Berberine alleviates ovarian tissue damage in mice with hepatolenticular degeneration by suppressing ferroptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress

Objective:Hepatolenticular degeneration (HLD) is an autosomal recessive disorder that manifests as multiorgan damage due to impaired copper (Cu) metabolism. Female patients with HLD often experience reproductive impairments. This study investigated the protective effect of berberine against ovarian damage in toxic-milk (TX) mice, a murine model for ***:Mice were categorized into control group, HLD TX group (HLD group), penicillamine (Cu chelator)-treated TX group and berberine-treated TX group. Body weight, ovary weight and the number of ovulated eggs were recorded. Follicular morphology and cellular ultrastructure were examined. Total iron, ferrous iron (Fe2+) and trivalent iron (Fe3+) levels, as well as malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione(GSH) and oxidized glutathione (GSSG), were measured in the ovaries. Western blot analysis was used to analyze the expression of proteins related to ferroptosis and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) ***:Ovarian tissue damage was evident in the HLD group, with a significant increase in ferroptosis and ER stress compared to the control group. This damage was inhibited by treatment with penicillamine,a Cu chelator. Compared with the HLD group, berberine increased the number of ovulations, and improved ovarian morphology and ultrastructure. Further, we found that berberine reduced total iron,Fe2+, MDA and GSSG levels, elevated GSH levels, decreased the expression of the ferroptosis marker protein prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2), and increased glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4)expression. Furthermore, berberine inhibited the expression of ER stress-associated proteins mediated by the protein kinase RNA-like ER kinase (PERK) ***:Ferroptosis and ER stress are involved in Cu-induced ovarian damage in TX mice. Berberine ameliorates ovarian damage in HLD TX mice by inhibiting ferroptosis and ER stress.

Distributed event region fault-tolerance based on weighted distance for wireless sensor networks

Event region detection is the important application for wireless sensor networks（WSNs）, where the existing faulty sensors would lead to drastic deterioration of network quality of *** single-moment nodes fault-tolerance, a novel distributed fault-tolerant detection algorithm named distributed fault-tolerance based on weighted distance（DFWD） is proposed, which exploits the spatial correlation among sensor nodes and their redundant *** sensor networks, neighborhood sensor nodes will be endowed with different relative weights respectively according to the distances between them and the central *** syncretized the weighted information of dual-neighborhood nodes appropriately, it is reasonable to decide the ultimate status of the central sensor ***, readings of faulty sensors would be corrected during this *** results demonstrate that the DFWD has a higher fault detection accuracy compared with other algorithms, and when the sensor fault probability is 10%, the DFWD can still correct more than 91% faulty sensor nodes, which significantly improves the performance of the whole sensor network.

MORPHOLOGY EVOLUTION OF POLY(St-co-BuA)/SIliCA NANOCOMPOSITE PARTICLES SYNTHESIZED BY EMULSION POLYMERIZATION

Poly（St-co-BuA）/silica nanocomposite latexes were synthesized via conventional emulsion polymerization in the presence of 3-（trimethoxysilyl）propyl methacrylate modified colloidal nano-silica. The effects of surface property, particle size and content of colloidal nano-silica as well as the concentrations of monomer and surfactant on the morphology of nanocomposite latex particles were investigated by transmission electron microscope （TEM） and scanning electron microscope （SEM） in detail. Various interesting morphologies such as grape-like, Chinese gooseberry-like, pomegranate-like and normal core-shell structures were observed. Droplet nucleation mechanism competing with micelle nucleation mechanism was proposed to explain the morphological evolution of the nanocomposite particles.

Intraband Dynamics and Terahertz Emission in Biased GaAs/In_(0.53)Ga_(0.47)As Semiconductor Superlattices

Using an excitonic basis, we investigate the intraband polarization, optical absorption spectra, and terahertzemission of semiconductor superlattice with the density matrix theory. The excitonic Bloch oscillation is driven by thedc and ac electric fields. The slow variation in the intraband polarization depends on the ac electric field frequency. Theintraband polarization increases when the ac electric field frequency is below the Bloch frequency. When the ac electricfield frequency is above the Bloch frequency, the intraband polarization downwards and its intensity decreases. Thesatellite structures in the optical absorption spectra are presented. Due to excitonic dynamic localization, the emissionlines of terahertz shift in different ac electric field and dc electric field.

Calculation of Austenite Formation Kinetics of Copper-Bearing Steel During Continuous Heating

The kinetics of austenite formation in a new type of copper-bearing steel with initial microstructure composed of ferrite and bainite was investigated by using dilatometric analysis and measurement during continuous heating. The formation of austenite was observed to occur in two stages. The first stage is the dissolution of ferrite and most bainite, followed by the second stage of dissolution of bainite and formation of austenite. The first stage takes place through diffusion and the second stage through shear. The critical temperature of austenite formation during continuous heating increases with increasing heating rates, which therefore exerts a greater influence on the Ast temperature of the austenite formation. Kinetics calculation shows that the process is mainly controlled by diffusion when the heating rate is over 1℃/s.

Single-handed helical silica nanotubes were prepared according to the literature procedures,using the self-assemblies of a pair of chiral cationic low-molecular-weight gelators as the templates.A chirality indicator,4,4＇-bis（triethoxysilyl）-1,1＇-biphenyl,was developed to determine the chirality of the silica *** chirality of the surfaces and the bulky walls of the silica nanotubes were understood from the twist of the biphenylene rings.

Singular perturbation approach for control of hydraulically driven flexible manipulator

The hydraulic flexible manipulator system is divided into two parts: flexible arm dynamics and hydraulic servomechanism, a driving Jacobian is derived to connect these two parts. Taking hydraulic actuator force as virtual input, a singular perturbed composite model is formulated and used to design composite controllers for the flexible link, in which the slow subsystem controller dominates the trajectory tracking, and then a fast controller is designed to damp out the vibration of the flexible structure. Moreover, the backstepping technique is applied to regulate the spool position of a hydraulic valve to provide the required force. Simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the presented approach.

Hydrothermal hydrogenation/deoxygenation of palmitic acid to alkanes over Ni/activated carbon catalyst

To produce paraffin from hydrogenation/deoxygenation of palmitic acid,model compound of bio-oil obtained by hydrothermal liquefaction(HTL)of microalgae has been an attractive focus in recent *** order to avoid energy-intensive separation process of water and bio-oil,it is of importance that deoxygenation upgrading of fatty acids under hydrothermal conditions similar to HTL ***,it is the first time to explore the application of activated carbon(AC)-supported non-noble-metal catalysts,such as Ni,Co,and Mo,and so on,in the hydrothermal hydrogenation/deoxygenation of long-chain fatty acids,and the obtained Ni/AC-H(the Ni/AC was further H_(2)pre-reduced)is one of the best *** addition,it is found that the catalytic activity can be further improved by H_(2)pre-reduction of *** results that are more low valences of nickel and oxygen vacancy can be obtained after H_(2)pre-reduction,thus significant promoting the deoxygenation especially the decarbonylation pathway of fatty *** total alkanes yield can reaches 95.9%at optimal conditions(280℃,360 min).This work confirmed that the low-priced AC-supported non-noble-metal catalysts have great potential compared with the noble-metal catalyst,in hydrothermal upgrading of bio-oil.
