Baseline symptoms of depression and anxiety negatively impact the effectiveness of CBTi in treating acute insomnia among young adults

Background Cognitive-behavioural therapy for insomnia(CBTi)is the first-line treatment for those with this sleep ***,depressive and anxiety symptoms often co-occur with acute insomnia,which may affect the effectiveness of *** This study aimed to determine the impact of depressive and anxiety symptoms on the efficacy of CBTi in treating acute *** A single-arm clinical trial was conducted among individuals who have acute *** underwent self-guided CBTi for *** insomnia,depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms were evaluated using the Insomnia Severity Index and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale at baseline,post-treatment and 3-month *** measures analysis of variance was used to assess the effectiveness of CBTi in treating insomnia,depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms.A multivariate Cox regression model was used to determine the impact of depressive and anxiety symptoms on *** The study found significant reductions in insomnia,depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms at both post-treatment and 3-month follow-up(F=17.45,p<0.001;F=36.37,p=0.001;and F=81.51,p<0.001,respectively).The duration of CBTi treatment had a positive impact on insomnia recovery(hazard ratio(HR)=0.94,p=0.018).However,baseline depressive symptoms(HR=1.83,p=0.004)and baseline anxiety symptoms(HR=1.99,p=0.001)had significant negative effects on insomnia *** The study showed that a 1-week self-guided CBTi treatment is effective in treating acute insomnia and comorbid depressive and anxiety ***,baseline depressive and anxiety symptoms negatively impact treatment ***,clinicians should assess for depressive and anxiety symptoms before treating acute insomnia with monotherapy CBTi.

Suitable internal control genes for qRT-PCR normalization in cotton fiber development and somatic embryogenesis

The mechanisms of cotton fiber development and somatic embryogenesis have been explored sys-tematically with microarray and suppression subtractive hybridization. Real-time RT-PCR provides the simultaneous measurement of gene expression in many different samples,with which the data from microarray or others can be confirmed in detail. To achieve accurate and reliable gene expression re-sults,normalization of real-time PCR data against one or several internal control genes is required,which should not fluctuate in different tissues during various stages of development. We assessed the gene expression of 7 frequently used housekeeping genes,including 18S rRNA,Histone3,UBQ7,Actin,Cyclophilin,Gbpolyubiquitin-1 and Gbpolyubiquitin-2,in a diverse set of 21 cotton samples. For fiber developmental series the expression of all housekeeping genes had the same down tendency after 17 DPA. But the expression of the AGP gene(arabinogalactan protein) that has high expression level at the later fiber development stage was up-regulated from 15 to 27 DPA. So the relative absolute quanti-fication should be an efficient and convenient method for the fiber developmental series. The expres-sion of nonfiber tissues series varied not so much against the fiber developmental series. And three best control genes Histone3,UBQ7 and Gbpolyubiquitin-1 have to be used in a combinated way to get better normalization.

High throughput monoclonal antibody generation by immunizing multiple antigens

Recognizing proteins via the production of highly specific monoclonal antibodies(mAbs)is crucial to identifying proteins for proteomic ***,traditional mAb generation is time-consuming with low *** this study,we assessed the high throughput method of producing mAbs by immunizing mice with multiple antigens in order to obtain hybridomas against these multiple antigens in one cell *** selected eight proteins that play important roles in human physiological or pathological *** proteins were mixed and simultaneously administered to one *** observed the immunizing period for 10 d,and determined the effect of liquid medium and semi-solid medium in hybridoma *** a result,all eight immunogens induced antibodies in the immunized mouse in one cell fusion,we obtained hybridomas specific to all eight proteins by enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay(ELISA)screening,hybridomas against five out of eight showed specific positive in Western-blotting *** indicates that we generated mAbs specific to eight proteins in one cell fusion,greatly increasing the efficiency of mAb ***,we observed that hybridomas selected from the liquid medium and semi-solid medium showed different reactivity to *** study established high-throughput and time-saving methods for production of *** results provide alternative approaches for increasing the efficacy of mAb generation.

Agricultural expansion in Yunnan Province and its environmental consequences

Yunnan Province with numerous international rivers has huge impacts on downstream countries such as Burma, Laos and Vietnam. Agricultural expansion in Yunnan has conferred and continues to confer detrimental impacts on environments. In the past 43 years (1960-2003), the increase in crop yield was associated with a 99.1-fold increase in fertilizers, 2.0-fold in pesticides, and 0.4-fold in cultivated lands, respectively. Based on linear regression of the past trend, the next doubling of crop yield in the future would be accompanied by the increase in fertilizer application (from about 1.3x10(9) kg to 3.6x10(9) kg), and the increase in application of pesticides (from about 2.7x10(7) kg to 9.6x10(7) kg). Similarly, the total amount of cultivated lands would increase from about 5.9x10(6) ha to 9.3x10(6) ha. In the past decades, these changes have caused a series of environmental problems such as agricultural non-point source pollution (ANSP), deforestation, land degradation, and biodiversity loss. If the escalating status continues as our prediction, those problems would get worse and be tough to be dealt with. As for the situation in this region, some practices to minimize the impacts should be implemented in controlling population growth, protecting wetlands, developing tourism, and utilizing fertilizers and pesticides more rationally.

Metabolic mechanism of dietary factors and effect of dietary types associated with hyperuricemia: A review

Globally， hyperuricemia is a growing health， social， and economic problem which could cause gout， chronic kidney diseases and other diseases. There are increasing evidences that a sensible diet makes sense to reduce the risk of hyperuricemia. This review aims to explore the metabolic mechanism of dietary factors and effects of dietary types associated with hyperuricemia. Recommendations for dietary modification to prevent hyperuricemia are as following: decreasing intake of animal organs， seafood， sugar-sweetened， and alcohol beverages is essential; choosing water or unsweetened tea and coffee instead of sweetened beverages is beneficial; and increasing intake of vegetables， reduced-fat dairy products， foods containing fiber， micronutrients and unsaturated fatty acids is helpful. In addition， consumption of fruits and legumes in moderation is advantageous， and low-fructose of fruits and low-purine of non-soy beans are recommended. Moreover， personalized diet needs to be emphasized for hyperuricemic patients accompanied with diverse metabolic diseases.

The aerostat power system was designed, it’s simulation experiment was conducted, and it’s data were analyzed according to the operating characteristics of the aerostat in this paper. The influence of the environmental conditions and different loads on the power supply system was also analyzed because the requirements in all aspects in the aerostats power supply system are very rigorous in the fields of aerospace. A detail researches and analysis on key technologies of the floating power supply system were carried out considering the relationship between illumination conditions and peak power. Then, a design of aerostats’ power supply system was brought up based on the energy balance principle. At last, the feasibility of the design systems was verified and some key issues were analyzed in detail through the analysis to low-altitude simulation test data.

This paper investigates the networked control for a class of switched systems under asynchronous *** asynchronous switching phenomenon,which means that the switching time of the matched controller mode usually lags behind that of the switched system mode,is caused by network-induced *** deal with the coupling between the switching interval of switched systems and the execution interval of sampled-data,an event-triggered sampling scheme is introduced to synchronize the sampling times and the switching *** on the proposed sampling scheme,we develop a new model of networked switched control systems in which delays and packet dropouts are taken into account *** constructing the piecewise-Lyapunov functions and using the average dwell time approach,sufficient conditions for ensuring the stability of the closed-loop system are derived and two co-design methods on both the switching signal and the asynchronous switched controller are also ***’s should be noted that the proposed Lyapunov function is allowed to be increasing during the whole running time of ***,a numerical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed results.

A novel four-component reaction involving ring-opening/recyclization of 1,3-thiazolidinedione

The multicomponent reactions of 1,3-thiazolidinedione, malononitrile, aromatic aldehydes and α-phenylethylamine or β-phenylethylamine in acetonitrile at room temperature produce dihydrothiophene ureidoformamide derivatives in moderate yields through a domino ring-opening/recyclization reaction of 1,3-thiazolidinedione. On treatment with DDQ, dihydrothiophenes are dehydrogenated to convert efficiently to thiophenes in the mild condition.
