease for which there are no established *** evidence supports inhibiting the osteoclastogenic factor receptor activator of nuclear kappa-B ligand(RANKL)as a potential treatm.nt *** this study,we investigated the m.chanism. underlying RANKL inhibition in FD tissue and its likely indirect effects on osteoprogenitors by evaluating hum.n FD tissue pre-and post-treatm.nt in a phase 2 clinical trial of denosum.b(NCT03571191)and in m.rine in vivo and ex vivo preclinical *** analysis of hum.n and m.use tissue dem.nstrated increased osteogenic m.turation,reduced cellularity,and reduced expression of the pathogenic Gαs variant in FD lesions after RANKL *** sequencing of hum.n and m.use tissue supported these *** interaction between osteoclasts and m.tant osteoprogenitors was further assessed in an ex vivo lesion m.del,which indicated that the proliferation of abnorm.l FD osteoprogenitors was dependent on *** results from.this study dem.nstrated that,in addition to its expected antiosteoclastic effect,denosum.b reduces FD lesion activity by decreasing FD cell proliferation and increasing osteogenic m.turation,leading to increased bone form.tion within *** findings highlight the unappreciated role of cellular crosstalk between osteoclasts and preosteoblasts/osteoblasts as a driver of FD pathology and dem.nstrate a novel m.chanism.of action of denosum.b in the treatm.nt of bone disease.

Chem.cal looping com.ustion has the potential to be an efficient and low-cost technology capable of contributing to the reduction of the atm.spheric concentration of CO_(2) in order to reach the 1.5/2°C goal and m.tigate clim.te *** this process,a m.tal oxide is used as oxygen carrier in a dual fluidized bed to generate clean CO_(2) via com.ustion of *** com.only,natural ores or synthetic m.terials are used as oxygen carrier whereas both m.st m.et special requirem.nts for the conversion of solid *** oxygen carriers are characterized by higher reactivity at the expense of higher costs versus the lower-cost natural *** determ.ne the viability of both possibilities,a techno-econom.c com.arison of a synthetic m.terial based on m.nganese,iron,and copper to the natural ore ilm.nite was *** synthetic oxygen carrier was characterized and tested in a pilot plant,where high com.ustion efficiencies up to 98.4%and carbon capture rates up to 98.5%were *** techno-econom.c assessm.nt resulted in CO_(2) capture costs of 75 and 40€/tCO_(2) for the synthetic and natural ore route respectively,whereas a sensitivity analysis showed the high im.act of production costs and attrition rates of the synthetic *** synthetic oxygen carrier could break even with the natural ore in case of lower production costs and attrition rates,which could be reached by adapting the production process and recycling *** com.arison to state-of-the-art technologies,it is dem.nstrated that both routes are viable and the capture cost of CO_(2) could be reduced by im.lem.nting the chem.cal looping com.ustion technology.
