This paper presents finite element modeling （FEM） to simulate the present-day stress field and crustal deformation using NE-SW structural section in the central Seismic Gap region of the Garhwal Himalaya. Our study deals with the effect of geometrical characteristics and rock layer parameters on the upper crust. Modeling results show that two types of tectonic regimes developed in the central Seismic Gap region： the geotectonics of the northern part has been controlled by regional compression, whereas southern part is characterized by regional extension. Correspondingly, thrust faults are induced in the northern part and normal faults are extensively developed in the southern front. Those evidences noticeably indicate that the compressive tectonic environment of the Himalaya becomes change into the extensional tectonic regime in its front. The computed shear stress accumulation along the northern fiat of Main Himalayan Thrust （MHT） implies that considerable amount of interseismic stress is building up along the MHT system in the Himalaya, which ultimately release through the possible future great Himalayan earthquake （M 〉 8）. The comparison between our modeled stress field, faulting pattern and horizontal shortening rate with the distribution of the microseismic events, focal mechanism solutions, active faulting and GPS data in the central Seismic Gap region shows good agreement.

A transformer is an essential but expensive power delivery equipment for a distribution *** many distribution utilities worldwide,a sizable percentage of transformers are near the end of their designed *** the same time,distribution utilities are adopting smart inverter-based distributed solar photovoltaic(SPV)systems to maximize renewable *** central objective of this paper is to propose a methodology to quantify the effect of smart inverter-based distributed SPV systems on the aging of distribution *** proposed method is first tested on a modified IEEE-123 node distribution *** that,the procedure is applied to a practical distribution system,i.e.,the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT)Roorkee campus,*** transformer aging models,alongside advanced control functionalities of grid-tied smart inverter-based SPV systems,are implemented in *** open-source simulation tool(OpenDSS)is used to model distribution *** analyze effectiveness of various inverter functionalities,time-series simulations are performed using exponential load models,considering daily load curves from multiple seasons,load types,current harmonics,*** show replacing a traditional inverter with a smart inverter-based SPV system can enable local reactive power generation and may extend the life of a distribution *** results demonstrate,simply by incorporating smart inverter-based SPV systems,transformer aging is reduced by 15%to 22%in comparison to SPV systems operating with traditional inverters.

AIM To compare two tests for exocrine pancreatic function(EPF) for use in M-ANNHEIM staging for pancreatitis. METHODS One hundred and ninety four consecutive patients with acute pancreatitis(AP; n = 13), recurrent acute pancreatitis(RAP; n = 65) and chronic pancreatitis(CP; n = 116) were enrolled. EPF was assessed by faecal elastase-1(FE-1) estimation and stool fat excretion by the acid steatocrit method. Patients were classified as per M-ANNHEIM stages separately based on the results of the two tests for comparison. Independent Student's t-test, χ~2 test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test and Mc Nemar's test were used as appropriate. RESULTS Sixty-one(52.5%) patients with CP had steatorrhoea when assessed by the acid steatocrit method; 79 (68.1%) with CP had exocrine insufficiency by the FE-1 test(χ~2 test, P < 0.001). The results of acid steatocrit and FE-1 showed a significant negative correlation(Spearman's rho =-0.376, P < 0.001). A statistically significant difference was seen between the M-ANNHEIM stages as classified separately by acid steatocrit and the FE-1. Thirteen(6.7%), 87(44.8%), 89(45.8%) and 5(2.5%) patients were placed in M-ANNHEIM stages 0,?Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ respectively, with the use of acid steatocrit as against 13(6.7%), 85(43.8%), 75(38.6%), and 21(10.8%) respectively by FE-1 in stages 0,?Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ thereby altering the stage in 28(14.4%) patients(P < 0.001, Mc Nemar's test). CONCLUSION FE-1 estimation performed better than the acid steatocrit test for use in the staging of pancreatitis by the M-ANNHEIM classification since it diagnosed a higher proportion of patients with exocrine insufficiency.

Objective: To report the i ndings of inl uenza surveillance programme from Union territory of Puducherry and to document the clinical and epidemiological data of inl uenza viruses over a i ve year period from 2009-2013. Methods: Respiratory samples were collected from patients with influenza-like illness from 2009-2013 as part of routine diagnostic and surveillance activity. Detection of pandemic inl uenza A(H1N1) 2009, inl uenza A(H3N2) and inl uenza B was done using Real-time PCR. Results: Of the total 2 247 samples collected from patients with inl uenza-like illness during the study period 287(12.7%) and 92(4.0%) were positive for inl uenza A(H1N1) 2009 and inl uenza A(H3N2) respectively. A subset of 557 of these samples were also tested for inl uenza B and 24(4.3%) were positive. Signii cantly higher positivity rate for both viruses was observed in adults when compared with children. The peak positivity of influenza A(H1N1) 2009 was observed in 2009 followed by 2012, while that of inl uenza A(H3N2) was more uniformly distributed with the exception of 2012. Overall mortality rate due to influenza A(H1N1) 2009 was 7.6% while it was 1% for influenza A(H3N2). Each year influenza-like illness and influenza virus activity coincided with period of high rainfall and low temperature except in the first half of 2012. Conclusions: As the sole referral laboratory in this region, the data provides a comprehensive picture of inl uenza activity. This information will be useful in future planning of the vaccine schedule and inl uenza pandemic preparedness.

Understanding the impacts of climate change in agriculture is important to ensure optimal and continuous crop *** agricultural sector plays a significant role in the economy of Upper Midwestern states in the USA,especially that of North Dakota(ND).Spring wheat contributes most of the wheat production in ND,which is a major producer of wheat in the *** study focuses on assessing possible impacts of three climate variables on spring wheat yield in ND by building a regression ***-five years of field data were collected and the trend of average minimum temperature along with average maximum temperature,average precipitation,and spring wheat yield was analyzed using Mann-Kendall *** study area was divided into 9 divisions based on physical *** minimum temperature plays an important role in the region as it impacts the physiological development of the *** trend was noticed for 6 divisions for average minimum temperature and average precipitation during growing *** and Southeast division showed the strongest increasing trend for average minimum temperature and average precipitation,***-central division had the most decreasing trend for average maximum temperature.A significant relationship was established between spring wheat yield and climatic parameters as the p-value is lower than 0.05 level which rejects the null *** regression model was tested for forecasting *** percentage deviation of error for the model is approximately±30%in most of the years.

AIM To assess the outcomes of drug therapy(DT)followed by pancreatic endotherapy for continuing painful episodes in recurrent acute *** DT comprised of pancreatic enzymes and antioxidants failing which,endotherapy(ET;pancreatic sphincterotomy and stent placement)was *** frequency of pain,its visual analogue score(VAS),quality of life(Qo L),serum C peptide and faecal elastase were compared between baseline and after 1 year of follow up in all patients and in the two subgroups on DT and *** was defined as at least 50%reduction in the severity of pain to below a score of *** Of the thirty nine patients analysed,21(53.9%)responded to DT and 18(46.1%)underwent *** VAS for pain(7.0±2.0 vs 1.3±2.5,P<0.001)and the number of days with pain per month decreased[1.0(1.0,2.0)vs 1.0(0.0,1.0),P<0.001],and the Qo L scores[55.0(44.0,66.0)vs 38.0(32.00,51.00),P<0.01]improved significantly during follow *** significant improvements were seen in patients in the subgroups of DT and ET except for Qo L in *** serum C-peptide(P=0.001)and FE(P<0.001)levels improved significantly in the entire group and in the two subgroups of patients except for the C peptide levels in patients on *** A standardised protocol of DT,followed by ET decreased the intensity and frequency of pain in recurrent acute pancreatitis,enhanced Qo L and improved pancreatic function.

India is currently producing crude oil from matured fields because of insufficient discoveries of new ***,in order to control the energy crisis in India,enhanced oil recovery(EOR)techniques are required to reduce the import of crude from the OPEC(Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries).This review mentions chemical EOR techniques(polymers,surfactants,alkali,nanoparticles,and combined alkali-surfactant-polymer flooding)and operations in *** EOR methods are one of the most efficient methods for oil *** efficiency is enhanced by interfacial tension(IFT)reduction using surfactants and alkali,and mobility control of injected water is done by adding a polymer to increase the volumetric sweep *** paper also reviews the current trend of chemical EOR,prospects of chemical EOR in Indian oilfields,the development of chemical EOR in India with their challenges raising with economics,and screening criteria for chemical EOR implementation on the field ***,the review gives a brief idea about chemical EOR implementation in Indian oilfields in future prospects to increase the additional oil recovery from existing depleted fields to reduce the import of crude *** outcome of this review depicts all chemical EOR operations and recovery rates both at the laboratory scale and field scale around the *** additional recovery rates are compared from various chemical EOR methods like conventional chemical flooding methods and conventional chemicals combined with nanoparticles on a laboratory *** development of chemical EOR in the past few decades and the EOR policy given by the government of India has been mentioned in this *** analysis provides an idea about enhanced recovery screening and implementation of chemical EOR methods in existing fields will significantly reduce the energy crisis in India.

We developed a physical model to fundamentally understand the conductive filament(CF)formation and growth behavior in the switching layer during electroforming process in the metal-oxide-based resistive random-access memories(RRAM).The effects of the electrode and oxide layer properties on the CF morphology evolution,current-voltage characteristic,local temperature,and electrical potential distribution have been systematically *** is found that choosing active electrodes with lower oxygen vacancy formation energy and oxides with small Lorenz number(ratio of thermal and electrical conductivity)enables CF formation at a smaller electroforming voltage and creates a CF with more homogeneous *** work advances our understanding of the kinetic behaviors of the CF formation and growth during the electroforming process and could potentially guide the oxide and electrode materials selection to realize a more stable and functional RRAM.

Electrodialytic （ED） recovery of citric acid （CA） in the presence/absence of strong electrolytes （NaCl, CaCl2 and Feel3） was separately analyzed under different process conditions. Recovery effectiveness was quantitatively estimated from current efficiency values. Efficiency attained optimum value with both flow rate and potential applied, while a monotonic rise was noted with temperature which got lowered beyond 0.1 tool. L 1 feed concentration. 40% drop in efficiency was recorded in the presence of strong electrolytes （Noel, CaCl2 and Feel3） in feed relative to their presence in concentrate. Severe transport hindrance and efficiency loss were attributed to adsorption and allied physicochemical changes occurred with anion/cation exchange membranes （AEM/CEM） and these were confirmed through contact angle/Chronopotentiometry/AFM/EDX. Sluggish potential rise （Galvanostatic mode） in Chronopotentiometric analysis indicated diffusion limiting transport of organic acids influenced AEM resistance. XRD and EDX analysis indicated the presence of salt hydrates/ions （Ca2＋/Fe3＋） over CEM justifying the resistance buildup due to adsorption of multivalent metal ion（s） and salts.
