In the past 20-30 years, developmental biologists have made tremendous progress in identifying genes required for the specifica-tion of individual cell types of an organ and in describing how they interact in genetic networks. In comparison, very little is known about the mechanisms that regulate tissue polarity and overall organ patterning. gynoecia and fruits from members of the Brassicaceae family of flowering plants provide excellent model systems to study organ patterning and tissue specification because they become partitioned into distinct domains whose formation is determined by polarity establishment both at a cellular and whole tissue level. Interactions among key regulators of Arabidopsis gynoecium and fruit development have revealed a network of upstream transcription factor activities required for such tissue differentiation. Regulation of the plant hormone auxin is emerging as both an immediate downstream output and input of these activities, and here we aim to provide an overview of the current knowledge regarding the link between auxin and female reproductive development in plants. In this review, we will also demonstrate how available data can be exploited in a mathematical modeling approach to reveal and understand the feedback regulatory circuits that underpin the polarity establishment, necessary to guide auxin flows.

According to Vening meinesz-moritz （Vmm） global inverse isostatic problem, either the moho density contrast （crust-mantle density contrast） or the moho geometry can be estimated by solv- ing a non-linear Fredholm integral equation of the first kind. Here solutions to the two moho parame- ters are presented by combining the global geopotential model （gOCO-03S）, topography （DTm2006） and a seismic crust model, the latter being the recent digital global crustal model （CRUST1.0） with a resolution of 1°×1°. The numerical results show that the estimated moho density contrast varies from 21 to 637 kg/m3, with a global average of 321 kg/m^3, and the estimated moho depth varies from 6 to 86 km with a global average of 24 km. Comparing the moho density contrasts estimated using our least-squares method and those derived by the CRUST1.0, CRUST2.0, and PREm models shows that our estimate agrees fairly well with CRUST1.0 model and rather poor with other models. The estimated moho depths by our least-squares method and the CRUST1.0 model agree to 4.8 km in RmS and with the gEmmA1.0 based model to 6.3 km.

The graphitic-layer encapsulated iron-containing nanoparticles(g@Fe) have been proposed as a potential type of active and stable non-precious metal electrocatalysts(NPmCs) for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR). However, the contribution of the encapsulated components to the ORR activity is still unclear compared with the well-recognized surface coordinated FeN_x/C structure. Using the strong complexing effect of the iron component with anions, cyanide(CN^-) in alkaline and thiocyanate(SCN^-) in acidic media, the metal containing active sites are electrochemically probed. Three representative catalysts are chosen for a comparison including the as-prepared encapsulated g@Fe, commercial Fe/N/C catalyst with iron–nitrogen coordinated surface functionalities and molecular iron phthalocyanine(Fe Pc) containing well-defined structures and compositions. It was found that all samples showed significant shifts of half-wave potentials indicating that surface Fe coordinated sites in all cases. The g@Fe catalyst showed the weakest poisoning effect(the lowest shifts of half-wave potential) compared to the Fe/N/C and Fe Pc catalysts in both electrolytes. These results could be explained that the encapsulated iron components influence the FeN_x/C and/or N_xC surface functionality.
