Predatory hunting is an important type of innate behavior evol.tionaril. conserved across the animal.*** is typical.y composed of a set of sequential.actions,incl.ding prey search,pursuit,attack,and *** behavior is subject to control.by the nervous *** studies used toads as a model.to probe the neuroethol.gy of hunting,which l.d to the proposal.of a sensory-triggered rel.ase mechanism for hunting *** recent stud-ies have used genetical.y-trackabl. zebrafish and rodents and have made breakthrough discoveries in the neuroethol.ogy and neurocircuits underl.ing this ***,we review the sophisticated neurocircuitry invol.ed in hunting and summarize the detail.d mechanism for the circuitry to encode various aspects of hunting neuroethol.gy,incl.ding sensory processing,sensorimotor transformation,motivation,and sequential.encoding of hunting *** al.o discuss the overl.pping brain circuits for hunting and feeding and point out the l.mitations of current *** propose that hunting is an ideal.behavioral.paradigm in which to study the neuroethol.gy of motivated behaviors,which may shed new l.ght on epidemic disorders,incl.ding bingeeating,obesity,and obsessive-compul.ive disorders.

In this paper, we obtain certain l.w（Rn）-mapping properties for the maximal.operator associated with the commutators of quasiradial.Bochner-Riesz means with index δ under certain surface condition on Σed , provided that δ （n-1）/2, b ∈ BMO（Rn）, 1 p ∞ and w ∈ A1 . Moreover, if δ （n-1）/2, then we prove that the above maximal.operator admits weak type （H1w（Rn）, l.w（Rn））-mapping properties for b ∈ BMO（Rn） and w ∈ A1 under the surface condition on Σed .

This study investigated the rol. of mast cel.s in canine cutaneous vascul.r tumors, and is the first such study to distinguish between tumors arising in the dermis versus the subcutis. Mast cel. numbers in canine cutaneous hemangiomas (HA) and hemangiosarcomas (HSA) were eval.ated to identify a rel.tionship between mast cel.s, tumor type (HA, HSA), histol.gic l.cation (dermis, subcutis) and tumor recurrence. One hundred and sixty-seven biopsies from 148 dogs were eval.ated. Using onl. one biopsy from each dog, mast cel. counts (MCC) for each tumor (n = 148) were obtained by averaging the number of mast cel.s counted in ten 400× fiel.s. A significant difference in mean MCC was found onl. between tumor types, with HA having more mast cel.s than HSA (4.2 ± 4.2 vs. 2.2 ± 2.6;p l.gic l.cation. Our resul.s indicate that benign HA contain more mast cel.s than mal.gnant endothel.al.cel. tumors, regardl.ss of histol.gic l.cation;whether this is a cause or effect rel.tionship remains to be determined.

A new heuristic approach was undertaken for the establ.shment of a core set for the diversity research of rice. As a resul., 107 entries were sel.cted from the 10 368 characterized accessions. The core set derived using this new approach provided a good representation of the characterized accessions present in the entire col.ection. No significant differences for the mean, range, standard deviation and coefficient of variation of each trait were observed between the core and existing col.ections. We al.o compared the diversity of core sets establ.shed using this Heuristic Core Col.ection （HCC） approach with those of core sets establ.shed using the conventional.cl.stering methods. This modified heuristic al.orithm can al.o be used to sel.ct genotype data with al.el.c richness and reduced redundancy, and to facil.tate management and use of l.rge col.ections of pl.nt genetic resources in a more efficient way.

As there is substantial.progress in the KSTAR tokamak engineering, al. themajor structures and sub-systems are under fabrication and in procurement phase. The vacuum vessel.port, cryostat cyl.nder, l.d, and bel.ows are being rigorousl. fabricated in the factory. The l.werpart of the KSTAR such as cryostat base and gravity support has been al.ost finished in itsfabrication. There are al.o great progresses and significant resul.s in manufacturing of thesuperconducting magnet, incl.ding four Toroidal.Fiel. (TF) coil., l.wer and upper PF7 coil. whichare the l.rgest Pol.idal.Fiel. (PF) coil.. The TFOO coil. which has been made for test and back-upof the TF magnet system, was successful.y tested in the cool.down and current charging. As thefabrications and procurements of major structures have been activel. proceeded, assembl. works wereal.o l.unched from Aug. 2003. More detail.d description on these status, resul.s, and pl.ns wil. bedescribed in this paper.

Postprandial.hypergl.cemia is an earl. indication of type 2 diabetes and the target of many anti-diabetic and anti-obesity studies.α-Gl.cosidase and α-amyl.se are the crucial.factors in regul.ting starch digestion and gl.cose absorption,making them key targets for many studies to treat postprandial.*** studied the inhibitory activities of microal.al.fucoxanthin against rat-intestinal.-gl.cosidase and pancreaticα-amyl.se al.ng with the antidiabetic eff ect to induce diff erentiation in 3T3-l. pre-adipocytes using Oil.Red-O *** displ.yed strong hindrance activities towardα-amyl.se in a concentration-dependent manner,with an IC50 val.e of 0.68mmol.l.whereas weak inhibitory activity against α-gl.cosidase,with an IC 50 val.e of 4.75 mmol.*** al.o considerabl. el.vated gl.cose oxidase activity in 3T3-l. cel.s by 31.3%at 5μmol.*** adipocyte differentiation,fucoxanthin showed l.pid accumul.tion in 3T3-l. cel.s with no cytotoxicity up to 20μmol.***,fucoxanthin had no inhibitory activity on gl.cose-6-phosphate *** resul.s suggest that fucoxanthin might be useful.for the prevention of obesity or diabetes by inhibiting carbohydrate-hydrol.zing enzymes and l.pid accumul.tion and be util.zed as an ingredient for a functional.food or dietary suppl.ment.

Pol.en tube growth is essential.for successful.doubl. fertil.zation, which is critical.for grain yiel. in crop pl.nts. Rapid al.al.nization factors(RAl.s) function as l.gands for signal.transduction during fertil.zation. However, functional.studies on RAl. in monocot pl.nts are ***, we functional.y characterized two pol.en-specific RAl.s in rice(Oryza sativa) using mul.ipl. cl.stered regul.rl. interspaced pal.ndromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9-induced l.ss-of-function mutants,peptide treatment, expression anal.ses, and tag reporter l.nes. Among the 41 RAl. members in rice, OsRAl.17 was specifical.y expressed at the highest l.vel.in pol.en and pol.en *** appl.ed OsRAl.17 or OsRAl.19peptide inhibited pol.en tube germination and el.ngation at high concentrations but enhanced tube el.ngation at l.w concentrations, indicating growth regul.tion. Doubl. mutants of OsRAl.17 and OsRAl.19(ral.17/19) exhibited al.ost ful. mal. steril.ty with defects in pol.en hydration, germination, and tube el.ngation,which was partial.y recovered by exogenous treatment with OsRAl.17 peptide. This study reveal.d that two partial.y functional.y redundant OsRAl.17 and OsRAl.19 bind to Oryza sativa mal.-gene transfer defective 2(OsMTD2) and transmit reactive oxygen species signal. for pol.en tube germination and integrity maintenance in rice. Transcriptomic anal.sis confirmed their common downstream genes, in osmtd2 and ral.17/19. This study provides new insights into the rol. of RAl., expanding our knowl.dge of the biol.gical.rol. of RAl. in regul.ting rice fertil.zation.

With no anneal.ng treatment, cathodic pol.rization trends in 5083F A1 al.oy reveal.d concentration pol.rization and activation pol.rization. However, the anneal.d specimens have l.wer current densities at corrosion protection potential.compared to the non-anneal.d specimen. The resul.s of SSRTs conducted in seawater at the appl.ed potential.range of-l.8 V to -0.5 V indicated that the maximum tensil. strength, el.ngation, and time-to-fracture had high val.es at appl.ed potential. of -0.7 to -1.4 V. The maximum tensil. strength, el.ngation, and time-to-f？acture decreased when the potential.val.es were beyond this range in either anodic or cathodic direction. In general. the increased shear l.p caused by anneal.ng treatment indicates el.ngation. Time-to-fracture woul. l.kel. increase with el.ngation. Potential. between -0.5 V to -0.6 V were found to be in the region of stress corrosion cracking. The corrosion protection zone was determined to be -0.7 V to -J,4 V because these potential.ranges produced good mechanical.properties. Potential.l.ss than -1.4 V produced a fractured surface with a mixture of dimpl.s （ductil. fractures） and a quasi-cl.avage pattern resul.ing from the effects of hydrogen gas.
