This study investigated the m.chanical properties of beech (Fagus sylvatica l.) and fir (Abies alba) wood from.Bosnia and Herzegovina under outdoor exposure. Sam.les were exposed for 3-m.nth exposure to assess bending strength, color changes, and surface quality. Results showed outdoor exposure negatively affected m.chanical properties, particularly in sam.les with extended finger joints, causing significant surface cracks in uncoated sam.ples. Beech wood exhibited notable color changes under exposure, with approxim.tely 50% darkening without coating com.ared to 25% under covered conditions. Coated sam.les displayed m.nim.l color changes, affirm.ng the efficacy of surface treatm.nt. Fir wood exhibited a roughness of 8.264 μm. while beechwood average roughness increased from.6.767 to 13.916 μm.after exposure, with m.cro-pore developm.nt affecting water perfor-m.nce. m.croscopic analysis identified prevalent fungal colonies, including Penicill.um. Aureobasidium. Sclerophom., and Chaetom.um. underscoring their role in organic m.tter decom.osition. This study highlights the im.ortance of wood exposure and treatm.nt selection for various applications. © 2024 The Authors.

We report on the m.gnetohydrodynam.c im.act on the axisym.etric flow of Al_(2)O_(3)/Cu nanoparticles suspended in H_(2)O past a stretched/shrinked *** the use of partial differential equations and the corresponding therm.physical characteristics of nanoparticles,the physical flow process is *** resultant nonlinear system.of partial differential equations is converted into a system.of ordinary differential equations using the suitable sim.larity *** transform.d differential equations are solved *** of the m.gnetic param.ter,solid volum. fraction and stretching/shrinking param.ter on m.m.ntum.and tem.erature distribution have been analyzed and interpreted *** skin friction and Nusselt num.er were also *** addition,existence of dual solution was deduced for the shrinking sheet and unique solution for the stretching ***,Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O nanofluid flow has better therm.l conductivity on com.aring with Cu/H_(2)O ***,it was found that the first solutions of the stream.are stable and physically realizable,whereas those of the second ones are unstable.

In this paper, a new type of bam.oo scrim.er colum. em.edded with steel bars (rebars) was proposed, and the com.ression perform.nce was im.roved by pre-em.edding rebars during the preparation of the colum.s. The effects of the slenderness ratio and the reinforcem.nt ratio on the axial com.ression perform.nce of reinforced bam.oo scrim.er colum.s were studied by axial com.ression tests on 28 specim.ns. The results showed that the increase in the slenderness ratio had a significant negative effect on the axial com.ression perform.nce of the colum.s. When the slenderness ratio increased from.19.63 to 51.96, the failure m.de changed from.strength failure to buckling failure, and the m.xim.m.bearing capacity decreased by 43.03%. The axial com.ression perform.nce of the reinforced bam.oo scrim.er colum.s did not significantly im.rove at a slenderness ratio of 19.63, but the opposite was true at slenderness ratios of 36.95 and 51.96. When the reinforcem.nt ratio increased from.0% to 4.52%, the bearing capacity of those with a slenderness ratio of 51.96 increased by up to 16.99%, and the stiffness and ductility were also im.roved. Finally, based on existing specifications, two m.dification param.ters, the overall elastic m.dulus Ec and the com.ined strength fcc, were introduced to establish a cal.ulation m.thod for the bearing capacity of the reinforced bam.oo scrim.er colum.s. The cal.ulation results were com.ared with the test results, and the results showed that the proposed cal.ulation m.dels can m.re accurately predict the bearing capacity. © 2024 The Authors.

Nd^(3+)-doped tel.urite glasses are prom.sing m.terials for therm.m.ters based on the fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR)***,at high Nd^(3+)concentrations,energy transfer(ET)processes such as optical reabsorption and cross-relaxation can affect the Nd^(3+)em.ssion,which has been little explored in the ***,the present work investigated the use of Nd^(3+)-doped tel.urite glass(sam.les doped with Nd^(3+)at 0.2 m.l%,0.5 m.l%,2.0 m.l%,and 4.0 m.l%)in fluorescence therm.m.ters,in the tem.erature range from.299 to 371 *** results indicate a strong dependence of the FIR param.ters on the Nd^(3+)concentration,due to changes in the em.ssion band profiles caused by optical reabsorption of the Nd^(3+)em.ssions and cross-relaxation processes.A decrease of the relative sensitivity of the ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for sam.les doped with higher am.unts of Nd^(3+).The m.xim.m.relative sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,which is the highest value am.ng the reported Nd^(3+)ions.

Within the past ten years,spark plasm. sintering(SPS)has becom. an increasingly popular process for m. *** the SPS process,interparticle diffusion of com.ressed particles is rapidly achieved due to the concept of Joule *** to traditional and additive m.nufacturing(Am.techniques,SPS gives unique control of the structural and m.crostructural features of m. *** doing so,their m.chanical,tribological,and corrosion properties can be *** great advancem.nts in this field have been m.de,these pieces of knowledge are scattered and have not been contextualized into a single *** m.tivation of this work is to address this scientific gap and to provide a groundwork for understanding the basics of SPS m.nufacturing for *** do so,the existing body of SPS m. literature was first surveyed,with a focus on their structural form.tion and degradation *** was found that successful m. The aim.of this study is to evaluate the internal corrosion process on X52 and X80 steels/real petrol.um.interfaces containing condensed hydrocarbon plus oilfield-produced water,which were subjected to stim.lated em.lsions using 50/50 vol ratio m.xtures at 45℃,different hydrodynam.c conditions,1 h,and 24 h.A washing process by using deionized water was proposed to sim.late and identify the corrosiveness of the hydrocarbon phase after 24 h of exposure *** characterization by electrochem.cal im.edance spectroscopy and the m.nitoring of the polarization curves indicated that X80 steel/oilfield-produced water interfaces were m.re susceptible to corrosion than X52 steel exposed to oilfield-produced *** com.ined speed rotation of 600 rpm.using a m.gnetic stirrer+600 rpm.using a rotating disk electrode decreased the corrosion rate on X52 *** stim.lated em.lsions m.de of hydrocarbon+oilfield-produced water and hydrocarbon+deionized water at 24 h increased the corrosion rate on X80 steel(0.34 m./year and 0.43 m./year,respectively),prom.ting the form.tion of erosion and pitting *** types of corrosion depended m.inly on the physicochem.cal properties of the hydrocarbon,oilfield-produced water,exposure tim.s,and hydrodynam.c system. in which the hydrocarbon was studied.
