A new study published in Nature by Jbara et *** identified the splicing factor“RBFOX2,”which halts metastatic spread of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)through regulating alternative splicing events.1 the results of the study provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the start of metastatic spread of PDAC *** study also indicates that pathways involved in splicing modulation could be targeted for potential therapeutic interventions in an advanced-stage PDAC.

Background:Black soldier fly(BSF)is one of the most promising species for the intensive breeding of insects given its adaptability and its efficiency in the conversion of *** maximize the production and use waste as substrates,it is essential to determine the larvae nutritional *** study aims to evaluate the effects of5 practical,semi-purified and isoenergetic diets(PSPID)with increasing protein levels(10%,CP10;14%,CP14;16%,CP16;19%,CP19)on BSF life history traits.A total of 2000 six-day-old larvae were weighed and divided into groups of 100(4 replicates/treatment[PSPID and Gainesville diet(GA)used as environmental control]).In larva-prepupa stage,sampling was carried out on 30 individuals/replicate,while in prepupa-adult stage on ***:In the whole larval stage,the CP16 treatment performed better when compared to the other ***18 days old,the CP14 treatment showed a higher weight than the CP19(Pthe CP10 and CP16weights were *** the contrary,the CP10 prepupae weight was higher than the CP19(Pthe CP10 and CP14 pupae performed better in terms of weight when compared to the others(Pthe dietary treatments did not affect the adult *** sex significantly influenced both the exuvia weight,which was the greatest in females(Pthe fly lifespan,longest in males(Pthe interaction between treatment and sex,with the CP19 females showing a longer life than the others(Pthe optimal protein level considering the whole larval stage is 16%on dry matter(DM).At 18 days old,looking at the size intended for the meal production,it can be considered 14%on *** result obtained on adult emergence in PSPID may not be attributable to the protein *** researches on macronutrients requirements determination have to be conducted to evaluate the substrates composition effects on BSF life history traits.

AIM:to evaluate the flipped classroom model for teaching horizontal strabismus didactics in an ophthalmology residency program in China as part of a visiting professorship from the United ***:Residents from an ophthalmology residency program in China were invited to participate in flipped classroom sessions taught by an experienced American ophthalmology faculty in *** were instructed to watch a pre-class video lecture prior to the in-class-casebased *** tests(5 Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program style questions)and surveys were administered before and after the classroom sessions(100%response rate).these results were compared to that of an American cohort who were taught the same ***:the Chinese cohort of 12 residents preferred the flipped classroom to the traditional classroom at higher rates than the American cohort of 40 residents(92%vs 55%,P=0.04)and felt that all ophthalmology topics would be appropriate for the flipped classroom teaching style(P-values between 0.008 andth Chinese and American cohorts,we found that the exotropia curriculum saw a small but significant improvement in performance following the flipped classroom session(P=0.025 for Chinese residents;P=0.001 for US residents),whereas scores in both groups for the esotropia course did not significantly ***:this is the first study to evaluate the flipped classroom model implemented by a visiting ophthalmology professor in a global outreach *** flipped classroom sessions are viewed favorably by the Chinese residents relative to the US cohort with a modest impact on *** in-person interpreter requirement and increased student engagement make this model valuable in cross-cultural visiting professorship ***,the flipped classroom may lend itself well to a virtual format to prevent the transmission of COVID-19,although such a format requires further study.

Objective:to estimate the potential contributions of reported changes in frequency of penile-vaginal sex(PVS),condom use and StI screening to changes in gonorrhea and chlamydial diagnoses from 2012 to ***:An agent-based model of the heterosexual population in the *** the StI *** was calibrated to 2012 diagnosis rates,testing,condom use,and frequency of *** used behaviors from the 2017-2019 NSFG,and we evaluated changes in diagnosis and incidence rates in ***:Higher testing rates increased gonorrhea and chlamydia diagnosis by 14%and 13%,respectively,but did not reduce *** frequency of PVS reduced the diagnosis rate for gonorrhea and chlamydia 6%and 3%respectively while reducing incidence by 10%and 9%*** condom use had negligible impact on diagnosis and ***:Understanding how changing behavior drives StI incidence is essential to addressing the growing *** in testing and frequency of PVS likely contributed to some,but not all,of the changes in *** research is needed to understand the context within which changing sexual behavior and testing are occurring.

to predict oil and phenol concentrations in olive fruit,the combination of back propagation neural networks(BPNNs)and contact-less plant phenotyping techniques was employed to retrieve RGB image-based digital proxies of oil and phenol *** of cultivars(×3)differing in ripening time were sampled(~10-day interval,×2 years),pictured and analyzed for phenol and oil *** to this,fruit samples were pictured and images were segmented to extract the red(R),green(G),and blue(B)mean pixel values that were rearranged in 35 RGB-based colorimetric *** BPNNs were designed using as input variables(a)the original 35 RGB indexes,(b)the scores of principal components after a principal component analysis(PCA)pre-processing of those indexes,and(c)a reduced number(28)of the RGB indexes achieved after a sparse *** results show that the predictions reached the highest mean R^(2) values ranging from 0.87 to 0.95(oil)and from 0.81 to 0.90(phenols)across the *** addition to the R^(2),other performance metrics were calculated(root mean squared error and mean absolute error)and combined into a general performance indicator(GPI).the resulting rank of the GPI suggests that a BPNN with a specific topology might be designed for cultivars grouped according to their ripening *** present study documented that an RGB-based image phenotyping can effectively predict key quality traits in olive fruit supporting the developing olive sector within a digital agriculture domain.
