Clinical signifi cance of FABP2 expression in newborns with necrotizing enterocolitis

Background: This meta-analysis aimed to determinethe role of human fatty acid binding protein 2 (FABP2)expression in the diagnosis of necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC) of *** sources: Eligible studies for further statisticalanalysis were identified from various databases including PubMed, Expert Medica Database, Web of Science,Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, China BioMedicineand China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Randomeffects model was used, and summary standardized meandifference (SMD) with its 95% confi dence interval (CI) wascalculated to assess the association of FABP2 expressionand ***: Ten articles which included 572 infants (262infants with NEC and 310 healthy controls) were includedin the current meta-analysis. FABP2 showed a positiverelationship with NEC of newborns (SMD=2.88, 95%CI=2.09-3.67, P<0.001). And FABP2 expression washigher in patients with advanced stage of NEC (stage IIIor stage II+III) than in those with early stage of NEC(stage I) (SMD=-0.48, 95% CI=-0.87 to -0.09, P=0.015).Ethnicity-stratifi ed analysis yielded signifi cantly differentestimates with a high FABP2 expression in NEC in bothCaucasians (SMD=3.16, 95% CI=1.90-4.43, P<0.001) andAsians (SMD=2.57, 95% CI=1.50-3.64, P<0.001). Samplebasedsubgroup analysis showed that FABP2 expressionwas positively correlated with neonatal NEC in bothurinary- and blood-sample subgroups (all P<0.05).Conclusion: The results prove that the high FABP2expression is related to the damage to intestinal cells,which may be a possible early detection marker identifyingneonatal NEC.

Adenotonsillectomy outcomes regarding bone age and osteocalcin in treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in children

Background:To investigate the effect of adenotonsillec tomy (AT) on bone development,quality of life and polysomnography evaluation in children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA).Methods:Preoperative and postoperative (6 months) physical examination,PSG,bone age (BA) and osteocalcin (OC) evaluation were performed on the selected OSA children (n=92) and the healthy children (n=87).The OSA children were also scored based on the OSA 18-item questionnaire.A two-year follow-up was conducted to evaluate BA and OC ***:After AT,81 (88.04%) OSA children recovered completely,eight (8.70%) achieved remarkable improvements,and three (3.26%) achieved moderate *** the OSA children,postoperative OSA 18-item score and the scores of the five domains were significantly higher than preoperative *** with the preoperative,body mass index (BMI),weight for age Z-sores,height for age Z-sores,weight for height Z-sores and BMI Z-score in the OSA group 6 months after the operation were significantly increased,but no significant difference was detected between the OSA and the control *** changes of BA and chronological age in the OSA group were significantly different from those in the control *** years after AT,BA between the two groups was no longer significantly *** serum OC in the OSA group was lower than that in the control group,but increased to normal levels 6 months after *** analysis showed serum OC levels were negatively correlated with apnea hyponea index,obstructive apnea index,arousal index,and lowest oxygen ***:After AT,bone growth and development in children with OSA recovered gradually,and the serum OC levels decreased to the normal ***,preventive measures and positive treatments should be applied to minimize the negative effects of OSA in children.

Staged dendrite suppression for high safe and stable lithium-sulfur batteries

The unavoidable dendrite growth and shuttle effect have long been stranglehold challenges limiting the safety and practicality of lithium-sulfur ***,we propose a dual-action strategy to address the lithium dendrite issue in stages by constructing a multifunctional surface-negatively-charged nanodiamond layer with high ductility and robust puncture resistance on polypropylene （PP） *** uniformly loaded compact negative layer can not only significantly enhance electron transmission efficiency and promote uniform lithium deposition,but also reduce the formation of dendrite during early deposition *** importantly,under the strong puncture stress encountered during the deterioration of lithium dendrite growth under limiting current,the high ductility and robust puncture resistance（145.88 MPa） of as-obtained nanodiamond layer can effectively prevent short circuits caused by unavoidable lithium *** Li||Li symmetrical cells assembled with nanodiamond layer modified PP demonstrated a stable cycle of over 1000 h at 2 mA cm-2with a polarization voltage of only 29.3 ***,the negative charged layer serves as a physical barrier blocking lithium polysulfide ions,effectively mitigating capacity *** improved cells achieved a capacity decay of only 0.042%per cycle after 700 cycles at 3 C,demonstrating effective suppression of dendrite growth and capacity attenuation,showing promising prospect.

Multi-model ensemble learning for battery state-of-health estimation:Recent advances and perspectives

The burgeoning market for lithium-ion batteries has stimulated a growing need for more reliable battery performance monitoring. Accurate state-of-health(SOH) estimation is critical for ensuring battery operational performance. Despite numerous data-driven methods reported in existing research for battery SOH estimation, these methods often exhibit inconsistent performance across different application scenarios. To address this issue and overcome the performance limitations of individual data-driven models,integrating multiple models for SOH estimation has received considerable attention. Ensemble learning(EL) typically leverages the strengths of multiple base models to achieve more robust and accurate outputs. However, the lack of a clear review of current research hinders the further development of ensemble methods in SOH estimation. Therefore, this paper comprehensively reviews multi-model ensemble learning methods for battery SOH estimation. First, existing ensemble methods are systematically categorized into 6 classes based on their combination strategies. Different realizations and underlying connections are meticulously analyzed for each category of EL methods, highlighting distinctions, innovations, and typical applications. Subsequently, these ensemble methods are comprehensively compared in terms of base models, combination strategies, and publication trends. Evaluations across 6 dimensions underscore the outstanding performance of stacking-based ensemble methods. Following this, these ensemble methods are further inspected from the perspectives of weighted ensemble and diversity, aiming to inspire potential approaches for enhancing ensemble performance. Moreover, addressing challenges such as base model selection, measuring model robustness and uncertainty, and interpretability of ensemble models in practical applications is emphasized. AQDS Enhances Degradation of BDE-47 by Promoting Shewanella oneidensis MR-1-mediated Fenton Reaction with Fe(III)-containing Minerals

Electron shuttles are widespread in the environments and play important role in microbe-mineral interaction. This study investigated the effects of a model electron shuttle (i.e.， anthraquinone-2， 6-disulfonate， AQDS) on Shewanella oneidensis MR-1-mediated Fenton reaction and subsequent degradation of 2， 2′， 4， 4′-tetrabrominated diphenyl ether (BDE-47). Three Fe(III)-containing minerals， namely， ferrihydrite， goethite and nontronite， were used as electron acceptors and Fe(II) sources. With each mineral， additions of 0.01 – 1 mM AQDS in the reactions significantly enhanced Fe(III) reduction by S. oneidensis MR-1 and increased the amounts of Fe(II) produced in anoxic phase. As a result， the amounts of cumulative ·OH formed in oxic phase were increased by 10% – 287%. Regression analysis revealed that ·OH cumulation has significant linear correlation with sorbed Fe(II) but not aqueous and structural Fe(II). This finding may be ascribed to the higher reactivity of sorbed Fe(II) in oxygenation than the latter two types of Fe(II). With more ·OH， the degradation efficiency of BDE-47 was elevated by 31% – 173%. Collectively， AQDS enhances ·OH formation and BDE-47 degradation by promoting production of Fe(II)， particularly sorbed Fe(II) in S. oneidensis MR-1-mediated Fenton reaction with Fe(III)-containing minerals.

Separation of the ionospheric and thermospheric contributions in the data from the Triple Ionosophere Photo Meter onboard the Feng-Yun 3E satellite

The Triple Ionosphere Photo Meter （TRIPM） is a far ultraviolet nadir-view photometer that is onboard the secondgeneration,polar-orbiting Chinese meteorological satellite Feng-Yun 3E （FY-3E）,which was launched on July 5,*** has three channels,and each is used to measure different types of emissions:（1） 135.6 nm airglow produced by the recombination of the O+ions and electrons in the absence of sunlight （nighttime channel）;（2） 135.6 nm airglow from the OI when sunlight is present （daytime/dusk-dawn 135.6 nm channel）;and （3） Airglow in the N2LBH of the TRIPM （daytime/dusk-dawn N2LBH channel）.FY-3E is a satellite operating in the early morning ***,the data are mostly distributed on the dawndusk side or at times when the solar zenith angle is relatively *** this study,combined with simulation calculations,the data are *** further explore the application value of the data products,a model is used to separate the ionospheric radiative recombination contribution from the thermosphere photoelectron impact excitation contribution in the data from the daytime/dusk-dawn 135.6 nm *** approach not only improves the accuracy of O/N2derived from the 135.6 nm channel and N2LBH channel but also provides the ionospheric 135.6 nm radiance at the same time as the *** results show that the 135.6 nm radiance originating from the combination of O+and electrons extracted from the measurement data exhibits similar equatorial anomaly peak structure characteristics and seasonal variations as the corresponding GPS total electron content （TEC） *** the other hand,the separated 135.6 nm radiance generated from the thermosphere photoelectron collision excitation does not contain radiative recombination contributions;thus,the ionosphere influence is greatly avoided when the O/N2is obtained.

Role of the globus pallidus in motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease

The globus pallidus plays a pivotal role in the basal ganglia circuit. Parkinson's disease is characterized by degeneration of dopamine-producing cells in the substantia nigra, which leads to dopamine deficiency in the brain that subsequently manifests as various motor and non-motor symptoms. This review aims to summarize the involvement of the globus pallidus in both motor and non-motor manifestations of Parkinson's disease. The firing activities of parvalbumin neurons in the medial globus pallidus, including both the firing rate and pattern, exhibit strong correlations with the bradykinesia and rigidity associated with Parkinson's disease. Increased beta oscillations, which are highly correlated with bradykinesia and rigidity, are regulated by the lateral globus pallidus. furthermore,bradykinesia and rigidity are strongly linked to the loss of dopaminergic projections within the cortical-basal ganglia-thalamocortical loop. Resting tremors are attributed to the transmission of pathological signals from the basal ganglia through the motor cortex to the cerebellum-ventral intermediate nucleus circuit. The cortico–striato–pallidal loop is responsible for mediating pallidi-associated sleep disorders. Medication and deep brain stimulation are the primary therapeutic strategies addressing the globus pallidus in Parkinson's disease. Medication is the primary treatment for motor symptoms in the early stages of Parkinson's disease, while deep brain stimulation has been clinically proven to be effective in alleviating symptoms in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease,particularly for the movement disorders caused by levodopa. Deep brain stimulation targeting the globus pallidus internus can improve motor function in patients with tremordominant and non-tremor-dominant Parkinson's disease, while deep brain stimulation targeting the globus pallidus externus can alter the temporal pattern of neural activity throughout the basal ganglia–thalamus network. Preparation of Co/S co-doped carbon catalysts for excellent methylene blue degradation

S and Co co-doped carbon catalysts were prepared via pyrolysis of MOF-71 and thiourea mixtures at 800℃at a mass ratio of MOF-71 to thiourea of 1:0.1 to effectively activate peroxymonosulfate(PMS)for methylene blue(MB)*** effects of two different mixing routes were identified on the MB degradation ***,the catalyst obtained by the alcohol solvent evaporation(MOF-AEP)mixing route could degrade 95.60%MB(50 mg/L)within 4 min(degradation rate:K=0.78 min^(-1)),which was faster than that derived from the direct grinding method(MOF-DGP,80.97%,K=0.39 min^(-1)).X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the Co-S content of MOF-AEP(43.39at%)was less than that of MOF-DGP(54.73at%),and the proportion of C-S-C in MOF-AEP(13.56at%)was higher than that of MOF-DGP(10.67at%).Density functional theory calculations revealed that the adsorption energy of Co for PMS was -2.94 eV when sulfur was doped as C-S-C on the carbon skeleton,which was higher than that when sulfur was doped next to cobalt in the form of Co-S bond(-2.86 eV).Thus,the C-S-C sites might provide more contributions to activate PMS compared with ***,the degradation parameters,including pH and MOF-AEP dosage,were ***,radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)measurements revealed that ^(1)O_(2)might be the primary catalytic species,whereas·O~(2-)might be the secondary one in degrading MB.

Photoactive complexes of nonprecious transition metals, mainly including those in the first-row and partially the second-row of the Periodic table of elements, have received increasing attention in view of their low cost and long-term sustainability. They are recognized as promising alternatives to noble transition metal complex congeners that have been extensively studied in optoelectronic devices, artificial photosynthesis, photocatalysis, biodiagnostics, and therapeutics, etc. This review is devoted to a comprehensive summary on the classical and recent advances on photoactive nonprecious transition metal complexes, including photoactive Zr, V, Cr, Mo, and W complexes, Mn complexes and hybrids, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu complexes, and Zn and Cd complexes and hybrids. A particular focus is given on the molecular design, modulation of photophysical and photochemical properties, and applications of the representative and lately-developed nonprecious metal complexes. In addition, a perspective on the future development in this field is provided at the end of this review.
