The syntheses of a.libra.y of new chira. a.inophenola.e bidenta.e O,N-type liga.ds HOC6H4(2-R- 4-R′)CH2N(Me)CH(Me)C6H5 [R = R′ = But, 1;R = R′ = Pent, 2;R = But, R′ = Me, 3;R = Me, R′ = But, 4;R = R′ = Me, 5] a.d tridenta.e O,N,O-type liga.ds HOC6H4(2,4-But)CH = NCH(R′′)C6H5 [R′′ = Me, 6;R′′ = CH2OMe, 7] a.e reported. These liga.ds were cha.a.terized by elementa. a.a.ysis, nuclea. ma.netic resona.ce spectroscopy (1H & 13C), a.d single crysta. X-ra. diffra.tion. These liga.ds serve a. chira. a.xilia.ies for inorga.ic chemists to design chira. meta.-ba.ed complexes for a.ymmetric ca.a.ysis a.d stereoselective polymeriza.ion rea.tions. Three new heteroleptic zinc complexes ba.ed on these liga.ds ha.e been synthesized in modera.e yields via.a.liga.d-excha.ge tra.sa.ina.ion rea.tion between homoleptic [Zn(N(SiMe3)2)2] a.d one equiva.ent of corresponding liga.ds to a.ford [l3ZnN- (SiMe3)2] (3a., [l4ZnN(SiMe3)2] (4a., a.d [l7ZnN(SiMe3)2] (7a.. Solvent-free polymeriza.ion of ra.la.tide a. 130°C using these zinc compounds yielded a.a.tic polyla.tides with Mw 10,000 g/mol a.d na.row polydispersity of 1.3.

ROP trea.ment. Method: Retrospective cha.t review of 19 eyes from 16 pa.ients who ha. ROP trea.ment a.d subsequent ca.a.a.t surgery between a.gust, 2002 a.d Ma.ch, 2015. Results: Eighteen of 19 eyes received la.er trea.ment for ROP;1 eye received intra.itrea. beva.izuma.. 5 eyes received lens-spa.ing pa.s pla.a.vitrectomy (lSPPV) in a.dition to la.er. a.era.e follow up wa. 10.1 ± 5.5 yea.s. a.era.e visua. a.uity improved from 20/324 prior to a.d 20/110 a.ter ca.a.a.t surgery (p = 0.06). 13/19 (68%) of the eyes received la.er only a.d developed ca.a.a.ts a. a.era.e of 6.2 ± 5.6 yea.s a.ter la.er trea.ment. 5/19 (26%) eyes developed ca.a.a.ts a. a.era.e of 6.4 ± 4.2 yea.s a.ter lSPPV a.d la.er. In one eye, a.ca.a.a.t developed a.ter a.beva.izuma. injection 2.9 yea.s a.ter the injection. Visua. a.is opa.ifica.ion (Va.) developed in 2/5 (40%) eyes a.ter Ce/PCIOl/PPC-a.tvx, 8/10 eyes (80%) a.ter CE/IOl, a.d in 0/4 eyes a.ter CE/PPC-a.tVx. Ocula. comorbidities included stra.ismus, nysta.mus, a.blyopia. optic a.rophy, cornea. ba.d kera.opa.hy, a.d phthisis bulbi. Conclusion: Ca.a.a.t surgery in pa.ients who ha.e a.history of ROP ca. be complica.ed by a.a.omica. cha.ges from prema.urity a.d prior vitreoretina. surgeries. Vision improvement is limited by other ocula. comorbidities.

The a.m of the current study wa. to identify a.socia.ions between pituita.y lesions, body condition scores, a.d mesenteric lipoma. in horses with insulin resista.ce. Necropsy exa.ina.ions were performed following eutha.a.ia.in 30 a.ult horses designa.ed a. insulin resista.t (n = 11) or insulin sensitive (n = 19). Insulin sensitivity wa. determined using the insulin-modified frequently sa.pled intra.enous glucose tolera.ce test a.d resting insulin concentra.ions. a. necropsy, mesenteric lipoma. were mea.ured. The pituita.y a.d a.rena. gla.ds, pa.crea., a.d liver were eva.ua.ed histologica.ly;pituita.y gla.ds were scored ba.ed on published criteria. Insulin-resista.t horses ha. significa.tly higher pituita.y scores (p = 0.0035) a.d body condition scores (p = 0.0001), even when a.justing for a.e, a.d a.grea.er frequency of mesenteric lipoma. (p = 0.014) a.d grea.er lipoma.a.ea.(p = 0.0332) tha. insulin-sensitive horses. Rega.dless of insulin sta.us, horses with pituita.y scores ≥3 (diffuse hyperpla.ia.n = 25) ha. higher body condition scores (p = 0.0313) a.d a.grea.er frequency of mesenteric lipoma. (p a. those with lower pituita.y scores. High body condition score wa. not correla.ed to a. increa.ed frequency of mesenteric lipoma.. Detection of higher pituita.y scores in insulin-resista.t horses suggested a. a.socia.ion between insulin resista.ce a.d pituita.y morphology. Horses in the insulin-resista.t group a.d those with high pituita.y scores ha. higher body condition scores a.d a.grea.er frequency of mesenteric lipoma..
