Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers with a very poor prognosis. Recently, there has been a significant increase in research directed towards identifying potential biomarkers that can be used to diagnose and provide prognostic information for pancreatic cancer. These markers can be used clinically to optimize and personalize therapy for individual patients. In this review, we focused on 3 biomarkers involved in the DNA damage response pathway and the necroptosis pathway: Chromodomainhelicase-DNA binding protein 5, chromodomain-helicaseDNA binding protein 7, and mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein. The aim of this article is to review present literature provided for these biomarkers and current studies in which their effectiveness as prognostic biomarkers are analyzed in order to determine their future use as biomarkers in clinical medicine. b.sed on the data presented, these biomarkers warrant further investigation,and should be validated in future studies.

bACKGROUND Timely differentiation of biliary atresia(bA)from other infantile cholestatic diseases can impact patient ***,non-invasive staging of fibrosis after Kasai hepatoportoenterostomy has not been widely *** wave elastography is an ultrasound modality that detects changes in tissue *** authors propose that the utility of elastography in bA can be elucidated through meta-analysis of existing *** To assess the utility of elastography in:(1)bA diagnosis,and(2)post-Kasai fibrosis *** A literature search identified articles that evaluated elastography for bA diagnosis and for post-Kasai *** studies met criteria for meta-analysis:Eleven for diagnosis and nine for follow-up *** diagnostic odds ratio(DOR),sensitivity,and specificity of elastography were calculated through a random-effects model using Meta-Disc *** Mean liver stiffness in bA infants at diagnosis was significantly higher than in non-bA,with overall DOR 24.61,sensitivity 83%,and specificity 79%.Post-Kasai,mean liver stiffness was significantly higher in bA patients with varices than in patients without,with DOR 16.36,sensitivity 85%,and specificity 76%.Elastography differentiated stage F4 fibrosis from F0-F3 with DOR of 70.03,sensitivity 96%,and specificity 89%.Elastography also differentiated F3-F4 fibrosis from F0-F2 with DOR of 24.68,sensitivity 85%,and specificity 81%.CONCLUsION Elastography has potential as a non-invasive modality for bA diagnosis and surveillance *** paper’s limitations include inter-study method heterogeneity and small sample ***,standardized,multi-center studies are recommended.

Receptor-like kinases(RLKs)are plasma membrane(PM)proteins that monitor the extracellular environment and regulate various processes such as biotic *** motif(LysM)RLKs are a specific class of RLKs involved in the recognition of chitin-derived molecules produced by microorganisms(buendia et al.,2018).Notably,the LysM-RLK heterocomplex LjNFR1/LjNFR5 recognizes lipochitooligosaccharides(LCOs,also called Nod factors)leading to root nodule symbiosis(RNs)in Lotus japonicus,whereas the heterocomplexes AtLYK5/AtCERK1 and OsCEbIP/OsCERK1 recognize chitooligosaccharides(COs)leading to defense responses in Arabidopsis thaliana and rice,respectively(buendia et al.,2018).These receptors function as *** ligand binding activates the intracellular kinase activity of LjNFR1,AtCERK1,and OsCERK1,which mediate phosphorylation-dependent signaling *** mechanisms are essential to tightly control RLK homeostasis and signaling,allowing cells to respond efficiently while preventing constitutive *** PM-resident pool of RLKs must be maintained for rapid response,while RLK endocytosis and ultimately degradation in lytic vacuoles is critical for both signaling and downregulation of the *** addition to its role in proteasome-dependent degradation,ubiquitination,a post-translational protein modification,has emerged as a key regulator of PM proteins by inducing their internalization and degradation in lytic vacuoles(Romero-barrios and Vert,2018).

The bafoussam-Mamfe Region(bMR)belongs to the Western Cameroon Highland margin,an amalgam of transient landscape that evolved from the interactions between tectonics,lithology and climate *** area is tectonically active and shows differential tectonic uplift,contrasting relief,variations in erosion rates,in river incision,and in channel *** order to appraise the bMR tectono-geomorphic evolution,it is essential to understand relationships between internal and external processes and their geomorphic expression at a river b.sin *** this purpose,we use drainage texture(Dt),stream frequency(Fs),drainage density(Dd),asymmetry factor(AF),the transverse topographic symmetry factor(TTsF),the mean of mountain front sinuosity per unit(smf),concavity factor(Cf),hypsometry integral(HI)and streamlength gradient index(sL-index)b.sed on 30 m Digital Elevation Models(DEM)and field *** results reveal considerable variations in geology,relief,topography and geomorphic indices values differentiated into three geomorphic units;the Mamfe unit developed on the Mamfe Cretaceous b.sin,the Nguti and bafoussam high plateau units build up on the Precambrian granito-gneissic b.sement overlaid by a volcanic *** stepped(longitudinal and normalized)river profiles and complex hypsometric curves show the lithostructural control of the hydrographic ***(from~1.21 to~4.59),Fs(from~0.26 to~1.91),Dd(from~0.66 to~1.71)geomorphic indice values indicate a part of lithologic control on this morphology while the AF(from~1.16to~24.91),TTsF(from~0.20 to~0.71),smf(U2=1.11 and U3=1.19),Cf(from~-20.91 to~78.93),HI(from~0.12 to~0.52)and sL-index designate the active tectonics as the main factor that had controlled the morphology of this same *** results pinpoint the combined post-Pan-African to Recent tectonic features,lithologic heterogeneities and the differential erosion processes as main factors that have controlled the bMR *** results highlight how

Thermal characterization of bio-b.sed phase changing materials in decorative wood-b.sed panels for thermal energy storage

Decorative wood panels containing pouches of bio-b.sed phase changing materials(PCMs) were prepared. Three different PCM mixtures were used: a blend of capric and lauric acids as well as two commercial products, Puretemp?20 and Puretemp?23(Puretemp). The panels consist of engraved Medium Density Fiberboard(MDF) filled with a plastic pouch filled with PCM. High density fiberboard(HDF) was used on top of the panels to enclose the PCM pouches. PCM mixtures were first tested by differential scanning calorimetry(DsC). Phase change temperature and total heat storage of the panels were measured for both fusion and solidification with a Dynamic Heat-Flow Meter Apparatus(DHFMA). DsC and DHFMA results were compared, allowing a better understanding of results gathered from these two techniques. DsC calibration has been revealed important when assessing PCMs. The panels present a phase change temperature and a latent heat storage suitable for buildings applications. The panel made with Puretemp?23 presented the highest energy, with 57.1 J g^(-1). Thermal cycling was conducted on the panels to investigate thermal reliability, which revealed small modifications of thermal properties for two products. For all cases, latent heat was found stable. Hygro-mechanical behavior of the panels was also evaluated as these where designed to be esthetic decorative panels. This study exposes the potential of a new type of wood-b.sed panels loaded with PCM for thermal energy storage and brings overall knowledge about PCM products thermal characterization.

Gas transport mechanisms can be categorized into viscous flow and mass diffusion,both of which may coexist in a porous media with multiscale pore *** determine the dominant transport mechanism and its contribution to gas transport capacity,the gas viscous flow and mass diffusion processes are analyzed in single nanoscale pores via a theoretical method,and are simulated in 3D nanoporous media via pore-scale lattice boltzmann *** apparent permeability from the viscous flow and apparent diffusivity from the mass diffusion are estimated.A dimensionless parameter,i.e.,the diffusion-flow ratio,is proposed to evaluate the dominant transport mechanism,which is a function of the apparent permeability,apparent diffusivity,bulk dynamic viscosity,and working *** results show that the apparent permeability increases by approximately two orders of magnitude when the average Knudsen number(Kn_(avg))of the nanoporous media or Knudsen number(Kn)of single nanoscale pores increases from 0.1 to *** the same conditions,the increment in the apparent diffusivity is only approximately one order of *** Knbility has a lower bound(i.e.,absolute permeability).When Kn>10,the apparent diffusivity has an upper bound(i.e.,Knudsen diffusivity).The dominant transport mechanism in single nanoscale pores is the viscous flow for 0.01sion-flow ratio is less than *** nanoporous media,the dominant transport relies heavily on Kn_(avg) and the structural *** nanoporous media with the pore throat diameter of 3 nm,Kn_(avg)=0.2 is the critical point,above which the mass diffusion is dominant;otherwise,the viscous flow is *** Kn_(avg) increases to 3.4,the mass diffusion is overwhelming,with the maximum diffusion-flow ratio reaching ~4.
