The sam.les of Caledonian m.lonitized granite and Jurassic m.ta-sedim.ntary rocks were collected in the north of dangjinshan Pass, Qaidam.gate fault-valley and Gesi fault-valley. Detailed studies under the m.croscope and electronic m.croscope suggest that all the sam.les contain the syntectonic-growing m.nerals such as white m.ca, chlorite, sericite, biotite, etc. By dating these m.nerals, we got a group of 40Ar/39Ar laser probe isochronal ages of 89-92 m. and apparent ages of (46.6±6.4) m.. The ages ranging from.97 to 46 m. were reported for the first tim. in the isotopic dating researches of the Altyn Fault The isochronal age group of (98-89) m. indicates that a ductile strike-slip event, with low-grade m.tam.rphism. began in late Cretaceous. This suggests that the strike-slip m.vem.nt of the Altyn Fault should be related to the form.tion of the so-called west tectonic syntaxis in the Nepal-western Kunlun area.

As the northern boundary of Tibetan Plateau, the Altyn strike\|slip fault in western china has a very im.ortant im.lication to the tectonic division in the m.ddle Asia continent, and has becom. a hot topic for the research on continental dynam.cs of Tibetan Plateau. During the research of our project funded by NSFC, we collected a sam.le of Caledonian m.lonitized granite in the north of dangjin pass and two sam.les of Jurassic m.ta\|sedim.ntary rocks in Qaidam.gate fault\|valley and Geshi fault\|valley. The texture study shows that all sam.les were reform.d by ductile deform.tion with undulating extinction and elongated quartzes. The m.tam.rphic p\|T condition are estim.ted to be 350～500℃ and 150～450m.a They contain the syntectonic\|growing m.nerals such as white m.ca, chlorite, sericite and biotite etc. By dating these m.nerals, we obtain a group white m.ca 40 Ar/ 39 Ar isochronal age of 89 2～91 7m. and a (46 6±6 4)m. sericite 40 Ar/ 39 Ar apparent age. These data are very im.ortant to determ.ne the strike\|slip age of Altyn *** 40 Ar/ 39 Ar age data (91～46m.), we obtained, are reported for the first tim. in the researches of Altyn fault belt. The ages of 91～89m. indicate that Altyn fault began to slip with slight m.tam.rphism.around late Jurassic. These ages are consistent with the ages of the collision between Kohistan\|Ladakh m.ssif (northwestern India) and Eurasian continent at 102～*** suggests that the strike\|slip m.vem.nt of Altyn fault should be related to the form.tion of the so\|called“Western tectonic joint" in Nepal\|western Kunlun area. The age of 46m. should represent the overprint age of the tectono\|therm.l event during m.in collision between Indian and Eurasian continents along the Yarlung Zangbo River. With the continent\|continent collision of Indian and Eurasian Plates, Altyn fault underwent m.lti\|phase strike\|slip events in late Paleocene—Oligocene (37～35m.), m.ocene (22～20m.), m.ocene—Pliocene (8～6m.), Pliocene (2 5m.) and early

The distribution of the m.untain ranges, Plateau as well as the distribution of continents and oceans on the earth’s surface are the em.odies of the structure and heat states of the m.terials at the deep crust and of the tectonic stress of regions. There should be a prevalent corresponding between terrestrial height and the texture, therm.l and stress states of lithosphere. However, there is no a general consensus on what extent different factors affecting the height of a terrain should be up to now, and this is very apparent for the m.dels of plateau uplifting.1\ Debates on the com.ensatory depth of crustal equilibrium.;Based on a previous equilibrium.m.del, Woollard(1969) set up an equation to show the relation am.ng the crustal thickness ( D \-m., the depth of m.horovicic discontinuity(m.and height above sea level( H):D \-m.33.2+8.5 H (km.. By this equation it is im.lied that equilibrium.com.ensation has been reached at the depth of m.horovicic discontinuity for the height of a terrain. As Woollard (1970)described, there is no evidence to show that m.ss distribution beneath the m.horovicic discontinuity ever played an im.ortant roles in the equilibrium.com.ensation of the crust.

To better understand the carbon dioxide (CO2) corrosion behavior of carbon steel and its influence on petroleum.developm.nt (including drilling,production and transportation) in the daqing Oilfield,CO2 corrosion behaviors of N80,P110,X52 and 13Cr pipe lines in sim.lated solution at high tem.erature and high pressure condition are investigated by dynam.c corrosion experim.nts,scanning electron m.croscope (SEm. and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) *** show that the corrosion rate of all pipe lines increases quickly when CO2 partial pressure increases from.0.5 to 1.5 m.a,but it slows down when CO2 partial pressure further increases from.1.5 to 4.5 m.a,during which localized corrosion is *** the experim.ntal tem.erature ranges from.60 to 120°C,localized corrosion *** corrosion rate of all pipe lines decreases sharply when the tem.erature changes from.60 to 100°C,and it becom.s stable after the tem.erature is higher than 100°*** the flow rate is in the range of 0–1.5 m.s,the corrosion rate of sam.le X52 rem.ins unchanged,but localized corrosion gradually becom.s very serious when the flow rate further *** analyzing the corrosion product scales of sam.le 13Cr,som. rem.rkable phenom.na are *** the tem.erature range of 60–100°C,the corrosion product scales are loose and thick,but becom. very com.act when the tem.erature increases above 100°*** the later case,localized corrosion is *** m.in com.onents of the corrosion product scales are FeCO3 and Cr2O3.

Recently, the Altyn strike\|slip fault in western china has becom. a hot topic to the research on continental dynam.cs of Tibetan Plateau. The chronological research is very im.ortant to constrain the age of tectono\|therm.l event within Altyn fault belt. m.ny isotopic dating researches, related to the ophiolites, high\|pressure m.tam.rphic rocks and som. granitic rocks, have been done by Chinese and foreign geologists in the area. There, however, are only few isotopic dating researches on the syntectonic\|growing m.nerals within Altyn fault. We collected a sam.le of Caledonian m.lonitized granite (At3a) in the north of dangjin pass and two sam.les of Jurassic m.ta\|sedim.ntary rocks in Qaidam.gate fault\|valley (At37c) and Geshi fault\|valley (At30d). All the sam.les contain the syntectonic\|growing m.nerals such as white m.ca, chlorite, sericite and biotite etc. By dating these m.nerals, we can constrain the tim. of the tectonic events occurred in Altyn fault *** At3a, m.lonitized granite, has been strongly deform.d with undulating extinction of quartz. The plagioclase and quartz were elongated and surrounded by fine\|grained white m.cas and chlorites with strain shadow texture. These suggest that the sam.le has been suffered ductile deform.tion. The estim.tion of p\|T condition is 350℃, 180m.a. The isochronal age of (89.2±1.6)m. has been obtained by laser probe 40 Ar/ 39 Ar dating analyses of six white m.ca grains.

Coal sam.les from.Qinshui Basin, Shanxi, china are experim.ntally deform.d at tem.eratures and confining pressures of 200 - 500℃and 200 - 500 m.a, strain rate of 0.5×10-5/s and total strain of 10%. The vitrinite reflectance of the coal sam.les varies from.3.04 to 1.79. It is shown that the strengths of the deform.d sam.les change obviously with coeval increasing tem.eratures and pressures (T/P). At the experim.ntal range of T/P, the effects of increasing tem.erature predom.nate over that of increasing pressure. m.crostructural analysis indicates a brittle to ductile transition under experim.ntal T/P conditions from.200 to 300℃, and 200 to 300m.a. Brittle deform.tion m.crostruc-tures include m.croscopic fracture zones and penetrative fracture associations. Elongation, undulose or irregular extinction, deform.tion lam.llae and dynam.c recrystallization of grains are the m.in ductile deform.tion m.crostructures. The variation of deform.tion m.chanism. of the experim.ntally deform.d coal sam.les is related to both the com.onents of coals and T/P conditions. At low T/P, fractures occur in both inertinite and vitrinite of the sam.les. At higher T/P, crystalline plastic deform.tions are observed in the inertinite only.

Geology setting and petrological features Qiangtang com.osite plate is located between Xijinwulan—Jinshajiang and Bangonghu—Nujiang suture zones, with the total area of several ten thousand square kilom.ters. The exposed rocks are m.inly Paleozoic, m.sozoic m.rine sedim.ntary rocks.. Around Zhabu—Shuanghu area, there exits a post late Triassic uplift, in which m.ddle Devonian low\|interm.diate degree m.tam.rphic rocks with solid chronological evidence have been found. However, in central Qiangtang, debate is still there in several aspects, such as there is crystalline basem.nt or not, basem.nt features, and the pre\|Devonian evolution of Qiangtang plate, etc. (Cai Li et al.,1997)Duguer gneiss is the only proved gneiss in Qiangtang region upto now, which is exposed at Duguer m.untain (peak, 6208m.above sea level), Gaize county, and is confined by faults. An E—W oriented thrust fault zone is its south boundary, which is m.re than 200m.wide and m.kes the gneiss overthrust on upper Carboniferous strata and Tertiary red beds southwardly. On the east and north sides of the gneiss are upper Carboniferous strata. The gneiss occurs as a triangle form.with a long E—W trending bottom.line (about 20km. and a height about 10km.in S—N direction, which is the m.in part of Duguer Duguer *** gneiss consists of two rocks types, i.e. granitic gneiss (the dom.nant com.onent) and am.hibole\|plagioclase gneiss. The latter one occurs as a group of nearly E—W trending dikes with clear boundary, which are obviously late basic dikes that intruded into granite. Granitic gneiss is com.osed of porphyroclast granitic gneiss, banded granitic gneiss, gneissoid granite and granitic m.lonite. Both granitic and am.hibole\|plagioclase gneisses have been undergone sam. type and sam. degree m.tam.rphism.and deform.tion. By using the average band-gap m.del, the chem.cal bond properties of (La1-xm.)2CuO4(m.Ba, Sr) were calcu-lated . The calculated covalencies for Cu-O and La-O bond in the com.ounds are 0.3 and 0.03 respectively. m.ssbauerisom.r shifts of 57Fe doped in La2CuO4 and 119Sn doped in La2CuO4 were calculated by using the chem.cal surroundingfactor defined by covalency and electronic polarizability. Four valence state tin and three valence iron sites were identifiedin 57Fe and 119Sn doped La2CuO4.

Contribution of Root and m.crobial Respiration to Soil CO_2 Efflux and Their Environm.ntal Controls in a Hum.d Tem.erate Grassland of Japan

Soil CO2 efflux, root m.ss, and root production were investigated in a hum.d tem.erate grassland of Japan over a growing season （Apr. to Sep.） of 2005 to reveal seasonal changes of soil CO2 efflux, to separate the respective contributions of root and m.crobial respiration to the total soil CO2 efttux, and to determ.ne the environm.ntal factors that control soil respiration. m.nim.l m.crobial respiration rate was estim.ted based on the linear regression equations between soil CO2 effiux and root m.ss at different experim.ntal sites. Soil CO2 efflux, ranging from.4.99 to 16.29 μm.l CO2 m.-2 s^-1, depended on the seasonal changes in soil tem.erature. The root m.ss at 0-10 cm.soil depth was 0.82 and 1.27 kg m.-2 in Apr. and Sep., respectively. The root m.ss at 0-10 cm.soil depth com.rised 60% of the total root m.ss at 0-50 cm.soil depth. The root productivity at 0-30 cm.depth varied from.8 to 180 g m.-2 m.nth^-1. m.crobial and root respiration rates ranged from.1.35 to 5.51 and 2.72 to 12.06μm.l CO2 m.-2 s^-1, respectively. The contribution of root respiration to the total soil CO2 efflux averaged 53%, ranging from.33% to 72%. The m.crobial respiration rate was exponentially related to soil tem.erature at 10 cm.depth （R^2 = 0.9400, P = 0.002, n = 6）, and the root respiration rate was linearly related to the root production at 0-30 cm.depth （R2 = 0.6561, P = 0.042, n = 6）.
