Geminiviruses, in particular the members of the genus Begomovirus , are considered to be a major phytosanitary problem for tomato crops production in the world. They are responsible for yield losses of up to 20% to 100%. Regrettably, Togo is not spared from this situation. This work aims to show the genetic diversity of the begomoviruses affecting tomato crops production in Togo and their relationship with other begomoviruses. To achieve these objectives, 307 samples of tomato leaves and wild plant species with typical virus symptoms were collected in the Maritime, Plateaus, Central, Kara and Savannah regions and submitted to PCR analysis. The results revealed the presence of begomovirus in 25.40% of the analyzed samples. The PCR products obtained were submitted to direct sequencing. Phylogenetic analysis of sequences of DNA-A different regions of begomovirus identified in this work with that of other begomoviruses showed a nucleotide identity of 96% respectively for Tomato leaf curl Togo virus-Fontem, Tomato leaf Curl Togo Virus , Ageratum leaf curl Cameroon Alphasatellite;98% respectively to Tomato leaf curl Nigeria virus , Ageratum leaf curl Cameroon virus , Tomato leaf curl Cameroon virus-Fontem, Ageratum leaf curl Cameroon virus and 99% respectively to Tomato leaf curl Kumasi virus , Pepper yellow vein Mali virus Bazegahot and Pepper yellow vein Mali virus-Ouaga. These results suggest a high degree of genetic diversity of tomato begomoviruses identified in Togo.

Trends of Macrosomia at University Clinics of Kinshasa

Context. The prevalence of macrosomia varies through the world according to racial and ethnic factors, life style and importance of non communicable diseases (maternal obesity, diabetes-gestational and type 2), post-term gestation and multiparity. At the University Clinics of Kinshasa (UCK), 30 years ago, the frequency of macrosomia was 2.4%. Objectives. To update data on the frequency of macrosomia at UCK, regarding variations in maternal anthropometrics (obesity) and socio-demographic factors. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted at UCK from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2016. Mothers who delivered babies weighing at least 4000 g were included in this study. Results. The frequency of macrosomia was 3.7%. Trend shows a variation of this frequency over time with lowest frequency (2.1%) in 2012 and highest (5.3%) in 2009. The mother average age and parity were 32.3 ± 5.4 years and 3 ± 2, respectively. Pregnancies were complicated by polyhydramnios (48%) and gestational diabetes (19.7%). Caesarean section was performed in 60.5% cases, mainly for macrosomia (47.8%) and 81.6% of newborns had constitutional macrosomia. Adverse obstetrical outcomes of macrosomia were dominated by caesarean section (28.9%), lacerations of birth canal (23%) and neonatal distress (9.2%). Conclusion. Macrosomia remains a constant finding at UCK, and is associated with maternal, fetal and neonatal adverse outcomes. Trend shows a variation of the frequency over time between 2.1% and 5.3%.

Context: Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and plays an important role in human reproduction. However, micronutrient deficiency is a major public health problem, particularly in developing countries. This study aimed to establish reference intervals (RIs) for vitamin E in black Congolese people of childbearing age using an ElISA method to provide a reference for clinically assessing vitamin E status. Methods: A total of 127 healthy people between the ages of 20 and 42 who underwent check-ups were randomly selected for the study. ElISA method measured the level of vitamin E. The effect of gender on vitamin E level was assessed, and RI was established using a parametric approach. Results: Women showed significantly higher levels of vitamin E than men (p = 0.01). The RI of vitamin E in people of childbearing age was 3.71 to 13.72, 4.52 to 14.64, and 4.17 to 13.52 mg/l, respectively, for the whole population, women and men. Conclusion: Using an ElISA method, this study established RI for vitamin E in the black Congolese population of childbearing age. We also found that women had significantly higher vitamin E levels than men. The results could provide a scientific basis for interpreting vitamin status in people of childbearing age in our setting.

Background: This document includes recommendations and guidelines issued by a group of Mexican researchers and specialists gathered in the First National Colloquium for the Diagnosis and Management of Chronic Myeloid leukaemia (CMl) by initiative of Instituto Nacional de Cancerología and with the support of the leukaemia Department of the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Mexico lacks of updated information taken from its own reality on the diagnosis and treatment of CMl and other haematological disorders;besides, there are no national guidelines. Aim: To publish a consensus document with guidelines for the management of CMl adjusted to the national environment and overall characteristics. Method: The participants answered a DElPHI questionnaire about the overall aspects of the disease, aiming to target controversial topics, discuss them in the colloquium, and to agree on the best ones. After those meetings, a final document was drawn up. Results: The group presents recommendations for definition, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and treatment of CMl in Mexico. Conclusions: Having consensus guidelines for the clinical management of CMl in our country will enable the consensual practice of Mexican specialists regarding the clinical approach to CMl, as well as optimize the resources which allow the rational planning of the medical care strategies.

The present study was undertaken to determine the pathogenic and the genetic diversity of the isolates of *** collected from the wet,intermediate and dry zones of Sri lanka with a view to develop rice varieties conferring durable resistance to rice *** significant morphological or growth variations existed amongst the isolates *** genetic diversity of isolates determined by carrying out Pot2 transposable element based on repetitive-PCR revealed that the majority of isolates （92%） clustered into a single group with 45.4% *** existence of nine pathotypes was identified by observing the reaction type of isolates on 16 different rice *** 1 which was distributed in all zones affected only one differential *** 2 which was able to infect six lines was restricted only to the dry zone of Sri *** the 16 rice lines,seven lines,K3 （Pik-h）,C101A51 （Piz5）,K1 （pita）,C105TTP2l9 （pita）,K59 （Pit）,Shin （Pish） and WHD-1S-75-1-127 （Pi9） had highly effective blast *** of the isolates of the fungus showed any virulence against the seven *** seven blast resistant lines can be used in the breeding programmes in Sri lanka for development of lines conferring durable resistance to rice blast.

Influence of Nitrogen-Potassium Fertilizers on the Growth and the Productivity Parameters of Plantain Banana pita 3, FHIA 21 and CORNE 1

This study was undertaken to measure the impact of fertilizers (nitrogen-potassium) on the growth and the development of plantain banana. Different doses of fertilizers (T2, T3, T4, T5 and T6) were applied to two hybrid varieties (pita 3 and FHIA 21) and a traditional variety (CORNE 1) on an experimental split plot plan with a planting density of 2500 plants per hectare. Results showed that fertilizers improve parameters of plantain than control (T1). T6 with high potassium content (240 kg·ha−1 N and 987 kg·ha−1 K) improved the growth (35.72 ± 0.95 cm·month−1) and the widening (9.56 ± 0.17 cm·month−1) of pita 3, and performed FHIA 21 agronomic parameters by reducing the length of the production cycle and increased the length of fruits. T2 treatment improved FHIA 21 agronomic and yield parameters. Also, the weight of CORNE 1 regimens (9.00 ± 0.67 kg) and fruits (296.59 ± 4.50 g), the length (33.37 ± 0.31 cm) and the circumference (14.73 ± 0.31 cm) increased with T2. T4 induced shorter production cycle of pita 3 (390.40 ± 0.67 cm·month−1), improved pita3 regimens weight (10.33 ± 0.44 kg) and the number of hands by regimen (6.00 ± 0.00) of FHIA 21. T3 with weak nitrogen content (120 kg·ha−1 N and 658 kg·ha−1 K) improved the characteristics of pita 3 fruit

Cereal-fruit and/or cereal-vegetable combined system has been increasing due to high antioxidant status of cereal products. In present study, the quality characteristics and antioxidant properties of Gaziantep pita (regional flat bread in Turkey) fortified with black carrot fiber (BCF) were evaluated. The changes of total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidant activity (AA), color, physical and sensorial characteristics of Gaziantep pita were examined the effect of BCF addition from 0% to 7.5%(w/w). There is a regular increase for TPC and AA of both outer and inner parts of the bread due to BCF level used. Physical properties were not affected by BCF addition up to 2.5% level. The higher the BCF level use resulted in the darker color of outer and inner parts of the bread. Overall acceptability bread containing all BCF levels is not different from control sample. BCF fortification of flat bread is a simple way to increase antioxidant content and provide more attractive appearance. It could be an alternative way to produce functional bread type for healthy diet.
