Androgen deprivation therapy （ADT） has been an essential treatment option for treating prostate cancer （PCa）. The role for hormonal treatment initially was restricted to men with metastatic and inoperable, locally advanced disease. Now it has been extended to neoadjuvant or adjuvant therapy for surgery and radiotherapy, for biochemical relapse after surgery or radiation, and even as primary therapy for non-metastatic disease. Fifty percent of PCa patients treated will receive ADT at some point. There is growing concern about the adverse effects and costs associated with more widespread ADT use. The adverse effects on quality of life （QoL）, including physical, social and psychological well-being when men are androgen-deprived, may be considerable. This review examines the QoL issues in the following areas： body feminisation, sexual changes, relationship changes, cognitive and affective symptoms, fatigue, sleep disturbance, depression and physical effects. Further suggestions for therapeutic approaches to reduce these alterations are suFuzested.

Chronic bladder dysfunction due to bladder disease or trauma is detrimental to affected patients as it can lead to increased risk of upper urinary tract dysfunction. Current treatment options include surgical interventions that enlarge the bladder with autologous bowel tissue to alleviate pressure on the upper urinary tract. This highly invasive procedure, termed bladder augmentation enterocystoplasty (BAE), significantly increases the risk of patient morbidity and mortality due to the incompatibility between bowel and bladder tissue. Therefore, patients would significantly benefit from an alternative treatment strategy that can regenerate healthy tissue and restore overall bladder function. Previous research has demonstrated the potential of citrate-based scaffolds co-seeded with bone marrow-derived stem/progenitor cells as an alternative graft for bladder augmentation. Recognizing that contact guidance can potentially influence tissue regeneration, we hypothesized that microtopographically patterned scaffolds would modulate cell responses and improve overall quality of the regenerated bladder tissue. we fabricated microgrooved (MG) scaffolds using the citrate-based biomaterial poly (1,8-octamethylene-citrate-co-octanol) (POCO) and co-seeded them with human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and CD34+ hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs). MG POCO scaffolds supported MSC and HSPC attachment, and MSC alignment within the microgrooves. All scaffolds were characterized and assessed for bladder tissue regeneration in an established nude rat bladder augmentation model. In all cases, normal physiological function was maintained post-augmentation, even without the presence of stem/progenitor cells. Urodynamic testing at 4-weeks post-augmentation for all experimental groups demonstrated that bladder capacity increased and bladder compliance was normal. we examine the intersection of the FAIR principles(Findable,Accessible,Interoperable and Reusable),the challenges and opportunities presented by the aggregation of widely distributed and heterogeneous data about biological and geological specimens,and the use of the Digital Object Architecture(DOA)data model and components as an approach to solving those challenges that offers adherence to the FAIR principles as an integral *** approach will be prototyped in the Distributed System of Scientific Collections(DiSSCo)project,the pan-European Research Infrastructure which aims to unify over 110 natural science collections across 21 *** take each of the FAIR principles,discuss them as requirements in the creation of a seamless virtual collection of bio/geo specimen data,and map those requirements to Digital Object components and facilities such as persistent identification,extended data typing,and the use of an additional level of abstraction to normalize existing heterogeneous data *** FAIR principles inform and motivate the work and the DO Architecture provides the technical vision to create the seamless virtual collection vitally needed to address scientific questions of societal importance.

A varicocele is defined as the abnormal dilation of the internal testicular vein and pampiniform venus plexus within the spermatic cord. If a semen analysis is not obtained from the adolescent male, in the absence of other symptoms, the main clinical indication used by many urologists to recommend repair is testicular atrophy. The varicocele may result in testicular damage in some males causing testicular atrophy with impaired sperm production and decreased Leydig cell function, while in other males the varicocele may seemingly cause no ill effects. In adult men, varicoceles are frequently present and surgically correctable, yet the measurable benefits of surgical repair are slight according to a Cochrane review. while occurring more commonly in infertile men than fertile men, only 20% of men with a documented varicocele will suffer from fertility problems. Most varicoceles found in adolescents are detected during a routine medical examination, and it is difficult to predict which adolescent presenting with a varicocele will ultimately show diminished testicular function in adolescence or adulthood. As in adults, the mainstay of treatment for varicocele in adolescents is surgical correction. However, unlike an adult varicocelectomy （the microsurgical approach is the most common）, treatment for an adolescent varicocele is more often laparoscopic. Nevertheless, the goals of treatment are the same in the adolescent and adult patients. Controversy remains as to which patients to treat, when to initiate the treatment, and what type of treatment is the best. This review will present the current understanding of the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of the adolescent varicocele.

Using ab initio molecular dynamics(AIMD)simulations,classical molecular dynamics(CMD)simulations,small-angle x-ray scattering(SAxS),and pulsed-field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance(PFG-NMR),the solvation structure and ion dynamics of magnesium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide(Mg(TFSI)_(2))aqueous electrolyte at 1,2,and 3 m concentrations are *** AIMD and CMD simulations,the first solvation shell of an Mg;ion is found to be composed of six water molecules in an octahedral configuration and the solvation shell is rather *** TFSI^(-)ions prefer to stay in the second solvation shell and ***,the comparable diffusion coefficients of positive and negative ions in Mg(TFSI)_(2)aqueous electrolytes have been observed,which is mainly due to the formation of the stable[Mg(H_(2)O_(6))_(2)]^(+)complex,and,as a result,the increased effective Mg ion ***,the calculated correlated transference numbers are lower than the uncorrelated ones even at the low concentration of 2 and 3 m,suggesting the enhanced correlations between ions in the multivalent *** work provides a molecular-level understanding of how the solvation structure and multivalency of the ion affect the dynamics and transport properties of the multivalent electrolyte,providing insight for rational designs of electrolytes for improved ion transport properties.

AIM: To determine the efficacy of probiotic supplementation on intestinal transit time(ITT) in adults and to identify factors that influence these outcomes. METHODS: we conducted a systematic review of randomized controlled trials of probiotic supplementation that measured ITT in adults. Study quality was assessed using the Jadad scale. A random effects meta-analysis was performed with standardized mean difference(SMD) of ITT between probiotic and control groups as the primary outcome. Meta-regression and subgroup analyses examined the impact of moderator variables on SMD of ***: A total of 15 clinical trials with 17 treatment effects representing 675 subjects were included in this analysis. Probiotic supplementation was moderately efficacious in decreasing ITT compared to control, with an SMD of 0.38(95%CI: 0.23-0.53, P with probiotics in subjects with vs without constipation(SMD: 0.57 vs 0.22, P with high vs low study quality(SMD: 0.45 vs 0.00, P = 0.01). Constipation(R^2 = 38%, P wer probiotic strains(R^2 = 20%, P were predictive of decreased ITT with probiotics in meta-regression. Medium to large treatment effects were identified with B. lactis HN019(SMD: 0.67, P while other probiotic strains yielded negligible reductions in ITT relative to ***: Probiotic supplementation is moderately efficacious for reducing ITT in adults. Probiotics were most efficacious in constipated subjects, when evaluated in high-quality studies, and with certain probiotic strains.
