This study aimed review studies conducted on Mexican patients diagnosed with gastric cancer and/or diseases associated with its development,in which at least one Mexican institute has participated,and to assess their contributions to the primary and secondary prevention of this disease.A search of the Medline database was conducted using the following keywords:gastric/stomach cancer,*** of the Mexican population were selected in which at least one Mexican Institute had participated and where the findings could support public policy proposals directed towards the primary or secondary prevention of gastric *** the148 studies found in the Medline database,100 were discarded and 48 were *** to the analysis presented,these studies were classified as:epidemiology of gastric cancer(5/48);risk factors and protectors relating to gastric cancer(9/48);relationship between Helicobacter pylori and pathologies associated with gastric cancer and the development of the disease(16/48);relationship between the Epstein-Barr virus and pathologies associated with gastric cancer and the development of the disease(3/48);molecular markers for the development of diseases associated with gastric cancer and gastric cancer(15/48).Mexico requires a program for the prevention and control of gastric cancer based on national health *** should be produced by a multidisciplinary committee of experts who can propose actions that are relevant in the current national *** few studies of gastric cancer conducted on the Mexican population in national institutes highlight the poor connection that currently exists between the scientific community and the health sector in terms of resolving this health *** policies for health research should support projects with findings that can be translated into benefits for the *** review serves to identify national research groups studying gastric cancer in the Mexican population.

The calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT) is a rare and benign odontogenic epithelial neoplasm. This tumor accounts for less than 1% of all odontogenic tumors. It normally affects patients between 30 and 50 years old, and it is typically located in the posterior region of the mandible. Involvement of the maxillary sinus has previously been published only in six cases. This report presents a single case of CEOT that invades the maxillary sinus in a 69-year-old male. We performed a left partial maxillectomy and immediate reconstruction of the defect with a temporalis muscle flap. A comprehensive immunohistochemical study was reported. No recurrences have been found after 8 years of follow-up.

Background: Several animal models, including dogs, have been useful to compare the pathogenesis of mammary neoplasm in humans, showing biological parallelism in the growth and development of breast cancer. The causes of cancer could be attributed to change in several tumor suppressor genes. The relationship between molecule associated to senescence and clinical prognosis of patients affected by mammary cancer is little known. Beyond a collection of data, the major interest of the present study was to carry out a clinical follow-up of patients affected by these tumors, through association with new molecular markers by immunohistochemical technic. Upon completing the study, 15 patients survived, while 45 died. In the case of malignant neoplasms, 40 patients died because of the illness. The type of surgery most used by veterinarian surgeons was the simple lumpectomy, followed by the regional mastectomy. Sentinel node was removed by surgery only when clearly affected. Result: Markings against steroid hormones were positive. Regarding the markings against HER2 and Ki-67, they were negative in all cases. The markings against P53 and CD31 were all positives. Markings against molecules associated with cellular senescence were all positives. No statistical differences were found in immunomarcation for the different antigens used as clinical prognosis factors in mammary neoplasms. Conclusions: According to the study conditions, the survival of patients affected by breast tumors is directly related to diagnosis and malignancy histological grade, but not to animal breed, number of affected glands or patient reproductive status. On the other hand, immunohistochemical markings were not related to the patient prognosis. For this reason, it is important to highlight the persistance of a high percentage of mammary neoplasm cases clinically diagnosed with poor results on patient survival. A mathematical model is developed based on a simplified mechanism of anaerobic digestion. The main objective is to quantitatively analyze the digestion process to optimize operating conditions and maintenance of this equipment, which could be used to test different materials and be able to apply these results to the possible scaling to bio-digesters installed in the field. The experiments were carried out in a hybrid system bio-digester photovoltaic cells. The bio-digester is made of stainless steel with dimensions to treat an average of 10 kg of raw material and produce biogas from different organic materials. The reactor has been conditioned with temperature sensors, pressure and methane gas that allow monitoring the concentration of the gas and the conditions of operation during the time of digestion. The system has a photovoltaic array to provide the energy required to keep the temperature constant, The experiment was conducted using materials such as goat manure mixed with household waste, and various formulations of these materials were prepared. The experimental results were used to test the mathematical model.

AIM：To compare the effect of phacoemulsification on intraocular pressure（IOP）in patients with primary open angle glaucoma（POAG）and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma（PXG）.METHODS：A retrospective comparative case series conducted at the Glaucoma Department at the Association to Prevent Blindness in *** study enrolled consecutive patients having phacoemulsification with intraocular lens（IOL）implantation and a diagnosis of POAG or *** about IOP values and number of glaucoma medications used was collected at baseline,1,3,6 and12mo ***：The study enrolled 88 patients（88 eyes）.After phacoemulsification,there was a statistically significant reduction in IOP values and glaucoma medications use compared to baseline in both POAG and PXG patients（P〈0.001）.In the POAG group,a 20%decrease in IOP values was evidenced,and a 56.5%reduction in the number of medications used at the one-year *** PXG group showed a 20.39%,and a 34.46%decrease in IOP and number of medications used,respectively.A significant difference in the meanΔIOP（postoperative changes in IOP）was evidenced between groups（P=0.005）.The reduction of the postsurgical IOP mean values in both groups,the POAG group showed a greater reduction in IOP values compared to the PXG ***：In both types of glaucoma,phacoemulsification cataract surgery can result in a significant IOP reduction（20%）over a 12mo follow-up *** number of medications used is also significantly reduced up to 12mo after surgery,especially in the PXG group.

Enhanced Ferromagnetism in ZnO Nanoribbons and Clusters Passivated with Sulfur

Inspired by recent experimental results,the electronic and magnetic properties of sulfur-passivated ZnO clusters and zigzag nanoribbons have been studied using fi rst principles calculations in the framework of the local spin density *** the case of the ZnO nanoribbons,the sulfur atoms or thiol groups were attached in different ways to the zinc or oxygen atoms located at the edges,whereas in clusters,the sulfur atoms were set on the surface,mainly interacting with atoms with low-coordinate *** an exhaustive atomic relaxation,we found that a magnetic moment emerges in zigzag nanoribbons both with and without sulfur-passivation on the ***,the magnitude of the magnetic moment is very sensitive to sulfur *** particular,we found that when sulfur is attached to the zinc atoms in an alternating fashion along the ribbon edges,the magnetic moment is a maximum(1.4μB/unit cell).In the case of clusters,we found that the Zn_(15)O_(15) cluster exhibits a high spin moment of 5.5μB when capped with sulfur *** calculations indicate that sulfur-passivating of ZnO nanosystems could be responsible for recently observed ferromagnetic responses.
