Enhancement of vitamin A combined vitamin D supplementation on immune response to Bacille Calmette-Guerin vaccine revaccinated in Chinese infants

Objective:To investigate whether there is an association between diameter of bacille CalmetteGuerin(BCG)sears and effect of purified protein derivative(PPD)reaction anil to determine whether vitamin A(VA)combined vitamin I)(VD)supplementation influences the immune response to BCG revueeinated in Chinese ***:A cross-section and 3-month community-randomised trial was conducted.A total of 5 629 infants at 3,6 and 12 months of age in Junan County of China were examined for BCG scar ***,597 revuccinated infants were randomly assigned to supplementation(n=307)and control(n=290)*** supplementation group were daily assigned to 1 500 IU VA and 500 IU VD for 3 *** all infants were subjected to skin test with ***:The diameter of BCG sears was positively con-elated with diameter of skin indurations of PPD(r=0.17,Plio of PPD response for the supplementation group compared with that for the control group was 1.07(95%CI 1.01-1.13)for the males and 1.08(95%CI 1.00-1.17)for the *** the supplementation group,the males got larger tuberculin induration than the females[(0.73±0.2l)cm versus(0.67±0.20)cm.P<0.05)after ***:The diameter of BCG scars was effectively correlated with PPD response,which indicates BCG scar formation may be an useful tool Io evaluate the effect of tuberculosis *** combined VD supplementation may play an immunoregulatory rale in BCG *** may contribute to the prevention of childhood tuberculosis.

Glucose repression occurs in many yeast species and some filamentous fungi, and it represses the expression and secretion of many intracellular and extracellular proteins. In recent years, it has been found that many biochemical reactions in yeast cells are mediated by phosphatidylinositol (PI)-type signaling pathway. However, little is known about the relationships between PI-type signaling and glucose repression, gene expression and invertase secretion in yeasts. Many evidences in our previous studies showed that glucose repression, invertase secretion, gene expression and cell growth were mediated by inositol and PI in Saccharomyces and Schizosaccharomyces. The elucidation of the new regulatory mechanisms of protein secretion, gene expression and glucose repression would be an entirely new aspect of inositol and PI-type signaling regulation in yeasts.

BACKGROUND Peliosis hepatis(PH)is a rare benign lesion of vascular origin with a pathological characteristic of multiple blood-filled cavities in the liver *** is commonly misdiagnosed due to its lack of specificity in clinical presentation and laboratory test ***,a case of a patient with PH who was misdiagnosed with hepatic echinococcosis before operation to remove the lesions was analyzed,with an emphasis on the computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging characteristics of *** SUMMARY We outline the case of a 40-year-old Chinese female who was admitted with aggravated abdominal pain with fever for 1 *** examination at the local hospital indicated hepatic ***,discordance between imaging diagnosis,clinical history and laboratory examinations in our ***,the patient was pathologically confirmed as having PH-like changes,which recurred 1 year after operation removal of the *** Our objective is to highlight the imaging diagnostic value of PH.

In modern electronics and optoelectronics, hot electron behaviors are highly concerned, as they determine the performance limit of a device or system, like the associated thermal or power constraint of chips and the Shockley-Queisser limit for solar cell efficiency. To date, however, the manipulation of hot electrons has been mostly based on conceptual interpretations rather than a direct observation. The problem arises from a fundamental fact that energy-differential electrons are mixed up in real-space, making it hard to distinguish them from each other by standard measurements. Here we demonstrate a distinct approach to artificially(spatially) separate hot electrons from cold ones in semiconductor nanowire transistors, which thus offers a unique opportunity to observe and modulate electron occupied state, energy, mobility and even path. Such a process is accomplished through the scanning-photocurrent-microscopy measurements by activating the intervalley-scattering events and 1D charge-neutrality rule. Findings here may provide a new degree of freedom in manipulating non-equilibrium electrons for both electronic and optoelectronic applications.

基于人居环境特征的青藏高原“无人区”空间界定

青藏高原独特的高寒环境与自然条件在一定程度上限制了人口的自然分布与有序发展,形成了中国面积大、分布广的"无人区"(UPAs)。然而,当前有关"无人区"面积、分布、特征与区域差异等研究尚无定论。客观、准确界定"无人区"的空间范围,对开展青藏高原资源环境承载力评价、国家公园与生态安全屏障建设等具有重要意义。基于青藏高原居民点分布信息,据其地形、气候、生态、土地利用等要素特征,本文综合表征了居民点的自然—生态—土地利用耦合关系,率定了居民点分布上限的各要素阈值,通过多要素空间叠加构建了"无人区"评价综合模型,并以居民点分布的自然极限、生态(含氧量)下限、土地利用规律为关键阈值界定了青藏高原"无人区"空间范围并分析了其地理分布特征。研究表明:(1)以居民点分布累计比例5665 m、相对高差>2402 m、地形起伏度>8.59,气候阈值为相对湿度71。(2)根据居民点分布及人体对含氧量耐受情况,确定"无人区"的生态阈值为气压<500 hpa、大气含氧量<40%。(3)青藏高原严格"无人区"面积达1912 km2,其中新疆699 km2、四川413 km2、西藏331 km2、青海291 km2、甘肃178 km2。空间上呈零星分散状,多分布在四川贡嘎山、珠穆朗玛峰附近等极高山地区、可可西里东部—罗布泊地区;以及少部分分布在青海柴达木盆地。

Genetic background analysis and breed evaluation of Yiling yellow cattle

Traditionally, Chinese indigenous cattle is geographically widespread. The present study analyzed based on genome-wide variants to evaluate the genetic background among 157 individuals from four representative indigenous cattle breeds of Hubei Province of China： Yiling yellow cattle （YL）, Bashan cattle （BS）, Wuling cattle （WL）, Zaobei cattle （ZB）, and 21 indi- viduals of Qinchuan cattle （QC） from the nearby Shanxi Province of China. linkage disequilibrium （LD） analysis showed the LD of YL was the lowest （~=0.32） when the distance between markers was approximately 2 kb. Principle component analysis （PCA）, and neighbor-joining （NJ）-tree revealed a separation of Yiling yellow cattle from other geographic nearby local cattle breeds. In PCA plot, the YL and QC groups were segregated as expected; moreover, YL individuals clustered together more obviously. In the N J-tree, the YL group formed an independent branch and BS, WL, ZB groups were mixed. We then used the FST statistic approach to reveal long-term selection sweep of YL and other 4 cattle breeds. According to the selective sweep, we identified the unique pathways of YL, associated with production traits. Based on the results, it can be proposed that YL has its unique genetic characteristics of excellence resource, and it is an indispensable cattle breed in China.

Dual-input two-compartment pharmacokinetic model of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging in hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM: To investigate the feasibility of a dual-input two-compartment tracer kinetic model for evaluating tumorous microvascular properties in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). METHODS: From January 2014 to April 2015, we prospectively measured and analyzed pharmacokinetic parameters [transfer constant(K_(trans)), plasma flow(F_p), permeability surface area product(PS), efflux rate constant(k_(ep)), extravascular extracellular space volume ratio(V_e), blood plasma volume ratio(V_p), and hepatic perfusion index(HPI)] using dual-input two-compartment tracer kinetic models [a dual-input extended Tofts model and a dual-input 2-compartment exchange model(2CXM)] in 28 consecutive HCC patients. A well-known consensus that HCC is a hypervascular tumor supplied by the hepatic artery and the portal vein was used as a reference standard. A paired Student's t-test and a nonparametric paired Wilcoxon rank sum test were used to compare the equivalent pharmacokinetic parameters derived from the two models, and Pearson correlation analysis was also applied to observe the correlations among all equivalent parameters. The tumor size and pharmacokinetic parameters were tested by Pearson correlation analysis, while correlations among stage, tumor size and all pharmacokinetic parameters were assessed by Spearman correlation analysis. RESULTS: The F_p value was greater than the PS value(F_P = 1.07 m L/m L per minute, PS = 0.19 m L/m L per minute) in the dual-input 2CXM; HPI was 0.66 and 0.63 in the dual-input extended Tofts model and the dualinput 2CXM, respectively. There were no significant differences in the K_(ep), V_p, or HPI between the dual-input extended Tofts model and the dual-input 2CXM(P = 0.524, 0.569, and 0.622, respectively). All equivalent pharmacokinetic parameters, except for V_e, were correlated in the two dual-input two-compartment pharmacokinetic models; both Fp and PS in the dualinput 2CXM were correlated with K_(trans) derived from the dual-input extended Tofts

Ghrelin and gastrointestinal stromal tumors

Ghrelin, as a kind of multifunctional protein polypeptide, is mainly produced in the fundus of the stomach and can promote occurrence and development of many tumors, including gastrointestinal tumors, which has been proved by the relevant researches. Most gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs, about 80%), as the most common mesenchymal tumor, also develop in the fundus. Scientific research has confirmed that ghrelin, its receptors and m RNA respectively can be found in GISTs, which demonstrated the existence of a ghrelin autocrine/paracrine loop in GIST tissues. However, no reports to date have specified the mechanism whether ghrelin can promote the occurrence and development of GISTs. Studies of pulmonary artery endothelial cells in a low-oxygen environment and cardiac muscle cells in an ischemic environment have shown that ghrelin can activate the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin(PI3K/AKT/m TOR) signaling pathway. Moreover, some studies of GISTs have confirmed that activation of the PI3K/AKT/m TOR pathway can indeed promote the growth and progression of GISTs. Whether ghrelin is involved in the development or progression of GISTs through certain pathways remains unknown. Can we find a new target for the treatment of GISTs? This review explores and summaries the relationship among ghrelin, the PI3K/AKT/m TOR pathway and the development of GISTs.
