Homocysteine(Hcy)is a sulfur-containing amino acid derived from the essential amino acid methionine(Met).Circulating levels of Hcy in animals can be increased by feeding on Met-enriched diets,which is generally considered *** are one of the largest groups of obligate carnivores and feed on animals high in protein and *** analyzed the Hcy metabolism pathways in 18 species of 3 taxa(Mammalia,Insecta,and Arachnida)and found that the betaine-dependent remethylation pathway(BRP)was present in all carnivorous arachnid species and mammals but absent in insects and red spider *** then studied the Hcy metabolism pathway in Pardosa *** ***,Hcy is metabolized through the transsulfuration pathway,BRP,and S-methylmethionine-dependent remethylation *** of a prior duplication event of the betaine homocysteine S-methyltransferase(BHMT)gene in the BRP,BHMTa and BHMTb are present in tandem in the genome of *** high expression levels of BHMTa and its high abundance in detoxification tissues indicate that it plays an important role in the BRP;the ability of BHMTa and BHMTb to remethylate Hcy using betaine as substrate was *** with other Hcy metabolic enzyme genes,BHMT responded quickly to the application of Hcy or *** sum,the BRP is important in Hcy metabolism in *** and in other spider species.

Community question answering(CQA)has provided an increasingly popular service where users ask and answer questions and access historical questionanswer *** a fundamental task in CQA,question similarity measure is to compute the similarity between the queried question and the historical questions which have been solved by other *** mine and use the most important semantic features as the semantic representation of questions,and try to incorporate the couplings of semantic features into vector space *** propose Coupled question similarity(CQS) model,and compute the similarity in matrix factorization *** conducted on real CQA data sets demonstrate that with the incorporation of such couplings,the performance of sentence similarity is improved compared to a variety of baseline methods significantly.

Autophagy plays an active anti-viral role in *** evidence suggests that viruses can inhibit or manipulate autophagy,thereby winning the arms race between plants and ***,we demonstrate that overexpression of an m^(6)A writer from Solanum lycopersicum,SlHAKAI,could negatively regulate pepino mosaic virus(PepMV)infection,inhibit viral RNA and protein accumulations by affecting viral m^(6)A levels in tomato plants and vice *** PepMV-encoded RNA-dependent RNA polymerase(RdRP)directly interacts with SlHAKAI and reduces its protein *** RdRP-mediated decreased protein accumulation of SlHAKAI is sensitive to the autophagy inhibitor 3-methyladenine and is compromised by knocking down a core autophagy ***,PepMV RdRP could interact with an essential autophagy-related protein,***,SlHAKAI,and SlBeclin1 interaction complexes form bright granules in the *** of Beclin1 in Nicotiana benthamiana plants abolishes the RdRP-mediated degradation of SlHAKAI,indicating the requirement of Beclin1 in this *** study uncovers that the PepMV RdRP exploits the autophagy pathway by interacting with SlBeclin1 to promote the autophagic degradation of the SlHAKAI protein,thereby inhibiting the m^(6)A modification-mediated plant defense responses.

The count of one column for high-dimensional datasets, i.e., the number of records containing this column, has been widely used in nuinerous applications such as analyzing popular spots based on check-in location information and mining valuable items from shopping records. However, this poses a privacy threat when directly publishing this information. Differential privacy (DP), as a notable paradigm for strong privacy guarantees, is thereby adopted to publish all column counts. Prior studies have verified that truncating records or grouping columns can effectively improve the accuracy of published results. To leverage the advantages of the two techniques, we combine these studies to further boost the accuracy of published results. However, the traditional penalty function, which measures the error imported by a given pair of parameters including truncating length and group size, is so sensitive that the derived parameters deviate from the optimal parameters significantly. To output preferable parameters, we first design a smart penalty function that is less sensitive than the traditional function. Moreover, a two-phase selection method is proposed to compute these parameters efficiently, together with the improvement in accuracy. Extensive experiments on a broad spectrum of real-world datasets validate the effectiveness of our proposals.

The potential association between colorectal cancer(CRC)and environmental pollutants is *** studies have found that some perfluoroalkyl acids,including perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS),induced colorectal tumors in experimental animals and promoted the migration of and invasion by CRC cells in vitro,but the underlying mechanism is ***,we investigated the effects of PFOS on the proliferation and migration of CRC cells and the potentialmechanisms involving activating the PI3K/Akt-NF-κB signal pathway and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT).It was found that PFOS promoted the growth andmigration of HCT116 cells at non-cytotoxic concentrations and increased the mRNA expression of the migration-related angiogenic cytokines vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and interleukin-8(IL-8).In a mechanistic investigation,the up-stream signal pathway PI3K/Akt-NF-κB was activated by PFOS,and the process was suppressed by LY294002(PI3K/Akt inhibitor)and BAY11-7082(NF-κB inhibitor)respectively,leading to less proliferation of HCT116 ***,matrix metalloproteinases(MMP)and EMT-related markers were up-regulated after PFOS exposure,and were also suppressed respectively by LY294002 and ***,the up-regulation of EMT markers was suppressed by a MMP inhibitor *** together,our results indicated that PFOS promotes colorectal cancer cell migration and proliferation by activating the PI3K/Akt-NF-κB signal pathway and epithelial-mesenchymal *** could be a potential toxicological mechanism of PFOS-induced malignant development of colorectal cancer.

The formation mechanism of calcium vanadate and manganese vanadate and the difference between calcium and manganese in the reaction with vanadium are basic issues in the calcification roasting and manganese roasting process with vanadium *** this work,CaO–V_(2)O_(5) and MnO_(2)–V_(2)O_(5) diffusion couples were prepared and roasted for different time periods to illustrate and compare the diffusion reaction ***,the changes in the diffusion product and diffusion coefficient were investigated and calculated based on scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) *** show that with the extension of the roasting time,the diffusion reaction gradually proceeds among the CaO–V_(2)O_(5) and MnO_(2)–V_(2)O_(5) diffusion *** regional boundaries of calcium and vanadium are easily identifiable for the CaO–V_(2)O_(5) diffusion ***,for the MnO_(2)–V_(2)O_(5) diffusion couple,MnO_(2) gradually decomposes to form Mn_(2)O_(3),and vanadium diffuses into the interior of Mn_(2)O_(3).Only a part of vanadium combines with manganese to form the diffusion production ***_(2)O_(6) and MnV_(2)O_(6) are the interfacial reaction products of the CaO–V_(2)O_(5) and MnO_(2)–V_(2)O_(5) diffusion couples,respectively,whose thicknesses are 39.85 and 32.13μm when roasted for 16 *** 16 h,both diffusion couples reach the reaction equilibrium due to the limitation of *** diffusion coefficient of the CaO–V_(2)O_(5) diffusion couple is higher than that of the MnO_(2)–V_(2)O_(5) diffusion couple for the same roasting time,and the diffusion reaction between vanadium and calcium is easier than that between vanadium and manganese.

Autophagy is a conserved intracellular degradation process that plays an active role in plant response to virus *** we report that geminiviruses counteract activated autophagymediated antiviral defense in plant cells through the C2 proteins they *** found that,in Nicotiana benthamiana plants,tomato leaf curl Yunnan virus(TLCYnV)infection upregulated the transcription levels of autophagy-related genes(ATGs).Overexpression of NbATG5,NbATG7,or NbATG8a in *** plants decreased TLCYnV accumulation and attenuated viral ***,transgenic overexpression of NbATG7 promoted the growth of *** plants and enhanced plant resistance to *** further revealed that the C2 protein encoded by TLCYnV directly interacted with the ubiquitinactivating domain of *** interaction competitively disrupted the ATG7–ATG8 binding in *** and Solanum lycopersicum plants,thereby inhibiting autophagy ***,we uncovered that the C2-mediated autophagy inhibition mechanism was conserved in three other *** summary,we discovered a novel counter-defensive strategy employed by geminiviruses that enlists their C2 proteins as disrupters of ATG7–ATG8 interactions to defeat antiviral autophagy.
