Peripheral.nerve injuries induce a severe motor and sensory deficit. Since the availability of autologous nerve transpl.nts for nerve repair is very limited, alternative treatment strategies are sought, including the use of tubular nerve guidance conduits(tnGCs). However, the use of tnGCs results in poor functional recovery and central.necrosis of the regenerating tissue, which limits their application to short nerve lesion defects(typically shorter than 3 cm). Given the importance of vascularization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabl.ng the growth of blood vessels from the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tnGC would help eliminate necrotic processes and lead to improved regeneration. In this study, we reported the application of macroscopic holes into the tubular walls of silk-based tnGCs and compared the various features of these improved silk^(+) tnGCs with the tubes without holes(silk^(–) tnGCs) and autologous nerve transpl.nts in an 8-mm sciatic nerve defect in rats. Using a combination of micro-computed tomography and histological analyses, we were able to prove that the use of silk^(+) tnGCs induced the growth of blood vessels from the adjacent tissue to the intraluminal.neovascular formation. A significantly higher number of blood vessels in the silk^(+) group was found compared with autologous nerve transpl.nts and silk^(–), accompanied by improved axon regeneration at the distal coaptation point compared with the silk^(–) tnGCs at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-mm(critical size) sciatic nerve defect model, we again observed a distinct ingrowth of blood vessels through the tubular walls of silk^(+) tnGCs, but without improved functional recovery at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves that macroporous tnGCs increase the vascular supply of regenerating nerves and facilitate improved axonal regeneration in a short-defect model but not in a critical-size defect model. We study blow-up, global existence and ground state solutions for the n-coupled focusing nonl.near SchrSdinger equations. Firstly, using the nehari manifold approach and some variational techniques, the existence of ground state solutions to the equations （CnlS） is established. Secondly, under certain conditions, finite time blow-up phenomena of the solutions is derived. Finally, by introducing a refined version of compactness lemma, the l2 concentration for the blow-up solutions is obtained.

The construction of frame wavelets with compact supports is a meaningful problem in wavelet analysis. In particular, it is a hard work to construct the frame wavelets with explicit analytic forms. For a given n × n real expansive matrix A, the frame-sets with respect to A are a family of sets in R^n. Based on the frame-sets, a class of high-dimensional frame wavelets with analytic forms are constructed, which can be non-bandlimited, or even compactly supported. As an application, the construction is illustrated by several examples, in which some new frame wavelets with compact supports are constructed. Moreover, since the main result of this paper is about general dilation matrices, in the examples we present a family of frame wavelets associated with some non-integer dilation matrices that is meaningful in computational geometry.

Pale, soft, exudative-like （PSE-like） broiler muscle is a growing problem for meat industry all over the world. However, limited studies have been made to assess broiler meat quality in China. The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics and incidence of PSE-like broiler muscle commercially produced in China. A total of 1 274 Pectoralis muscles of Arbor Acre broiler were randomly obtained from the processing l.ne to determine the commercial incidence of PSE-like muscle based on color. Furthermore, broiler Pectoralis muscles selected from the 1 274 muscle samples were classified as PSE-like muscle （l＊〉53, n=33） and normal muscle （l＊〉48 and l＊=53, n=33） to assess meat quality. It was determined that PSE-like muscle had lower muscle pH values, lower water-holding capacity （WHC）, lower sarcoplasmic protein solubility, and lower total protein solubility than the normal muscle did. SDS-PAGE profile also showed that bands of approximate 96 and 24 kDa in sarcoplasmic protein and myofibrillar protein varied between these two groups, suggesting partial denaturation of sarcoplasmic proteins and precipitation on myofillarments. Correlation analysis showed that l＊ values have significant correlation with WHC and protein solubility. Furthermore, the distribution of l＊ values exhibited a normal curve with range varying from 42.70 to 58.37. It was considered that approximately 23.39% of the population was PSE-like muscle. These results suggest that PSE-like meat can represent a significant portion of commercially processed broiler breast meat in China and that the l＊ value measurement could be used to sort broiler meat quality using a cut-off point.

Objective To monitor the level of phthalates in human semen samples and to analyze the relationship between phthalate levels and semen parameters. Methods Concentrations of three kinds of commonly used phthalates （di-ethyl phthalate, DEP; di-n-butyl phthalate, DBP; di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate, DEHP） were measured using reversed-phase HPlC. Semen parameters were measured by computer aided sperm analysis （CASA）. Results The three phthalates were detected in most of the biological samples, with median levels of 0.30 mg/l （0.08-1.32 mg/l） in semen specimens. There was a significant positive association between liquefied time of semen and phthalate concentrations of semen. The correlation coefficient was 0.456 for DEP, 0.475 for DBP, and 0.457 for DEHP, respectively. There was no significant difference between phthalate concentrations of semen and sperm density or livability, though the correlation coefficients were negative. Conclusion These results suggest that people who reside in Shanghai are exposed to phthalates, especially to DBP and DEHP. Although the level of phthalates is relatively mild, an association of phthalate levels and reduced quality of human semen has been shown in the present study.

The properties of C-H vibration softening for CH2 and CHa radicals absorbed on Cun（n=1-6） clusters have been investigated, using the density functional theory with hybrid functional. The results indicate that the absorption of CH2 on Cu clusters is stronger than the case of CH3. The vibrational frequencies of C-H bonding agree with the experimental results obtained for CH2 and CH3 absorbed on Cu（111）. With the increase of cluster size, the softening （Einstein shift） of C-H vibrational modes become stronger.

BACKGROUnD： The Wnt/β-catenin signal.ng pathway plays an important role in neural development. ,β-catenin is an important component of the Wnt/β-catenin signal.ng pathway. The Wnt signal.ng pathway has been shown to regulate the interaction of neural stem cells with the extracellular matrix. OBJECTIVE： To investigate the effects of basic fibroblast growth factor （bFGF） on β-catenin protein and mRnA expression, and on hippocampal.neural stem cell proliferation in a rat model of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion. DESIGn, TIME AnD SETTInG： A randomized, controlled, neurobiology experiment was performed in Shenyang Medical College between August 2006 and August 2008. MATERIAlS： A total of 72 healthy male Wistar rats, aged 3 months, were used in this study. bFGF was provided by Beijing Sl Pharmaceutical Co.,ltd., China. METHODS： Rats were randomly divided into 3 groups： sham-operated, ischemia/reperfusion, and bFGF-treated （n = 24 per group）. Focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion was induced in rats from the ischemia/reperfusion group and the bFGF-treated group by 2 hour right middle cerebral artery occlusion and 2 hour restoration of blood flow using the suture method. The ischemia/reperfusion and bFGF-treated groups were intraperitoneally administered 500 IU/ml of bFGF, or the same volume of physiological sal.ne, once a day at postoperative days 1 3, and once every 3 days thereafter. Simultaneously, the sham-operated group underwent experimental procedures identical to the ischemia/reperfusion and bFGF-treated groups, with the exception of ischemia/reperfusion induction and drug administration. At 2 hours, 2, 6, 13, and 20 days after ischemiaJreperfusion induction, 50 mg/kg bromodeoxyuridine （BrdU） was administered to each group, twice daily, to label proliferating neural stem cells. The number and stacking order of layers are two important degrees of freedom that can modulate the properties of 2D van der Waals(vdW) materials. However, the layers’ structures are essentially limited to the known layered 3D vdW materials. Recently, a new 2D vdW material, MoSi2n4, without known 3D counterparts, was synthesized by passivating the surface dangl.ng bonds of non-layered 2D molybdenum nitride with elemental silicon, whose monolayer can be viewed as a monolayer Mon(-n-Mo-n-)sandwiched between two Si-n layers. This unique sandwich structure endows the MoSi2n4monolayer with many fascinating properties and intriguing applications, and the surface-passivating growth method creates the possibility of tuning the layer’s structure of 2D vdW materials. Here we synthesized a series of MoSi2n4(Mon)4nstructures confined in the matrix of multilayer MoSi2n4. These super-thick monolayers are the homologous compounds of MoSi2n4, which can be viewed as multilayer Mon(Mo4n+1n4n+2)sandwiched between two Si-n layers. First-principles calculations show that MoSi2n4(Mon)4monolayers have much higher Young’s modulus than Mo n, which is atributed to the strong Si-n bonds on the ***, different from the semiconducting nature of the Mo Si2n4monolayer, the MoSi2n4(Mon)4monolayer is identified as a superconductor with a transition temperature of 9.02 K. The discovery of MoSi2n4(Mon)4nstructures not only expands the family of 2D materials but also brings a new degree of freedom to tailor the structure of 2D vd W materials, which may lead to unexpected novel properties and applications.
