Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a neglected tropical skin endemic disease, with worldwide distribution. By 2020 in the Americas, Mexico was in 12th place with 11 states reporting new cases. Molecular biology with different targets for diagnosis and species identification has been used for decades, also dermoscopy, a non-invasive diagnostic tool has shown its usefulness. We present the first case of cutaneous leishmaniasis in non-endemic place (Guerrero, Mexico) identifying Leishmania mexicana with molecular biology, and treated with itraconazole.

The frequent occurrence of seismic events in Italy poses a strategic problem that involves either the culture of preservation of historical heritage or the civil protection action aimed to reduce the risk to people and goods(buildings,bridges,dams,slopes,etc.).Most of the Italian architectural heritage is vulnerable to earthquakes,identifying the vulnerability as the inherent predisposition of the masonry building to suffer damage and collapse during an *** fact,the structural concept prevailing in these ancient masonry buildings is aimed at ensuring prevalent resistance to vertical gravity *** do these ancient masonry structures offer relevant resistance to actions other than vertical ones and then they are intrinsically vulnerable to stresses induced by the *** of the main technical activities carried out by the Civil Protection after an earthquake is to assess the damage in the buildings and to evaluate their own *** historical buildings,ad-hoc synthetic forms,drafted in agreement between the Italian Civil Protection Department and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and based on visual inspection,are adopted by qualified *** this paper,such activities are described and discussed along with the Italian Civil Protection ***,given the complexity of the main technical activities to be performed after an earthquake there is a need for more accurate methods based on Structural Health Monitoring.

The transition to flowering marks the initiation of reproductive compete nee in plants. After the floral transit! on, the shoot apical meristem (SAM) ceases to produce leaf primordia and starts to gen erate floral primordia, the reproductive organs of plants. To maximize reproductive success, the timing of this transition needs to be precisely aligned with the most favorable environmental conditions (Blackman, 2017). Day length and cold temperature variations usually act as predictable seasonal signals to initiate flowering. However, due to the complexity of natural conditions, plants must gage a much wider array of information before committing to reproductive development. A striking example of this developmental plasticity is the drought escape (DE) response, where drought conditions experieneed during vegetative growth cause an accelerated flowering time compared with optimal watering conditio ns (Figure 1A). Among the strategies to cope with drought stress, DE may provide ephemeral plants like Arabidopsis with a simple "exit strategy" to anticipate seed set before drought conditions become incompatible with their survival.

Dear Editor, Carcinoid tumors have been described in a large range of organs, but they most commonly involve the gastrointestinal and bronchopulmonary systems.1 These tumors of the testis are rare entity comprising 〈1% of all testis tumors and can arise as a metastasis from an extratesticular primary as a part of a teratoma or as primary tumor.2 Patients affected by carcinoid tumors present symptoms of carcinoid syndrome, such as diarrhea, flushings, and bronchospasm.3 We report a first case described in scientific literature of primary bilateral synchronous testicular carcinoid tumor that does not associated with carcinoid syndrome. In the petrochemical industry,separation of oil from water is a very important *** produce mixtures of gas,oil,and water which undergo a primary stage of separation inside horizontal gravity *** performance of these vessels is evaluated by measuring mean residence time(MRT)and residence time distribution(RTD).Although many researchers studied flow characteristics in horizontal separators,limited number of articles exist that discuss separator MRT and RTD with varying *** this article,the authors study an experiment using a horizontal gravity separator by previous researchers and perform computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations on the same geometry under similar *** simulation results show qualitative agreement with the experiments by previous *** shown by experiments before,CFD results showed that MRT of the organic phase increased with increase in *** addition,the RTD characteristics show very similar trends between CFD and experimental results.

The current literature does not support the usefulness of clinical markers on predicting which patients with atypical small acinar proliferation （ASAP） are more likely to progress to prostate cancer （PCa）. Androgens have long been considered to be the potential risk factors for PCa. However, the role of testosterone is controversial. The present study aims to analyze the relationship between serum testosterone （TS） levels and the diagnosis of PCa after a first prostate biopsy in patients affected by ASAP. This retrospective study included 143 patients diagnosed with ASAP in an initial transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy for suspicious PCa according to the European Association of Urology guidelines. Their TS levels, age, PSA, prostate volume, digital rectal examination, and prostate biopsy Gleason score （GS） were collected retrospectively for statistical analysis. All patients included in the study had a second biopsy and were suitable for further analysis. Re-biopsy was carried out 3-6 months after the first diagnosis of ASAP. Low and normal TS groups were composed of 29 （20.3%） and 114 （79.7%） patients, respectively. The diagnosis of the second biopsy was ASAP in 25.2% and PCa in 36.4% of patients. The comparison between patients with PCa and those with negative or an ASAP result in the second biopsy reported that men with cancer had significantly higher levels of TS （P 〈 0.001）. However, there was no statistically significant association between GS postbiopsy and TS （P = 0.324）. Our experience demonstrated that eugonadal patients may be a clinical risk factor for the diagnosis of PCa on re-biopsy after ASAP diagnosis than hypogonadal.

The compressive strength of concrete is one of most important mechanical parameters in the performance assessment of existing reinforced concrete *** to various international codes,core samples are drilled and tested to obtain the concrete compressive ***-destructive testing is an important alternative when destructive testing is not feasible without damaging the *** commonly used non-destructive testing(NDT)methods to estimate the in-situ values include the Rebound hammer test and the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity *** poor reliability of these tests due to different aspects could be partially contrasted by using both methods together,as *** the SonReb *** are three techniques that are commonly used to predict the compressive strength of concrete based on the SonReb measurements:computational modeling,artificial intelligence,and parametric multi-variable regression *** a previous study the accuracy of the correlation formulas deduced from the last technique has been investigated in comparison with the effective compressive strengths based on destructive test results on core drilled in adjacent *** aim of this study is to verify the accuracy of Artificial Neural Approach comparing the estimated compressive strengths based on NDT measured parameters with the same effective compressive *** comparisons show the best performance of ANN approach.

In this paper, we describe an image enhancement and interpretation methodology to enhance and recognize surface defects and critical patterns from remote imagery of sewer pipeline inspection. The objective is to provide inspectors and professionals with better tools to allow them to examine the imagery for condition assessment. We present initial results of a collaboration with a robotic company through a case study on computer-assisted processing and interpretation of sewer pipeline inspection imagery. In the mean time, the described enhancement and interpretation methodology can also be applied to sewer pipeline condition assessment in an offline mode, where this methodology can support professionals’ examination of acquired sewer condition imagery.
