Anti-inflammatory effects of mangifera indica *** in a model of colitis

AIm:To investigate the effect of aqueous extract from mangifera indica L.(mIE)on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in ***:mIE(150 mg/kg)was administered in two different protocols:(1)rectally,over 7 d at the same time as DSS administration;and(2)once daily over 14 d (by oral gavage,7 d before starting DSS,and rectally for 7 d during DSS administration).General observations of clinical signs were ***-inflammatory activity of mIE was assessed by myeloperoxidase(mPO)activity. Colonic lipid peroxidation was determined by measuring the levels of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS).Reduced glutathione(GSH)levels,expression of inflammatory related mediators[inducible isoforms of nitric oxide synthase(inOS)and cyclooxygenase (COX)-2,respectively]and cytokines[tumor necrosis factor(TnF)-αand TnF receptors 1 and 2]in colonic tissue were also ***(IL)-6 and TnF-α serum levels were also measured. RESULTS:The results demonstrated that mIE has anti-inflammatory properties by improvement of clinical signs,reduction of ulceration and reduced mPO activity when administered before *** addition,administration of mIE for 14 d resulted in an increase in GSH and reduction of TBARS levels and inOS,COX-2, TnF-αand TnF R-2 expression in colonic tissue,and a decrease in IL-6 and TnF-αserum levels. COnCLUSIOn:mIE has anti-inflammatory activity in a DSS-induced rat colitis model and preventive administration(prior to DSS)seems to be a more effective protocol.

IEEE 802.11ah is a new Wi-Fi standard for sub-1Ghz communications,aiming to address the challenges of the Internet of Things(IoT).Significant changes in the legacy 802.11 standards have been proposed to improve the network performance in high contention scenarios,the most important of which is the Restricted Access Window(RAW)*** mechanism promises to increase the throughput and energy efficiency by dividing stations into different *** this scheme,only the stations belonging to the same group may access the channel,which reduces the collision probability in dense ***,the standard does not define the RAW grouping *** this paper,we develop a new mathematical model based on the renewal theory,which allows for tracking the number of transmissions within the limited RAW slot contention period defined by the *** then analyze and evaluate the performance of RAW *** also introduce a grouping scheme to organize the stations and channel access time into different groups within the ***,we propose an algorithm to derive the RAW configuration parameters of a throughput maximizing grouping *** additionally explore the impact of channel errors on the contention within the time-limited RAW slot and the overall RAW optimal *** presented analytical framework can be applied to many other Wi-Fi standards that integrate periodic channel *** simulations using the mATLAB software validate the analytical model and prove the effectiveness of the proposed RAW configuration scheme.

In simulations of fluidized beds using computational fluid dynamics （CFD）, the description of gas-solid flow hydrodynamics relies on a drag model to account for the momentum transfer between gas and solid phases. Although several studies of drag models have been published, there have been few investigations of the application of lattice Boltzmann method （LBm）-based drag models to bubbling fluidized bed simu- lations. In the present study, a comprehensive comparison of empirical and LBm-based drag models was carried out to assess the performance of these models during simulations of gas-solid flow hydrodynam- ics in a bubbling fluidized bed. A CFD model using the mFIX code based on the Eulerian-Eulerian approach and the kinetic theory of granular flow was used to simulate a 2D bubbling fluidized bed with Geldart B particles. The simulation results were validated by comparison with experimental data. Statistical anal- ysis of the results shows that LBm-based drag models can reliably model gas-solid flow hydrodynamics in a bubbling fluidized bed.

Persistence of hepatitis B virus-DnA in the sera,peripheral blood mononuclear cells or in the liver of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg) -negative patients with or without serological markers of previous exposure(antibodies to HBsAg and/or to HB-core antigen) defines the entity called occult hepatitis B infection(OBI).Co-infection with hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses is frequent in highly endemic *** this co-infection increases the risk of liver disease progression,development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma and also increases the rate of therapeutic failure to interferon-based treatments than either virus alone,a potentially negative effect of OBI on clinical outcomes and of therapeutic response to current antiviral regimes of patients with chronic hepatitis C remains inconclusive.

A paper, ＂non-existence of Shilnikov chaos in continuous-time systems＂ was published in the journal Applied mathematics and mechanics （English Edition）. The authors gave sufficient conditions for the non-existence of homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits in an nth-order autonomous system. Unfortunately, we show in this comment that the proof presented is erroneous and the result is invalid. We also provide two counterexamples of the wrong criterion stated by the authors.

Objectives To evaluate whether there is an association between the serum levels of the novel insulin-like adipokine isthmin-1(ISm1)and obesity-related phenotypes in a population of Spanish children and to investigate the plausible molecular alterations behind the alteration of the serum levels of this protein in children with *** The study population is a sub-cohort of the PUBmEP research project,consisting of a cross-sectional population of 119 pubertal children with overweight(17 boys,19 girls),obesity(20 boys,25 girls),and normal weight(17 boys,21 girls).All subjects were classified into experimental groups according to their sex,obesity,and insulin resistance(IR)*** were counted anthropometry,glucose and lipid metabolism,inflammation and cardiovascular biomarkers as well as isthmin-1(ISm1)serum *** population was intended as a discovery population to elucidate the relationship between obesity and ISm1 levels in ***,the study population had blood whole-genome DnA methylation examined,allowing deepening into the obesity–ISm1 molecular *** Higher serum ISm1 levels were observed in boys with obesity than in normal weight(P=0.004)and overweight(P=0.007)***1 serum levels were positively associated with body mass index(BmI)Z-score(P=0.005)and fat mass(P=0.058)and negatively associated with myeloperoxidase(mPO)(P=0.043)in *** we did not find associations between ISm1 serum levels and metabolic outcomes in girls,which may indicate a putative sexual dimorphism,fat mass was positively associated in all children,including boys and girls(P=0.011).DnA methylation levels in two-enhancer-related CpG sites of ISm1(cg03304641 and cg14269097)were associated with serum levels of ISm1 in *** ISm1 is associated with obesity in boys at the pubertal stage,elucidating how this protein might be of special relevance as a new biomarker of obesity in *** studies including a longitudina
