A review of the development of asphalt foaming technology

To comprehensively assess the current state-of-art in asphalt foaming technology, the following four key aspectshave been reviewed systematically: foaming principles, test methods, evaluation indicators, and influencing *** findings reveal that asphalt foaming was primarily driven by the vaporization of water, with deteriorationprocesses including bubble collapse and liquid film drainage. However, the current understanding of asphaltfoaming principles remains limited, primarily due to difficulties in capturing and precisely measuring its microscopic behaviors during asphalt foaming process. Volume changes provided an intuitive means to evaluate theexpansion capacity of asphalt and its foaming stability. Bubble evolution characteristics of foamed asphalt offeredpromising insights into its foaming performance. Traditional ruler and stopwatch-based assessments were beingsuperseded by automated techniques like laser and ultrasonic ranging. Nevertheless, the current measuringequipment still lacks the capability to comprehensively evaluate the foaming effect of asphalt across various dimensions. Asphalt temperature and foaming water consumption significantly affected asphalt foaming performance, and the inclusion of foaming agents typically led to a notable increase in the half life of foamed ***, the interaction between foaming agents and asphalt, as well as the underlying mechanisms affecting thefoaming effect, are still unclear and require further exploration. Future research should primarily focus on thecorrelation between asphalt foaming effect and mixture performance, aiming to guide the practical engineeringapplication of foamed asphalt mixtures and enlarge the advantages of such low-emission and sustainable mixtures.

A model for predicting the segregation directions of binary Geldart B particle mixtures in bubbling fluidized beds

In gas fluidization processes involving different types of particles,the mixing or segregation behavior of the solid mixture is crucial to the overall outcome of the *** study develops a model to predict the segregation directions of binary mixtures of Geldart B particles with density and size differences in bubbling fluidized *** proposed model was established by combining the particle segregation model,a previous particle segregation model,with a derived bed voidage equation of the bubbling fluidization based on the two-phase *** model was then analyzed with different function graphs of the model equations under various *** results indicated that an increase in gas velocity or volume fraction of larger particles would strengthen size segregation,causing the larger and less dense components to *** validate the model,42 sets of data collected from 6 independent literature sources were compared with the predictions of the *** the gas velocities were below 3.2 times the minimum gas velocity,the predictions were consistent with experimental *** study has shed new light on the mechanisms of particle segregation in binary fluidized systems and provides a theoretical foundation for designing and manipulating gas-solid fluidized reactors.

Non-Hermitian systems with parity–time(PT)-symmetry have been extensively studied and rapidly developed in resonance wireless power transfer(WPT).The WPT system that satisfies PT-symmetry always has real eigenvalues,which promote efficient energy ***,meeting the condition of PT-symmetry is one of the most puzzling *** power transfer under different transmission conditions is also a great *** state in the continuum(BIC)supporting extreme quality-factor mode provides an opportunity for efficient ***,we propose theoretically and demonstrate experimentally that BIC widely exists in resonance-coupled systems without PT-symmetry,and it can even realize more stable and efficient power transfer than PT-symmetric ***,BIC for efficient WPT is universal and suitable in standard second-order and even high-order WPT *** results not only extend non-Hermitian physics beyond PT-symmetry,but also bridge the gap between BIC and practical application engineering,such as highperformance WPT,wireless sensing and communications.

Stromal thrombospondin 1 suppresses angiogenesis in oral submucous fibrosis

A decline in mucosal vascularity is a histological hallmark of oral submucous fibrosis (OSF), a premalignant disease that is largely induced by betel quid chewing. However, the lack of available models has challenged studies of angiogenesis in OSF. Here, we found that the expression of thrombospondin 1 (THBS1), an endogenous angiostatic protein, was elevated in the stroma of tissues with OSF. Using a fibroblast-attached organoid (FAO) model, the overexpression of THBS1 in OSF was stably recapitulated in vitro. In the FAO model,treatment with arecoline, a major pathogenic component in areca nuts, enhanced the secretion of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 by epithelial cells, which then promoted the expression of THBS1 in fibroblasts. Furthermore, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs)were incorporated into the FAO to mimic the vascularized component. Overexpression of THBS1 in fibroblasts drastically suppressed the sprouting ability of endothelial cells in vascularized FAOs (v FAOs). Consistently, treatment with arecoline reduced the expression of CD31in v FAOs, and this effect was attenuated when the endothelial cells were preincubated with neutralizing antibody of CD36, a receptor of THBS1. Finally, in an arecoline-induced rat OSF model, THBS1 inhibition alleviated collagen deposition and the decline in vascularity in vivo. Overall, we exploited an assembled organoid model to study OSF pathogenesis and provide a rationale for targeting THBS1.

Pomegranate peel polyphenols improves diet-induced obesity and promotes adipose browning development through gut microbiota in mice

Gut microbiota regulate the activation of adipose browning， which promote energy dissipation and combat diet-induced obesity. Pomegranate peel polyphenols (PPPs) have been shown to reduce obesity， regulate lipid metabolism in adipose tissue， and modulate the composition of gut microbiota in animal fed high-fat diet (HFD). However， the role of gut microbiota in the improvement of obesity by PPPs has not been elucidated. In current study， we applied antibiotics to inhibit gut microbiota in mice fed HFD and treated with PPPs. The results showed that the inhibition of gut microbiota impair the effect of PPPs on reducing obesity and promoting adipose browning， and change the fecal metabolomic profiles in respond to PPPs. Moreover， the inhibition of gut microbiota supressed the promotive effects of PPPs on the levels of Akkermansia and microbiota-related metabolites， such as urolithin A， short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)， and bile acids (BAs)， which were associated with activating adipose browning. Therefore， our results suggested that the presence of gut microbiota is essential for PPPs to ameliorate HFD-induced obesity. The related bacteria or metabolites generated by the interaction between PPPs and microbiota promote adipose browning and facilitate the beneficial effects of PPPs.

STGNN-LMR:A Spatial–Temporal Graph Neural Network Approach Based on sEMG Lower limb Motion Recognition

Lower limb motion recognition techniques commonly employ Surface Electromyographic Signal(sEMG)as input and apply a machine learning classifier or Back Propagation Neural Network(BPNN)for ***,this artificial feature engineering technique is not generalizable to similar tasks and is heavily reliant on the researcher’s subject *** contrast,neural networks such as Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)and Long Short-term Memory Neural Network(LSTM)can automatically extract features,providing a more generalized and adaptable approach to lower limb motion *** this approach overcomes the limitations of human feature engineering,it may ignore the potential correlation among the sEMG *** paper proposes a spatial–temporal graph neural network model,STGNN-LMR,designed to address the problem of recognizing lower limb motion from multi-channel ***-LMR transforms multi-channel sEMG into a graph structure and uses graph learning to model spatial–temporal *** 8-channel sEMG dataset is constructed for the experimental stage,and the results show that the STGNN-LMR model achieves a recognition accuracy of 99.71%.Moreover,this paper simulates two unexpected scenarios,including sEMG sensors affected by sweat noise and sudden failure,and evaluates the testing results using hypothesis *** to the experimental results,the STGNN-LMR model exhibits a significant advantage over the control models in noise scenarios and failure *** experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the STGNN-LMR model for addressing the challenges associated with sEMG-based lower limb motion recognition in practical scenarios.

Crystal facet-dependent CO_(2) cycloaddition to epoxides over ZnO catalysts

With regard to green chemistry and sustainable development,the fixation of CO_(2) into epoxides to form cyclic carbonates is an attractive and promising pathway for CO_(2) *** oxides,renowned as promising eco-friendly catalysts for industrial production,are often undervalued in terms of their impact on the CO_(2)addition *** this work,we successfully developed ZnO nanoplates with(002)surfaces and ZnO nanorods with(100)surfaces via morphology-oriented regulation to explore the effect of crystal faces on CO_(2) *** quantitative data obtained from electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy indicated that the concentration of oxygen vacancies on the ZnO nanoplate surfaces was more than twice that on the ZnO nanorod *** functional theory calculations suggested that the(002)surfaces have lower adsorption energies for CO_(2) and epichlorohydrin than the(100)*** a result,the yield of cyclochloropropene carbonate on the ZnO nanoplates(64.7%)was much greater than that on the ZnO nanorods(42.3%).Further evaluation of the reused catalysts revealed that the decrease in the oxygen vacancy concentration was the primary factor contributing to the decrease in catalytic *** on these findings,a possible catalytic mechanism for CO_(2) cycloaddition with epichlorohydrin was *** work provides a new idea for the controllable preparation of high-performance ZnO catalysts for the synthesis of cyclic carbonates from CO_(2) and epoxides.

Research on the Encapsulation Device for Lunar Samples

The encapsulation of lunar samples is a core research area in the third phase of the Chinese Lunar Exploration *** seal assembly,opening and closing mechanism(OCM),and locking mechanism are the core components of the encapsulation device of the lunar samples,and the requirements of a tight seal,lightweight,and low power make the design of these core components *** this study,a combined sealing assembly,OCM,and locking mechanism were investigated for the *** sealing architecture consists of rubber and an Ag-In alloy,and a theory was built to analyze the *** of the electroplate Au coating on the knife-edge revealed that the hermetic seal can be significantly *** driving principle for coaxial double-helical pairs was investigated and used to design the ***,a locking mechanism was created using an electric initiating explosive device with orifice *** optimizing the design,the output parameters were adjusted to meet the requirements of the lunar *** experimental results showed that the helium leak rate of the test pieces were not more than 5×10^(-11) Pa·m^(3)·s^(-1),the minimum power of the OCM was 0.3 W,and the total weight of the principle prototype was 2.9 *** explosive driven locking mechanism has low *** investigation solved the difficulties in achieving tight seal,light weight,and low power for the lunar explorer,and the results can also be used to explore other extraterrestrial objects in the future.

Radial growth in Qinghai spruce is most sensitive to severe drought in the Qilian Mountains of Northwest China

Global warming and frequent extreme drought events lead to tree death and extensive forest decline,but the underlying mechanism is not *** drought years,cambial development is more sensitive to climate change,but in different phenological stages,the response rela-tionship is ***,the dynamic relationship between tree radial growth and climatic/environmental fac-tors needs to be *** thus continuously monitored radial growth of Qinghai spruce(Picea crassifolia Kom.)and environmental factors from January 2021 to November 2022 using point dendrometers and portable meteorological weather stations in the central area of the Qilian *** relationship and stability between the radial growth of Qinghai spruce and environmental factors were compared for different levels of drought in 2021 and *** year 2022 had higher temperatures and less precipitation and was drier than *** with 2021,the growing period in 2022 for Qinghai spruce was 10 days shorter,maximum growth rate(Grmax)was 4.5μm·d^(-1) slower,and the initiation of growth was 6 days *** of Qinghai spruce was always restricted by drought,and the stem radial increment(SRI)was more sensitive to precipitation and air relative *** changes in cumulative radial growth were divided into four phenological stages according to the time of growth onset,cessation,and maximum growth rate(Grmax)of Qinghai *** responses of SRI to climate change were stronger in Stage 3 and Stage 4 of 2021 and stronger in Stage 1(initiation growth stage)and Stage 3 of *** results provide important information on the growth of the trees in response to drought and for specific managing forests as the climate warms.

Evolution of hollow nanosphere to microtube in the self-assembly of chiral dansyl derivatives and inversed circularly polarized luminescence
