Dear editor,W e write to present a case report of transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy(TPRK)without mitomycin-C(MMC)for irregular astigmatism after femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis(FS-LASIK)flap *** informed consent was obtained from the patient to allow the publication of this case and associated accompanying *** study was conducted in accordance with the Helsinki *** is a surgical procedure which uses an excimer laser to ablation of both the corneal epithelium and stroma,which is widely used in clinic[1-2].The procedure may be conducted in cases where there is notable topographic irregularity or scarring following complications with the LASIK *** haze is a potential complication following TPRK,and the use of MMC as a prophylactic agent against postoperative corneal haze has been demonstrated to significantly reduce its formation after TPRK/photorefractive keratectomy(PRK).

Mitochondrial diseases are a heterogeneous group of inherited disorders character-ized by mitochondrial dysfunction,and these diseases are often severe or even ***-chondrial diseases are often caused by mitochondrial DNA ***,there is no curative treatment for patients with pathogenic mitochondrial DNA *** the rapid development of traditional gene editing technologies,such as zinc finger nucleases and tran-scription activator-like effector nucleases methods,there has been a search for a mitochon-drial gene editing technology that can edit mutated mitochondrial DNA;however,there are still some problems hindering the application of these *** discovery of the DddA-derived cytosine base editor has provided hope for mitochondrial gene *** this paper,we will review the progress in the research on several mitochondrial gene editing technologies with the hope that this review will be useful for further research on mitochondrial gene editing technologies to optimize the treatment of mitochondrial diseases in the future.

To the editor:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is an aggressive malignancy with poor long-term prognosis[1].liver cancer stem cell(CSC)can drive the metastasis,drug resistance,and recurrence of HCC[2].The regulatory mechanisms about liver cancer stemness have been investigated,which encouraged the identification and characterization of novel prognostic and therapeutic strategies for HCC[3].

Dear editor,Soil salinization is one of the main forms of global soil degradation,which seriously threatens food security production (liu et al.,2022).Proper irrigation is the main management measure to control soil salinization (Aragüés et al.,2015;Machado and Serralheiro,2017).For example,in Hetao Irrigation District in Inner Mongolia of northwestern China,the effects of irrigation,seasonal freezing-thawing,and evaporation have led to serious soil salinization *** the 1980s,autumn irrigation (AI) has typically been implemented widely in Hetao Irrigation District before soil freezing (li et al.,2010;Lu et al.,2019),to leach the salts accumulated on the surface and maintain sufficient soil moisture to create a suitable environment for the next spring sowing.
