Highly selective binding of structurally similar substrates is common for biomolecular recognition,but is often challenging to realize in synthetic ***,we report highly selective binding of methyl viologen over other analogues by an endo-functionalized naphthobox.X-ray single crystal structure and Density Functional Theory(DFT)calculations revealed that the endo-functionalized groups in the cavity of the naphthobox is important for the high binding selectivity through the formation of multiple C-H…N,C-H…π,andπ…πinteractions with methyl viologen.

Depigmenting agents were solvent-extracted and purified by preparative and analytical HPLC from three Chinese plants; Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat（ Xizang Caijuhua）, Rhodiola sachalinensis, and Terminalia chebula Retzius. Four fractions obtained from the ethyl ether layer of C. m. Rama and two fractions from the ethyl acetate layer of Rhodiola salientness show depigmenting effects. At 8 200, the ethyl acetate layers of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat, Rhodiola sachalinensis and the methanol extract of Terminalia chebula Retzius, can inhibit the melanin production of mouse B16 melanoma cells by 92%, 60% and 90%, respectively, whereas 46% inhibition was observed by commercially available depigmenting agents（arbutin）. These results show the potential of these three Chinese plants as a novel resource for depigmenting agents in the cosmetic industry.

This paper considers an optimal sequential inspection schedule for a second-hand product after that the free nonrenewable warranty is expired. The length of warranty is prespecified and during the warranty period, the product is minimally repaired by the dealer when it fails. Following the expiration of the non-renewing warranty, the product is inspected and upgraded sequentially a fixed number of times at the expenses of the *** each inspection, the failure rate of the product is reduced proportionally so that the product is upgraded. The product is assumed to deteriorate as it ages and the replacement of the product occurs when a fixed number of inspections are rendered. In addition,the intervals between two successive inspections are assumed to decrease monotonically. The main objective of this paper is to determine the optimal improvement level to upgrade the product at each inspection so that the expected maintenance cost during the life cycle of the product is minimized from the perspective of the customer. Under the given cost structures, we derive an explicit formula to obtain the expected maintenance cost incurred during the life cycle of the product and discuss the method to find the optimal level of the improvement analytically in case the failure times follow the Weibull distribution. Numerical results are analyzed to observe the impact of relevant parameters on the optimal solution.

Objective: In traditional Chinese medicine, the herbal pair, Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae(RAB) and Eucommiae Cortex(EC), is widely used to treat osteoporosis. Herein, we determined whether this herbal pair can be used to ameliorate glucocorticoid(GC)-induced osteoporosis(GIOP) and find its optimal dosage in ***: The characteristics of the aqueous extract of RAB and EC were separately characterized using high-performance liquid chromatography. Osteoporosis was induced in 5-day post-fertilization zebrafish larvae by exposing them to 10 lmol/L dexamethasone(Dex) for 96 h. Seven combinations of different ratios of RAB and EC were co-administered. Treatment efficacy was determined by calculating zebrafish vertebral area and sum brightness, via alizarin red staining, and by detecting alkaline phosphatase(ALP)activity. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to test the optimal dosage ***: According to the Chinese Pharmacopoeia(2015), b-ecdysone(b-Ecd) is a major bioactive marker in RAB extract, while pinoresinol diglucoside(PDG) is the major marker in EC extract. Both of b-Ecd and PDG content values aligned with the Chinese Pharmacopoeia standards. Treatment with 10 lmol/L Dex reduced zebrafish vertebral area, sum brightness, and ALP activity, but RAB and EC attenuated these effects. Combining 50 mg/m L RAB and 50 mg/m L EC was optimal for preventing GIOP in *** transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to evaluate the m RNA expression of osteogenesis-related genes. A treatment of 10 lmol/L Dex decreased runt-related transcription factor 2(Runx2), osteogenic protein-1(OP-1), bone c-carboxyglutamic acid-containing protein(BGLAP), and bcatenin levels. This effect was counteracted by RAB and EC co-treatment(P < 0.05). Additionally, the effect of using the two herbal extracts together was better than single-herb treatments separately. In this work, we analyzed only the patients of the NSTEMI (non ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction) who arrived at the hospital within 12 h after symptoms started. Using NSTEMI follow-up data within, the characteristics of the clinical data, the risk factor, and the blood tested in the hospital visit were analyzed for MACE (major adverse cardiac events) patients. MACE includes cardiac death, MI (myocardial infarction), Re-PCI, and CABG (coronary artery bypass graft). As a result, from the NSTEMI patients which can be followed up for over 12 m, NT-ProBNP (p=0.014) and age (p=0.045) are found to be the independent risk factors related to MACE. Accordingly, they can be useful for the diagnosis and prognosis for NSTEMI patients as a biomarker.
