Diabetes mellitus, an endocrine disorder, has a wider reach among most of the world population. The incidence of diabetes is high not only among adults but wider-age groups are also becoming susceptible to this disease because of modified food habits and lifestyle changes that are alien to the physiological system. The control of blood glucose level would be the prime focus of all the therapeutic targets, which is achieved through drugs, modified lifestyle, and paleo-based diets. To find a solution to these problems, earlier humans have revolutionized the science with the discovery of insulin from the porcine pancreatic crude extract. Later, developments have been made with artificial recombinant insulin and even insulin analogs that would mimic the physiological basal insulin in controlling the blood sugar levels. Various factors such as cost and logistics for quality delivery to the end-user at various corners of the world have impeded the reach of the original product. Hence, biosimilar insulins that are original insulin analogs were designed to execute similar physiological functions. In the current situation, the use of biosimilars has been approved in various clinical conditions that are very promising in its functions. In the present review, the various developmental phases of biosimilar preparations and the regulations enforced ensuring a quality product in the market through the Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency have been discussed.

Prediction modelling in the early detection of neonatal sepsis

Background Prediction modelling can greatly assist the health-care professionals in the management of diseases,thus sparking interest in neonatal sepsis *** main objective of the study was to provide a complete picture of performance of prediction models for early detection of neonatal *** PubMed,Scopus,CINAHL databases were searched and articles which used various prediction modelling measures for the early detection of neonatal sepsis were *** extraction was carried out based on Critical Appraisal and Data Extraction for Systematic Reviews of Prediction Modelling Studies *** data consisted of objective,study design,patient characteristics,type of statistical model,predictors,outcome,sample size and *** model Risk of Bias Assessment Tool was applied to gauge the risk of bias of the *** An aggregate of ten studies were included in the review among which eight studies had applied logistic regression to build a prediction model,while the remaining two had applied artificial *** predictors like neonatal fever,birth weight,foetal morbidity and gender,cervicovaginitis and maternal age were identified for the early detection of neonatal ***,birth weight,endotracheal intubation,thyroid hypofunction and umbilical venous catheter were promising factors for predicting late-onset sepsis;while gestational age,intrapartum temperature and antibiotics treatment were utilised as budding prognosticators for early-onset sepsis *** Prediction modelling approaches were able to recognise promising maternal,neonatal and laboratory predictors in the rapid detection of early and late neonatal sepsis and thus,can be considered as a novel way for clinician decisionmaking towards the disease diagnosis if not used alone,in the years to come.

Test re-test reliability of virtual acoustic space identification (VASI) test in young adults with normal hearing

Background:Recent developments in virtual acoustic technology has levered promising applications in the field of auditory sciences,especially in spatial *** conventional auditory spatial assessment using loudspeakers,interaural differences and/or questionnaires are limited by the availability and cost of instruments,the use of virtual acoustic space identification(VASI)test has widespread applications in spatial test battery as it overcomes these ***:The lack of test-retest reliability data of VASI test narrows its direct application in auditory spatial assessment,which is explored in the present ***:Data from 75 normal-hearing young adults(mean age:25.11 y±4.65 SD)was collected in three sessions:baseline,within 15 min of baseline(intra-session),and one week after baseline session(inter-session).Test-retest reliability was assessed using the intra-class correlation coefficient(ICC),coefficient of variation(CV),and cluster ***:The results showed excellent reliability for both accuracy and reaction time measures of VASI,with ICC values of 0.93 and 0.87,*** CV values for overall VASI accuracy and reaction time 9.66% and 11.88%,*** was also complemented by the cluster plot analyses,which showed 93.33% and 96.00% of temporal stability in the accuracy and reaction time measures,indicative of high test-retest reliability of VASI test in auditory spatial ***:The high temporal stability(test-retest reliability)of VASI test validates its application in spatial hearing test battery.

Optimization of friction and wear behaviour of Al-Si_3N_4 nano composite and Al-Gr-Si_3N_4 hybrid composite under dry sliding conditions

The tribological behaviour of gravity die stir cast LM6alloy with graphite(Gr)and silicon nitride nanoparticles was ***?Gr?Si3N4hybrid composite,Al?Si3N4nanocomposite and Al?Gr nanocomposites were separately fabricated to investigate their frictional and wear characteristics under dry sliding *** was used to ensure the uniform presence of nano Si3N4and graphite in the cast.L9orthogonal array method was chosen to conduct the experiments to study the effect of different applied loads(20,30and40N)and sliding distances(1,2and3km).The results showed that the respective wear rate and coefficient of friction(COF)decreased by25%and15%for hybrid composite when compared with those of Al?Si3N4nanocomposite whereas the wear rate and COF of Al?Gr was found to be very *** micro Vickers hardness of the hybrid composite was14%more than that of the simple nanocomposite and there was not much notable variation for Al?Gr and Al?Si3N4nanocomposite *** electron microscope was used to analyze the worn surface and subsurface,from which it was noted that the predominant wear mechanisms observed were abrasive for nanocomposite and both abrasive and adhesive mechanism for hybrid *** of variance(ANOVA)and F-test were used to check the validity model and to determine the significant parameters affecting the wear rates.

Studies on the seasonal variations in the proximate composition of ascidians from the Palk Bay,Southeast coast of India

Larvicidal and repellent potential of Moringa oleifera against malarial vector,Anopheles stephensi Liston(Insecta:Diptera:Culicidae)

Objective:To evaluate the larvicidal and pupicidal potential of the methanolic extracts from Moringa oleifera(***) plant seeds against malarial vector Anopheles stephensi(***) mosquitoes at different concentrations(20,40,60,80 and 100 ppm).Methods:*** was collected from the area of around Bharathiar University,*** dried plant materials were powdered by an electrical *** each sample,100 g of the plant material were extracted with 300 mL of methanol for 8 h in a Soxhlet *** extracts were evaporated to dryness in rotary vacuum evaporator to yield 122 mg and 110 mg of dark greenish material(residue) from Arcang amara and Ocimum basilicum,*** gram of the each plant residue was dissolved separately in 100 mL of acetone(stock solution) from which different concentrations, i.e.,20,40,60,80 and 100 ppm were ***:Larvicidal activity of *** exhibited in the first to fourth instar larvae of the ***,and the LC_(50) and LC_(90) values were 57.79 ppm and 125.93 ppm for the first instar,63.90 ppm and 133.07 ppm for the second inslar,72.45 ppm and 139.82 ppm for the third instar,78.93 ppm and 143.20 ppm for the fourth instar,respectively. During the pupal stage the methanolic extract of *** showed that the LC_(50),and LC_(90) values were 67.77 ppm and 141.00 ppm,***:The present study indicates that the phytochemicals derived from *** seeds extracts are effective mosquito vector control agents and the plant extracts may be used for further integrated pest management programs.

Process Tolerant and Power Efficient SRAM Cell for Internet of Things Applications

The use of Internet of Things(IoT)applications become dominant in many *** on-chip data processing and computations are also increasing *** battery enabled and low leakage memory system at subthreshold regime is a critical requirement for these IoT *** cache memory designed on Static Random-Access Memory(SRAM)cell with features such as low power,high speed,and process tolerance are highly important for the IoT memory ***,a process tolerant SRAM cell with low power,improved delay and better stability is presented in this research *** proposed cell comprises 11 transistors designed with symmetric approach for write operations and single ended circuit for read operations that exhibits an average dynamic power saving of 43.55%and 47.75%for write and 35.59%and 36.56%for read operations compared to 6 T and 8 T SRAM *** cell shows an improved write delay of 26.46%and 37.16%over 6 T and 8T and read delay is lowered by 50.64%and 72.90%against 6 T and 10 T *** symmetric design used in core latch to improve the write noise margin(WNM)by 17.78%and 6.67%whereas the single ended separate read circuit improves the Read Static Noise Margin(RSNM)by 1.88x and 0.33x compared to 6 T and 8T *** read power delay product and write power delay product are lower by 1.94x,1.39x and 0.17x,2.02x than 6 T and 8 T cells *** lower variability from 5000 samples validates the robustness of the proposed *** simulations are carried out in Cadence virtuoso simulator tool with Generic Process Design Kit(GPDK)45 nm technology file in this work.
