A precursor 9 of preverecynarmin was prepared by starting from isoprene and geraniol. The key steps in synthesis are the addition of sulfurstabilized carbanion to aldehyde and alkylation with allylic chloride.

The preparation of a pyrimidone analogue 2 of huperzine A is described, in which the pyridone ring of the natural alkaloid is replaced by pyimidone. The key intermediate β-ketoester 9was obtained from cyclohexane-1,4-dione Monoethylene ketal via 6 *** using the methodology of total synthesis of huperzine A. the construction of bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane moiety substructure was achieved, and 2 was finally afforded in low yield.

Reaction of C-60 with DL-valine and cyclohexanone in refluxing chlorobenzene under N-2 yields three [60]fulleropyrrolidine derivatives (mono-, bis- and triadduct) which are characterised on the basis of spectroscopies and cyclic voltammetry. It is found that the ratio of the three products greatly depends on the reaction conditions.
