Elevated plasma lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 activity is associated with plaque rupture in patients with coronary artery disease

Background Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 （Lp-PLA2） has recently been shown to be positively related to coronary events in patients with coronary artery disease （CAD）. However, direct evidence about the relationship between circulation Lp-PLA2 activity and vulnerable plaque in patients with CAD remains lacking. Methods Plasma Lp-PLA2 activity was determined in 146 consecutive patients with CAD who underwent clinically-indicated coronary angiography and preinterventional intravascular ultrasound （IVUS）. Results Eighty-three patients were included in the final analysis after the initial screening. Sixty （72.3%） were acute coronary syndrome （ACS） patients and 23 （27.7%） were stable angina pectoris （SAP） patients. Plaque rupture occurred in 39 （47.0%） patients, and 34 （87.2%） were from ACS patients and 5 （12.8%） from SAP patients. There were no significant differences in clinical and angiographic characteristics between patients with plaque rupture and those without plaque rupture, except for smoking, high-sensitive C-reactive protein （hs-CRP） level and Lp-PLA2 activity （all P 〈0.05）. IVUS measurement uncovered that patients with plaque rupture had more frequent positive remodeling （74.4% vs. 43.2%, P=0.004）, soft plaques （64.1% vs. 36.4%, P=-0.012） and higher remodeling index （1.13~0.16 vs. 0.99＋_0.11, P=0.041） as compared with those without plaque rupture. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that plasma Lp-PLA2 activity was independently associated with plaque rupture after adjusting for smoking, positive remodeling and soft plaque （Model 1： odds ratio （OR） 1.13, 95% confidence interval （CO ： 1.06-1.20） or adjusting for smoking, hs-CRP level, positive remodeling and soft plaque （Model 2： OR 1.11,95%C1： 1.04-1.19）. Conclusions Plasma Lp-PLA2 activity is associated with plaque rupture in patients with CAD, independently of traditional CAD risk factors, hs-CRP level and IVUS parameters. Lp-PLA2 may be a risk marker for vulnerable plaques.

It has been proved to be an effective route to efficiently ameliorate photocatalytic performance of catalysts via designing three-dimensional(3D)hierarchical nanostructures and constructing oxygen vacancies(VOs).However,controlling the self-assembly of organization into 3D hierarchical nanostructures while introducing VOs in photocatalysts remains a ***,we reported an ethylene glycol(EG)mediated approach to craft 3D hydrangea-structure Bi_(2)MoO_(6)with VOs for efficient photocatalytic degradation of *** manipulating the EG concentration during the fabrication process,the influence of EG concentration on the Bi_(2)MoO_(6)structure was systematically *** could promote the self-assembly of Bi_(2)MoO_(6)nanosheets to form a 3D hierarchical *** with 2D nanoplates,3D hierarchical architecture enhanced the surface area and the amount of active sites of Bi_(2)MoO_(6).In addition,the reduction effect of EG on metallic oxide enabled the generation of VOs in Bi_(2)MoO_(6).The VOs adjusted the electronic structure of Bi_(2)MoO_(6),which not only enhanced the light harvesting,but also facilitated the simultaneous utilization of photo-induced electrons and holes to form reactive oxygen species(·O2−and·OH)for the efficient tetracycline decomposition.3D Bi_(2)MoO_(6)hydrangea with VOs achieved a 79.4%removal efficiency of tetracycline after 75 *** work provides a simple yet robust EG-mediated strategy,which not only promotes the self-assembly of nano-catalysts into 3D hierarchical architectures,but also crafts tunable VOs for highly efficient photocatalysis.

Parkinson’s disease(PD)is a complicated neurodegenerative disease,characterized by the accumulation ofα-synuclein(α-syn)in Lewy bodies and neurites,and massive loss of midbrain dopamine *** evidence suggests that gut microbiota and microbial metabolites are involved in the development of *** these,short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs),the most abundant microbial metabolites,have been proven to play a key role in brain-gut *** this review,we analyze the role of SCFAs in the pathology of PD from multiple dimensions and summarize the alterations of SCFAs in PD patients as well as their correlation with motor and non-motor *** research should focus on further elucidating the role of SCFAs in neuroinflammation,as well as developing novel strategies employing SCFAs and their derivatives to treat PD.

Surface defects can affect the quality of steel *** methods based on computer vision are currently applied to surface defect detection of steel ***,their real-time performance and object detection of small defect are still *** improved object detection network based on You Only Look One-level Feature(YOLOF)is proposed to show excellent performance in surface defect detection of steel plate,called ***,the anchor-free detector is used to reduce the network ***,deformable convolution network and local spatial attention module are introduced into the feature extraction network to increase the contextual information in the feature ***,the soft non-maximum suppression is used to improve detection accuracy ***,data augmentation is performed for small defect objects during training to improve detection *** show the average precision and average precision for small objects are 42.7%and 33.5%at a detection speed of 62 frames per second on a single GPU,*** shows that DLF-YOLOF has excellent performance to meet the needs of industrial real-time detection.

Stratospheric airships are long-endurance aerostats and have broad *** of the energy required for their operation is obtained from solar radiation,which makes accurate calculation of the energy output from the solar array crucial to the design and flight planning of the ***,the status of each photovoltaic module in the solar array may differ due to the airship curvature,resulting in mismatch losses and lowered output power,which has not been widely *** this paper,an irradiation model and a thermal model are established based on the actual arrangement of the *** output power model is established considering the non-uniform radiation in the *** mismatch losses of the array are analyzed under different flight *** output power of the solar array is decreased by up to 31.6%compared to the ideal ***,the proportion of mismatch losses increases with latitude,but the maximum mismatch loss power occurs at ***,an array reconfiguration method is proposed based on the irradiance dispersion index and position dispersion *** reconfigured array increases output power by 11.5%and can maintain energy balance in continuous *** results can be used to correct the overestimation of the output power during the airship design or to guide the configuration of the solar array.

Resonant beam communications (RBCom), which adopts oscillating photons between two separate retroreflectors for information transmission, exhibits potential advantages over other types of wireless optical communications (WOC). However, echo interference generated by the modulated beam reflected from the receiver affects the transmission of the desired information. To tackle this challenge, a synchronization-based point-to-point RBCom system is proposed to eliminate the echo interference, and the design for the transmitter and receiver is discussed. Subsequently,the performance of the proposed RBCom is evaluated and compared with that of visible light communications(VLC)and free space optical communications (FOC). Finally, future research directions are outlined and several implementation challenges of RBCom systems are highlighted.
