Health and safety perspectives of graphene in wearables and hybrid materials

The growing demand for smart wearables, coupled with the omnipresence of graphene due to its array of outstanding thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties, have driven the industry-led initiatives to develop lightweight, smart, and robust graphene-based wearable technologies. The substantial research and the increase in technology readiness levels (TRLs) of graphene-based technologies have led to the adoption of graphene in many industries. Graphene-based wearables are one such technology that involves closer interaction of graphene by the end-user. Despite this, understanding the toxicological risks associated with using graphene-based wearables is still in the fundamental stage. Herein, graphene-based wearables and industrial-scale fabrication techniques for the development of graphene-based wearables are reviewed. The main goal of the review is to initially evaluate the likelihood of user exposure to graphene from the wearable device and the potential health effects. The subsequent health risks based on graphene's physicochemical characteristics are also discussed. A framework to elucidate the risk is presented in terms of crucial exposure routes, possible graphene interactions, recent exposure assessments, detection removal techniques from the human body, and risk management protocols. It is hoped that this review may aid towards establishing a reasonable practice concerning the safe integration of graphene materials into wearables and facilitate their commercialization.

In the given research,the molecular structures of two new compounds,4-((E)-3-(dimethylamino)styryl)-6-((E)-4-(dimethylamino)styryl)pyrimidine-2-amine(PM-1)and N-(4-((E)-3-(dimethylamino)styryl)-6-((E)-4-(dimethylamino)styryl)pyrimidine-2-yl)-4,6-dichloro 1,3,5-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine(PM-2),have been studied with the use of density functional theory(DFT/B3LYP/MidiX)in dimethylformamide(DMF)for the first *** electronic spectra of the new compounds in a DMF solvent were carried out by temporally dependent density functional theory(TD-DFT)*** computed absorption spectral data of the title compounds are in good agreement with the experimental data,thus allowing an assignment of the UV/Vis *** equilibrium geometry,the HOMO and LUMO molecular orbitals,excitation energies,oscillator strengths and Natural Bond Orbital(NBO)analysis for the molecules have also been calculated and ***-IR spectra of the title molecules are recorded and *** electron location function(ELF),localized orbital locator(LOL)and quantum theory of atoms in molecules(QTAIM)analyses were also carried *** the basis of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)and synthesized molecules,polarizer for UV/Vis region of the spectrum has been developed.

Molecular Assessment and Taxonomic Status of the Rapid Racerunner (Eremias velox complex) with Particular Attention to the Populations in Northwestern China

Using density functional calculations to elucidate atomic ordering of Pd-Rh nanoparticles at sizes relevant for catalytic applications

Pd-Rh nanoparticles are known to easily undergo surface restructuring in reactive environment. This study quantifies, with the help of density functional(DFT) calculations and a novel topological approach, atomic ordering and surface segregation effects in Pd-Rh particles with compositions 1:3, 1:1 and 3:1 containing up to 201 atoms(ca. 1.7 nm). The obtained data are used to reliably optimise energetically preferred atomic orderings in inaccessible by DFT Pd-Rh particles containing thousands of atoms and exhibiting sizes exceeding 5 nm, which are typical for catalytic metal particles. It is outlined, how segregation effects on the surface arrangement of Pd-Rh nanoalloy catalysts induced by adsorbates can be evaluated in a simple way within the present modelling setup.

Atmospheric and Coupled Model Intercomparison in Terms of Amplitude—Phase Characteristics of Surface Air Temperature Annual Cycle

A model intercomparison in terms of surface air temperature annual cycle amplitude-phase characteristics (SAT AC APC) is performed. The models included in the intercomparison belong to two groups: five atmospheric models with prescribed sea surface temperature and sea ice cover and four coupled models forced by the atmospheric abundances of anthropogenic constituents (in total six coupled model simulations). Over land, the models, simulating higher than observed time averaged SAT, also tend to simulate smaller than observed amplitude of its annual and semiannual harmonics and (outside the Tropics) later-than-observed spring and autumn moments. The models with larger (smaller) time averaged amplitudes of annual and semiannual harmonics also tend to simulate larger (smaller) interannual standard deviations. Over the oceans, the coupled models with larger interannual standard deviations of annual mean SAT tend to simulate larger interannual standard deviations of both annual and semiannual SAT harmonics amplitudes. Most model errors are located in the belts 60°–70°N and 60°–70°S and over Antarctica. These errors are larger for those coupled models which do not employ dynamical modules for sea ice. No systematic differences are found in the simulated time averaged fields of the surface air temperature annual cycle characteristics for atmospheric models on one hand and for the coupled models on the other. But the coupled models generally simulate interannual variability of SAT AC APC better than the atmospheric models (which tend to underestimate it). For the coupled models, the results are not very sensitive to the choice of the particular scenario of anthropogenic forcing. There is a strong linear positive relationship between the model simulated time averaged semiannual SAT harmonics amplitude and interannual standard deviation of annual mean SAT. On the Total Dynamic Response of Soil-Structure Interaction System in Time Domain Using Elastodynamic Infinite Elements with Scaling Modified Bessel Shape Functions

This paper is devoted to a new approach—the dynamic response of Soil-Structure System (SSS), the far field of which is discretized by decay or mapped elastodynamic infinite elements, based on scaling modified Bessel shape functions are to be calculated. These elements are appropriate for Soil-Structure Interaction problems, solved in time or frequency domain and can be treated as a new form of the recently proposed elastodynamic infinite elements with united shape functions (EIEUSF) infinite elements. Here the time domain form of the equations of motion is demonstrated and used in the numerical example. In the paper only the formulation of 2D horizontal type infinite elements (HIE) is used, but by similar techniques 2D vertical (VIE) and 2D corner (CIE) infinite elements can also be added. Continuity along the artificial boundary (the line between finite and infinite elements) is discussed as well and the application of the proposed elastodynamical infinite elements in the Finite element method is explained in brief. A numerical example shows the computational efficiency and accuracy of the proposed infinite elements, based on scaling Bessel shape functions.

Mg_(3)Bi_(2-x)Sb_(x)(0≤x≤2)have gained significant attention due to their potential in thermoelectric(TE)***,there has been much debating regarding their structural properties and phase diagram as a function of pressure,which is crucial for understanding of their TE ***,we investigate a unified phase diagram of Mg_(3)(Bi,Sb)_(2) materials up to 40 GPa at room temperature using high-pressure X-ray *** high-pressure phases with the structural transition succession of P3m1→C2/m→P21/n are observed,which is valid for all Mg_(3)Bi_(2-x)Sb_(x)(0≤x≤2)*** further explore the low-pressure phase P3m1 and report that alloying does not change the quasi-isotropic compression of the unit lattice parameters nor has effect on the anisotropic bond compressibility,as recently reported for the *** study presents a comprehensive picture of Mg_(3)Bi_(2–x)Sb_(x) as a function of pressure and chemical composition providing a solid foundation for the future experimental and theoretical studies searching for the most efficient TE compound in Mg_(3)(Bi,Sb)_(2).
