Effect of Isothermal Annealing on Nano Ti-Carbides Precipitation

Transmission electron microscopy was used to investigate the effect of isothermal holding temperature and time on the nano Ti-precipitates.A holding temperature was varied systematically from 400℃ to 1200℃.The isothermal holding was continued for 30s,300s and 900s,*** carbides of (Ti,Nb)C were precipitated significantly at 900℃.The size of carbides was approximately 10nm at 30s holding and increased to 20～30nm at 900s *** holding at 1000℃ showed the increased amount of carbides larger than *** 800℃,nano (Ti,Nb)C was not observed at 30s and it was examined at *** size of nano (Ti,Nb)C was smaller than that of 900℃.As the isothermal temperature decreased to 700 ℃,the nano (Ti,Nb)C was only seen at 900s holding and the size of carbides was smaller than *** (Ti,Nb)C was disappeared at isothermal holding below 600℃.The kinetics of nano (Ti,Nb)C precipitation were studied as a function of isothermal holding temperature and time,respectively,using the precipitate growth equations.

Efective Object Identification and Association by Varying Coverage Through RFID Power Control

This paper presents an effective power scheduling strategy for energy efficient multiple objects identification and association. The proposed method can be utilized in many heterogeneous surveillance systems with visual sensors and RFID （radio-frequency identification） readers where energy efficiency as well as association rate are critical Multiple objects positions and trajectory estimates are used to decide the power level of RFID readers. Several key parameters including the time windows and the distance separations are defined in the method in order to minimize the effects of RFID coverage uncertainty. The power cost model is defined and incorporated into the method to minimize energy consumption and to maximize association performance. The proposed method computes the power cost using the range of the outermost position for possible single association and group associations at every sampling time. An RFID reader is activated with the proper coverage range when the power cost for the current time is lower than the power cost for the next time sample. The simplicity of the power cost model relieves the problematic combinatorial comparisons in multiple object cases. The performance comparison simulation with the minimum and maximum energy consumption shows that the proposed method achieves fast single associations with less energy consumption. Finally, the realistic comparison simulation with the fixed range RFID readers demonstrates that the proposed method outperforms the fixed ranges in terms of single association rate and energy consumption.

·AIM: To evaluate the stability of neodymium(Nd):YAG laser posterior capsulotomy in eyes with capsular tension rings(CTRs).·METHODS: A total of 60 eyes that underwent cataract surgery and laser posterior capsulotomy postoperatively were included in this retrospective cohort study. To evaluate the safety and stability of capsulotomy, changes in the size of posterior capsulotomy and anterior chamber depth(ACD) in three groups: the group without CTR, the group with 12 mm CTRs, and the group with 13 mm CTRs, at 1wk, 3, 12, and 15mo after capsulotomy, were compared. ·RESULTS: In the group without CTR and the group with 12 mm CTR, there was no significant change in ACD at every post-laser follow-up. In the group with 13 mm CTR, the ACD change was significant until 3mo after capsulotomy. In all groups, there was a significant increase in the area of capsulotomy between 1wk and 3mo post-laser. Between 3 and 12mo post-laser, only the group with 13 mm CTR showed a significant increase in the area of capsulotomy(P<0.01). ·CONCLUSION: Laser posterior capsulotomy is safe in all three groups. The capsulotomy and ACD become stabilized and have not shown significant changes since 1y postlaser, even with larger CTRs. The maintenance of centrifugal capsular tension can last longer with larger CTRs, and the stability of the capsulotomy site can be reached about 12mo after capsulotomy in pseudophakic eyes with larger CTRs.

AIM: To examine the protective effect of green tea extract (GT) on hepatic fi brosis in vitro and in vivo in dimethylnitrosamine (DMN)-induced ***: HSC-T6, a rat hepatic stellate cell line, was used as an in vitro assay system. Cell proliferation, collagen content, and type 1 collagen expression were examined in activated HSC-T6 cells. Collagen was determined by estimating the hydroxyproline content. In rats with DMN-induced hepatic fi brosis, serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase concentrations, liver hydroxyproline and lipid peroxides were determined. Pathologic changes were examined by hematoxylin & eosin ***: GT administration prevented the development of hepatic fibrosis in the rat model of DMN-induced liver fi brosis. These results were confi rmed both by liver histology and by quantitative measurement of hepatic hydroxyproline content, a marker of liver collagen deposition. Accordingly, inhibition of proliferation, reduced collagen deposition, and type 1 collagen expression were observed in activated HSC-T6 cells following GT treatment. These results imply that GT reduced the proliferation of activated HSC and down regulated the collagen content and expression of collagen type 1, thereby ameliorating hepatic ***: This study demonstrates that greentea administration can effectively improve liver fibrosis caused by DMN, and may be used as a therapeutic option and preventive measure against hepatic f ibrosis.

·AIM:To evaluate the efficacy and stability of haptic sutured in-the-bag intraocular lens(IOL)in eyes with zonular instability.·METHODS:A total 60 eyes of 60 patients were included in this retrospective cohort *** stability in three groups[haptic sutured IOL in the bag,IOL in the bag insertion with haptics oriented toward areas of zonulysis,IOL with capsular tension ring(CTR)in the bag insertion]were compared according to the IOL insertion *** evaluate the IOL stability,the changes of anterior chamber depth(ACD),refraction,contraction of anterior continuous curvilinear capsulotomy(CCC)area,and tilt of IOL were compared.·RESULTS:There was no significant difference in change of ACD(-0.04±0.01 mm in group of haptic sutured IOL,-0.07±0.01 mm in group of CTR insertion)and refraction(0.05±0.05 D in group of haptic sutured IOL,0.37±015 D in group of CTR insertion)between the group of haptic sutured IOL in the bag and CTR insertion *** in comparison of CCC contraction and IOL tilt,CTR insertion group showed less contraction(1.00%±0.52%)and less IOL tilt(2.66°±0.11°)than the group of haptic sutured IOL in the bag(6.32%±1.36%,3.47°±0.11°,respectively).The CTR insertion group showed the least CCC contraction and the least tilt.·CONCLUSION:In eyes with zonular instability,the method of haptic sutured IOL in-the-bag shows comparable stability in ACD and refraction in comparison with IOL with CTR in the bag *** method of IOL only in-thebag insertion shows the largest contraction of CCC and the largest tilt of IOL.

Simulation of Solid Particle Interactions Including Segregated Lamination by Using MPS Method

A new MPS(Moving Particle Semi-implicit)method is developed to simulate the behaviors and interactions of multiple fine solid particles as a *** fluid particles are affected by viscosity,so solid particles are affected by *** solid particle dynamics for landslides,dumping,and gravity sorting *** can be difficult to simulate using conventional MPS methods,are modeled in this paper using the developed multi-solid-particle MPS method that benefits from drawing comparisons with the corresponding fluid particle *** present MPS results for dumping solid particles are verified against the corresponding DEM(Discrete Element Method)*** shape and angle of repose for solid particles are shown to be highly dependent on the friction coefficient between *** peculiar phenomenon of segregated lamination(gravity sorting)among grains of different densities has been successfully reproduced using the multi-solid-particle MPS *** quality is found to be dependent on the densities and frictional coefficients of the constituent *** behavior of heterogeneous mixtures of multiple solid and liquid particles are also compared and *** newly developed tool offers a window into the physical dynamics of sedimentology that the broader geoscience community might benefit from.

Effector B cells are central contributors to the development of autoimmune disease by activating autoreactive T cells,producing pro-inflammatory cytokines and organizing ectopic lymphoid ***,IL-10-producing regulatory B(Breg)cells have pivotal roles in maintaining immunological tolerance and restraining excessive inflammation in autoinflammatory ***,regulating the equilibrium between antibody-producing effector B cells and Breg cells is critical for the treatment of autoimmune *** this study,we investigated the effect of human palatine tonsil-derived mesenchymal stem cells(T-MSCs)on estradiol(E2)-induced B-cell responses in vivo and in *** of T-MSC into E2-treated mice alleviated B-cell-mediated immune responses and increased the population of IL-10-producing Breg cells.T-MSCs regulated the B-cell populations by producing Epstein–Barr virus(EBV)-induced 3(EBI3),one of the two subunits of IL-35 that is the well-known inducer of Breg *** demonstrate a critical role of EBI3(IL-35)in vitro by depleting EBI3 in T-MSCs and by adding exogenous IL-35 to the culture *** together,our data suggest that IL-35-secreting MSCs may become an attractive therapeutic to treat B-cell-mediated autoimmune diseases via expanding Breg cells.

In optics,the refractive index of a material and its spatial distribution determine the characteristics of light ***,exploring both low-and high-index materials/structures is an important consideration in this *** cavities,which are defined as low-index bases,exhibit a variety of unusual or even unexplored optical characteristics and are used in numerous functionalities including diffraction gratings,localised optical antennas and low-loss *** this report,we discuss the fabrication of hollow cavities of various sizes(O.2-5μm in diameter)that are supported by conformal dielectric/metal shells,as well as their specific applications in the ultraviolet(photodetectors),visible(light-emitting diodes,solar cells and metalenses),near-infrared(thermophotovoltaics)and mid-infrared(radiative coolers)*** findings demonstrate that hollow cavities tailored to specific spectra and applications can serve as versatile optical platforms to address the limitations of current optoelectronic ***,hollow cavity embedded structures are highly elastic and can minimise the thermal stress caused by high *** such,future applications will likely include high-temperature devices such as thermophotovoltaics and concentrator photovoltaics.
