Redefinition of Early Mesoproterozoic (1800-1600Ma) stratigraphy in the northern Kongling area,China:The nucleus of Yangtze Craton and its tectonic significance

The Wujiatai Formation, which is well exposed in Huangjiatai-Xichahe region of the northern Kongling area of central Yangtze Craton, is a suite of epimetamorphic conglomerates to pebbly sandstones to fine sandstone-dolostones deposited in littoral-carbonate platform facies. The formation has angular unconformity contacts with both the overlying Neoproterozoic Nantuo Formation and the underlying Paleoproterozoic Huanglianghe Formation complex. Detrital zircons from metafine sandstones of the lower Wujiatai Formation have ages ranging from 3377 –1828 Ma, with the youngest zircons dating to about 1828 Ma. In addition, whole-rock Pb-Pb isochron ages from dolostones in the upper Wujiatai Formation yield an age of 1718±230 Ma. These dates constrain the depositional age of the Wujiatai Formation between 1800 Ma and 1600 Ma. These are the earliest Mesoproterozoic sedimentary records reported in the Kongling region, and fill the gaps in Early Mesoproterozoic stratigraphy in Yangtze Craton. Histograms of detrital zircon ages for the Wujiatai Formation reveal four major peaks at 2039 Ma, 2691 Ma, 2966 Ma and 3377 Ma, which is consistent with the ages of the basement rocks that underlie the center of Yangtze Craton, indicating that sediment provenance is mainly from the Kongling complex. The lower Wujiatai Formation mainly consists of clastic rocks, whereas the upper Wujiatai Formation consists of dolostones. This stratigraphic change implies a deepening sequence in an expanding basin with an initial cratonic rifting tectonic setting, corresponding to the initial breakup of the Columbia supercontinent in Yangtze Craton.

AIM: To clarify the value of combined use of markers for the diagnosis of gallbladder cancer and prediction of its prognosis. METHODS: Serum cancer antigens (CA) 199, CA242, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and CA125 levels were measured in 78 patients with gallbladder cancer (GBC), 78 patients with benign gallbladder diseases, and 78 healthy controls using electrochemiluminescence. CA199, CA242, CEA, and CA125 levels and positive rates were analyzed and evaluated pre-and post-operatively. Receiver operator characteristic curves were used to determine diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of GBC. Survival time analysis, including survival curves, and multivariate survival analysis of a Cox proportional hazards model was performed to evaluate independent prognostic factors. RESULTS: Serum CA242, CA125, and CA199 levels in the GBC group were significantly higher when compared with those in the benign gallbladder disease and healthy control groups (P < 0.01). With a single tumor marker for GBC diagnosis, the sensitivity of CA199 was the highest (71.7%), with the highest specificity being in CA242 (98.7%). Diagnostic accuracy was highest with a combination of CA199, CA242, and CA125 (69.2%). CA242 could be regarded as a tumor marker of GBC infiltration in the early stage. The sensitivity of CA199 and CA242 increased with progression of GBC and advanced lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). The 78 GBC patients were followed up for 6-12 mo (mean: 8 mo), during which time serum CA199, CA125, and CA242 levels in the recurrence group were significantly higher than in patients without recurrence (P < 0.01). The post-operative serum CA199, CA125, and CA242 levels in the non- recurrence group were significantly lower than those in the GBC group (P < 0.01). Multivariate survival analysis using a Cox proportional hazards model showed that cancer of the gallbladder neck and CA199 expression level were independent prognostic factors. Background: Malaria is a devastating infectious disease that disproportionally threatens hundreds of millions of people in developing countries. In the history of anti-malaria campaign, chloroquine(CQ) has played an indispensable role, however, its mechanism of action(MoA) is not fully ***: We used the principle of photo-affinity labeling and click chemistry-based functionalization in the design of a CQ probe and developed a combined deconvolution strategy of activity-based protein profiling(ABPP) and mass spectrometry-coupled cellular thermal shift assay(MS-CETSA) that identified the protein targets of CQ in an unbiased manner in this study. The interactions between CQ and these identified potential protein hits were confirmed by biophysical and enzymatic ***: We developed a novel clickable, photo-affinity chloroquine analog probe(CQP) which retains the antimalarial activity in the nanomole range, and identified a total of 40 proteins that specifically interacted and photocrosslinked with CQP which was inhibited in the presence of excess CQ. Using MS-CETSA, we identified 83 candidate interacting proteins out of a total of 3375 measured parasite proteins. At the same time, we identified 8 proteins as the most potential hits which were commonly identified by both ***: We found that CQ could disrupt glycolysis and energy metabolism of malarial parasites through direct binding with some of the key enzymes, a new mechanism that is different from its well-known inhibitory effect of hemozoin formation. This is the first report of identifying CQ antimalarial targets by a parallel usage of labeled(ABPP)and label-free(MS-CETSA) methods.

Colchicine is a neutral lipophilic tricyclic alkaloid toxic to human cells containing tubulin,[1-2]and primarily stops the proliferation of active cells in the mitotic metaphase,such as intestinal mucosal cells and hematopoietic *** is widely used in treating gout and familial Mediterranean fever,while it is also used in establishing animal and plant experimental model.[3]In the recent study,treatment of patients affected by coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)with colchicine may prove a viable path.[4]The course of colchicine poisoning can be divided into three stages,[5]and most of the patients died in the second stage(2-7 d,the multiple organ injury stage).The cause of death was heart failure[6]and bone marrow hematopoietic failure in the terminal phase.[7]Hematopoiesis is a classic sign of colchicine *** cases of colchicine poisoning have been comprehensively reported,and the target organs included heart,digestive tract,muscle,lung,kidney,hematopoietic system,etc.[8-11]This study aimed to investigate the injury of bone marrow hematopoietic system after colchicine poisoning and evaluate the therapeutic effect of bone marrow hematopoietic stimulation drugs.

The major purpose of this paper is to present a brief overview of the history and the current status of nanophotonics research in China, and to highlight some research results in the past years made by the Chinese nanophotonics communities. I will first briefly introduce the principles of nanophotonics and several of its major disciplines including photonic crystals, plasmonics and metamaterials, and related artificial acoustic structures. Then I will highlight some major progresses made by Chinese research groups in these areas with the selection made merely based on my personal taste. The aim is to let these results better known and appreciated by researchers in the Chinese communities of nanophotonics and related areas, and provide better opportunities of researchers in different areas to have more communications. I also hope that this brief introduction will help to make a better bridge to connect Chinese nanophotonics communities with the broader communities in the world.

Ultrafast Dynamics of Defect-Assisted Carrier Capture in MoS2 Nanodots Investigated by Transient Absorption Spectroscopy

MoS2 nanodots are emerging as promising semiconductor materials for optoelectronic devices. However, most of the recent attention is focused on the fabrication of MoS2 nanodots,and the survey for exciton dynamics of MoS2 nanodots remains less explored. Herein, we use femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy to investigate the carrier dynamics of MoS2 nanodots. Our results show that defect-assisted carrier recombination processes are well consistent with the observed dynamics. The photo-excited carriers are captured by defects with at least two different capture rates via Auger scattering. Four processes are deemed to take part in the carrier relaxation. After photoexcitation, carrier cooling occurs instantly within ～0.5 ps. Then most of carriers are fast captured by the defects, and the corresponding time constant increases from ～4.9 ps to ～9.2 ps with increasing pump fluence, which may be interpreted by saturation of the defect states. Next a small quantity of carriers is captured by the other kinds of defects with a relatively slow carrier capture time within ～65 ***, the remaining small fraction of carriers relaxes via direct interband electron-hole recombination within～1 ns. Our results may lead to deep insight into the fundamentals of carrier dynamics in MoS2 nanodots, paving the way for their further applications.
