Androgen-dependent male sexual traits （STs） as well as immunocompetence are theoreticallyassumed to be key indicators of a male＇s quality for the mate-choosing female. We studied matechoice by sexually motivated （SM） females of Campbell＇s dwarf hamsters. Females chose between2 tethered male siblings that differed in expression of STs. Males were unrelated to the female andable to contact and copulate with her. In both males, we measured sex-related morphology ofbody mass, mid-ventral specific skin gland, ano-genital distance, and external testicular *** also estimated levels of blood testosterone and cortisol, specific T- and B-cell immune re-sponses to antigens, as well as aggressive and sexual dominance in sibling males through add-itional encounter experiments with another SM female （male sibs could freely compete for thefemale）. We found that SM females chose a partner among 2 male sibs and spent over 80% of theirtime on average with the preferred male compared with the non-preferred one. Her choice was notassociated with the first visit of the chosen male, with a higher expression of sex-related traits,higher levels of blood testosterone, or with aggressive dominance. The choice was not associatedwith the intensity of T-cell immune response to phitohemagglutinin （PHA）. Instead there was a ten-dency for a negative relationship with the expression of STs and B-cell response to the antigenchallenge. The only character that unambiguously influenced female choice was the non-aggressive male to female grooming during sexual contact. There was no difference in breedingsuccess between preferred and non-preferred males paired with virgin females.

Atomic Force Microscope （AFM） is a relatively new technique for investigation of construction materials. In this study AFM was used to investigate the interaction of asphalt binder with fly ash. Fly ash is a coal combustion byproduct of electric power utilities having pozzolanic properties and commonly used in Portland cement concrete. In this study, an investigation was made by using different types of fly ash with two types of asphalt binders such as PG 58-28 and PG 64-28. Asphalt microstructure is divided into four subgroups such as Saturates, Aromatics, Resins and Asphaltenes （SARA）. These four phases can be distinguished by the atomic force microscope. The interaction of these phases affected by introducing fly-ash was investigated and correlation with rheological properties was observed.

This paper is devoted to a new approach—the dynamic response of Soil-Structure System (SSS), the far field of which is discretized by decay or mapped elastodynamic infinite elements, based on scaling modified Bessel shape functions are to be calculated. These elements are appropriate for Soil-Structure Interaction problems, solved in time or frequency domain and can be treated as a new form of the recently proposed elastodynamic infinite elements with united shape functions (EIEUSF) infinite elements. Here the time domain form of the equations of motion is demonstrated and used in the numerical example. In the paper only the formulation of 2D horizontal type infinite elements (HIE) is used, but by similar techniques 2D vertical (VIE) and 2D corner (CIE) infinite elements can also be added. Continuity along the artificial boundary (the line between finite and infinite elements) is discussed as well and the application of the proposed elastodynamical infinite elements in the Finite element method is explained in brief. A numerical example shows the computational efficiency and accuracy of the proposed infinite elements, based on scaling Bessel shape functions.

Nowadays the answer to the question "what is logic " seems very simple and obvious-"logic is a science," and after that usually one says what is this science about. As for the expressions "logic is an art" or "the art of logic," then they are only metaphors or some kind of "facon de parler" used in serious scientific discourse. One of my aims here is to trace (on the base of as authentic texts as a commentator literature) the line of development of dichotomy "logic as an art-logic as a science" and to demonstrate that both these feat uses of logic have fundamental historical roots and play very important conceptual role in any theorizing about logic. Despite the fact that (modern) logic is undoubtedly a science, it can be interpreted as an art, moreover, the analysis of logic from this point of view expands, it seems to me, the researching possibilities in the field of the philosophy of logic at least in better understanding what is logic, what creates its unity independently from the historical period of its development, topics, and methods.

In this study, we report on the extraction, characterization, and potential applications of colloidal biochar derived from pyrolyzed wood-an untapped source of carbonaceous particles.A series of characterizations was performed on biochar colloids to unravel their colloidal properties and surface chemistry through which it was found that they have a net negative charge and are stable between pH 3 and ***,our initial toxicity tests showed that biochar colloids themselves are not toxic and they can be used in remediation applications,which led us to investigate(1)their copper sorption,a model inorganic contaminant,in a scenario that biochar colloids are released into the environment and(2)their potential use in organic pollutants adsorption and *** sorption studies showed that biochar colloids have a copper sorption capacity as high as 22 mg g^(−1) in sub-ppm copper *** increased the acute 48 h lethal concentration(LC50)of copper for Daphnia magna by 21 ppb,which is comparable to the previously reported effect by dissolved organic *** and degradation of methylene blue(MB),an often-used proxy for organic contaminants in water,were studied by coupling the biochar colloids to positively charged TiO_(2) nanoparticles and using it as a *** hybrid MB photodegradation efficiency was 21%higher than that of TiO_(2) nanoparticles *** of demethylation is proposed as the main degradation mechanism of MB,as confirmed by liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy(LC/MS),and the positive impact of biochar colloids is ascribed to their abundant adsorption sites,which may facilitate MB adsorption and its photocatalytic degradation.

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive study of the industrially produced ferro-piezoelectric ceramic material based on the PbZrO_(3)-PbTiO_(3)-PbMn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3)O_(3)-PbZn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3)O_(3)+SiO_(2)*** have confirmed that this material refers to ferrorigid materials with high coercive fields,stable dielectric properties in a wide temperature range,practically no Curie temperature hysteresis,as well as low controllability of the dielectric constant and deformation characteristics by constant bias electric *** revealed correlation between dielectric,deformation characteristics and dielectric hysteresis allows us to consider this material as promising for devices operating in power modes:piezotransformers,highly loaded ultrasonic devices,piezoelectric motors,etc.

Experimental approach to investigation of NLCI (Non-local Consciousness Influence) effects is based on sensors of different design, and most of it based on transitional effects in gas-discharge plasma with several quasi-stable states is also presented. Computerized device for detecting NLCI is based on commercially available Gas Discharge Camera (www. ktispb. ru) and allows following time dynamics of several sensors in NLCI conditions. The typical sensors are: water, air, earth, and wood, this instrument was named "The 5th Element". Readings are taken continuously by special software every five or ten seconds in automatic mode. Sensitivity of the device was tested by detecting the influence of total sun eclipse in Siberia in 2008 and by detecting sunrise and sunset. Several experimental modalities have been developed: (1) directed NLCI of a person; (2) directed NLCI of a group of people; and (3) non-directed NLCI of a group of people. Experiments during many years demonstrated efficiency of the developed approach.
