Calcium potentiates the effect of estradiol on PGF2α production in the bovine endometrium

Background： Estradiol （E2） is required for luteolysis in cows and its injection stimulates prostaglandin F2α （PGF2α） release. The main goal of our study was to investigate the ability of endometrial explants and cells treated with E2 and the calcium ionophore （CI） A23187 to synthesize PGF2α. Results： Treatment with E2 in vivo resulted in a 48.4% increase of PGF2α production by endometrial explants treated in vitro with A23187. Production of PGF20 was better stimulated with A23187 at concentrations of 10^-6 and 10^-5 mol/l compared with other concentrations used. The concentration of PGF2α for untreated bovine endometrial cell cultures was 33.1 pg/ml, while for cultures treated with E2, A23187, or a combination of E2 and A23187, the PGF2α concentration was 32.5, 92.4 and 145.6 pg/ml, respectively. Conclusions： Treatment with A23187 tended to stimulate PGF20 production. In the presence of E2, A23187 significantly stimulated PGF20 synthesis. It appears that A23187 potentiates the effects of E2 with respect to synthesis of endometrial PGF2α in cattle.

Background： leptin has a strong relation to important traits in animal production, such as carcass composition,feed intake, and reproduction. It is mainly produced by adipose cells and acts predominantly in the *** this study, circulating leptin and its gene expression in muscle were evaluated in two groups of young Nellore bulls with divergent feed efficiency. Individual dry matter intake（DMI） and average daily gain（ADG） of 98 Nellore bulls were evaluated in feedlot for 70 d to determinate the residual feed intake（RFI） and select 20 animals for the high feed efficient（lRFI） and 20 for the low feed efficient（HRFI） groups. Blood samples were collected on d 56 and at slaughter（80 d） to determine circulating plasma leptin. Samples of longissimus dorsi were taken at slaughter for leptin gene expression ***： DMI and RFI were different between groups and lRFI animals showed less back fat and rump fat thickness,as well as less pelvic and kidney fat weight. Circulating leptin increased over time in all animals. Plasma leptin was greater in lRFI on 56 d and at slaughter（P = 0.0049）. Gene expression of leptin were greater in lRFI animals（P = 0.0022） in accordance with the plasma levels. The animals of the lRFI group were leaner, ate less, and had more circulating leptin and its gene ***： These findings demonstrated that leptin plays its physiological role in young Nellore bulls, probably controlling food intake because feed efficient animals have more leptin and lower residual feed intake.

Rice genes OsDjA2 and OsERF104,encoding a chaperone protein and an APETElA2/ethylene-responsive factor,respectively,are strongly induced in a compatible interaction with blast fungus,and also have function in plant susceptibility validated through gene ***,we reported the CRISPR/Cas9 knockout of OsDjA2 and OsERF104 genes resulting in considerable improvement of blast resistance.A total of 15 OsDjA2(62.5%)and 17 OsERF104(70.8%)T_(0)transformed lines were identified from 24 regenerated plants for each target and used in downstream *** of homozygous T1 mutant lines revealed not only a significant decrease in the number of blast lesions but also a reduction in the percentage of diseased leaf area,compared with the infected control *** results supported CRISPR/Cas9-mediated target mutation in rice susceptibility genes as a potential and alternative breeding strategy for building resistance to blast disease.

Recently,the focus of the origin of lower urinary tract symptoms(lUTS)has change from the prostate to the *** of the underlying mechanism associated with the origin of lUTS,alpha-blockers continue to be the most common medicine prescribed to treat lUTS due to benign prostatic obstruction(BPO).The newest class of drug introduced to treat lUTS/BPO is phosphodiesterase inhibitors(PDEi)and the aim of this study was to review the role of PDEi in the treatment of lUTS/*** this review,the first evidence was evaluated based on epidemiological studies followed by randomized clinical trials which provide evidence on the administration of PDEi in patients with lUTS/*** studies were also assessed to tentatively elucidate the association between lUTS and erectile dysfunction,and to elucidate the underlying *** is still controversy regarding the administration of PDEi due to the fear of detrusorimpairment,response to acute administration,and the effects of PDEi combined with *** this review,we conclude that treatment of BPO/lUTS with PDEi is beneficial,based on experimental studies,strong evidence and the large number of randomized clinical trials confirming their efficiency.

Pharmaceutical co-crystals have been explored by many researchers as a strategy to optimize physicochemical properties of solid-state *** improvements of solubility,bioavailability,and the reduced tendency for phase transformation occurrence,are factors that highlight benefits of pharmaceutical co-crystals among other solid *** to the Biopharmaceutical Classification System(BCS),non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)are class Ⅱ drugs,which have low aqueous solubility and therefore co-crystallization has the potential to optimize NSAID product *** this review,we highlight the recent progress made on NSAIDs co-crystals,their co-formers,synthesis,methods and use,while we underline some promising results on in vitro and in vivo co-crystal properties.A celecoxib-tramadol co-crystal reaches phase Ⅲ clinical trials,showing greater analgesic activity than both individual *** aqueous solubility of the co-crystal formed between l-proline and diclofenac is very high in comparison with the pure *** co-crystals with urea and thiourea have an increase of drug release of almost 60%.Co-crystal design brings a new perspective in drug development since the co-former used can also be a biologically active component allowing to combine different anti-inflammatory drugs,which have an incredible spectrum of application due to the analgesic,anti-pyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.

This paper presents a resource allocation scheme for wireless networks, aiming at optimizing the users’ data delay. It is proposed to provide optimal delay al-location by solving an optimization problem using idle state prediction and considering 5G characteristics such as mmWave propagation. The perfor-mance of the resource allocation algorithm is verified and compared with oth-ers from the literature using computational simulations in terms of Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as throughput, delay, fairness index, loss rate and computational complexity. In these simulations, it is also considered the mmWave propagation and carrier aggregation technology for wireless next generation systems, in order to verify the system performance in a high data rate scenario.

Dear Editor,The severe coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is associated with ***,such as low-molecular-weight heparin,warfarin,thrombin inhibitors,and factor Xa(FXa)inhibitors,are thus recommended by the American Society of Hematology and National Institutes of Health for COVID-19 patients(Wenzler et al.,2020;Adam et al.,2021).Clinical trials with anticoagulants have shown the increased survival of critically ill COVID-19 patients under non-invasive and invasive ventilatory assistance(Wenzler et al.,2020;Adam et al.,2021),along with decreased consumption of platelets and clotting factors and a reduced risk of hemorrhage(Adam et al.,2021).Among the anti-clotting agents,early use of orally available FXa and thrombin inhibitors(Chowdhury et al.,2020;Rentsch et al.,2021)prevented high levels of D-dimer,which is the final product from the clotting/fibrinolysis cascade and is directly implicated with severe COVID-19(Rentsch et al.,2021).

Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine associations between the late diagnosis of oral cancer and demographic/clinical factors. A quantitative cross-sectional study was carried out in 2007. Material and Method: Oral tumors were recorded based on the TNM staging system, with T1 and T2 considered early diagnosis and T3 and T4 considered late diagnosis. Results: Patient age ranged from 30 to 105 years (mean: 64.7). Just over half of the patients (54.9%) resided in urban areas and approximately 1/4 (25.7%) had an agricultural occupation. The majority had smoking habits (89.9%) and consumed alcohol (62.5%). The most frequent tumor site was the tongue (42.4%), followed by the hard palate (19.2%) and lip (12.2%). The majority (70.1%) were in advanced stages (III and IV). A greater percentage of smokers were in advanced stages than non-smokers. The percentage of cases in the early stages was lowest when the tumor was located in the tongue (14.1%) and highest when located in the buccal mucosa (80.0%). Conclusion: The main causes of the late diagnosis of oral cancer are insufficient training on the part of physicians and dentists in the field of pathology, delays on the part of patients in seeking medical assistance and deficient access to quality medical care, reflecting the absence of preventive public health programs and an effective healthcare system.

Several pharmaceutical compounds have been detected in natural aqueous systems and ibuprofen (IBF), one of the most consumed medicament, has been detected in many countries. The degradation efficiency of IBF under TiO2/UV radiation was evaluated. Optimum degradation results were observed using 20 mg·l-1 of TiO2, pH 7.8 and 5 mg·l-1 of IBF. Under these experimental conditions total IBF removal was achieved in less than 60 min of irradiation. Although total IBF concentration was observed, the total mineralization of the compound was not achieved. The by-products generated during TiO2/UV reaction showed to be more toxic against Daphnia similis than the initial IBF present in aqueous solution.
