A simplified fragility analysis of fan type cable stayed bridges

A simplified fragility analysis of fan type cable stayed bridges usingProbabilistic risk Analysis (PrA) procedure is presented for determining their failure probabilityunder random ground motion. Seismic input to the bridge support is considered to be a riskconsistent response spectrum which is obtained from a separate analysis. For the response analysis,the bridge deck is modeled as a beam supported on springs at different points. The stiffnesses ofthe springs are determined by a separate 2D static analysis of cable-tower-deck system. The analysisprovides a coupled stiffness matrix for the spring system. A continuum method of analysis usingdynamic stiffness is Used to determine the dynamic properties of the bridges .The response of thebridge deck is obtained by the response spectrum method of analysis as applied to multi-degree offreedom system which duly takes into account the quasi - static component of bridge deck *** fragility analysis includes uncertainties arising due to the variation in ground motion,material property, modeling, method of analysis, ductility factor and damage concentration *** of failure of the bridge deck is determined by the First Order Second Moment (FOSM)method of reliability. A three span double plane symmetrical fan type cable stayed bridge of totalspan 689 m, is used as an illustrative example. The fragility curves for the bridge deck failure areobtained under a number of parametric variations. Some of the important conclusions of the studyindicate that (ⅰ) not only vertical component but also the horizontal component of ground motionhas considerable effect on the probability of failure; (ⅱ) ground motion with no time lag betweensupport excitations provides a smaller probability of failure as compared to ground motion with verylarge time lag between support excitation; and (ⅲ) probability of failure may considerablyincrease for soft soil condition.

Improving the Economic Values of the recycled Plastics Using Nanotechnology Associated Studies

recycled polystyrene （PS） cups were chopped up and separately incorporated with multiwall carbon nanotubes （MWCNTs） and NiZn ferrite （Ni0.6Zn0.4Fe2O4） nanoparticles prior to electrospinning under different conditions. These nanoscale inclusions were initially dispersed well in dimethylformamide （DMF）, and then known amounts of the recycled PS pieces were added to the dispersions prior to 30 min of sonication followed by 4 h of high-speed agitation at 750 r/min. The thermal, dielectric, surface hydrophobic, and magnetic properties of the resultant nanocomposite fibers were determined by thermal comparative, capacitance bridge, vibrating sample magnetometer （VSM）, and goniometer techniques, respectively. Test results confirmed that the physical properties of recycled nanofibers were significantly increased as a function of the inclusion concentrations, which may be because of their excellent properties. The consumption of polymeric products as well as their waste materials has dramatically grown worldwide. Although plastic recycling, reprocessing, and reusing rates are growing, the physical properties and economic value of recycled plastics are significantly low. Consequently, this work provides a detailed explanation of how to improve recycled plastics, making them into highly valued new nanoproducts for various industrial applications, including filtration, textile, transportation, construction, and energy.

The blast wave model with Tsallis statistics is used to analyze the transverse momentum spectra of protons(p),deuterons(d),and tritons(t)in√S_(NN)=200 GeV gold-gold(Au-Au)collisions at the rHIC in various centrality *** particular transverse momentum ranges,the model results closely match experimental data from the PHENIX(p)and STAr(d and t)*** data are compared with those of protons obtained in Cu+Cu collisions and deuterons and tritons in ru+ru collisions at a center of mass energy of 200 GeV from the STAr *** spectra are used to derive the kinetic freeze-out temperatures,transverse flow velocities,and freeze-out *** to the findings,the kinetic freeze-out temperature increases from the central to peripheral *** this transition,the transverse flow velocity and freeze-out volume both *** the collisions of both collaborations,this study reveals mass-dependent kinetic freeze-out temperature and differential volume ***,the non-extensivity parameter q decreases with increasing centrality of the studied heavy-ion collisions,and heavier mass particles have smaller values of q,which implies higher degrees of thermalization and equilibrium in more central collisions and for heavier particles.

Background:The gut microbiota plays an important role in the colonisation resistance and invasion of *** Typhimurium has the potential to establish a niche by displacing the microbiota in the chicken gut causing continuous faecal shedding that can result in contaminated eggs or egg *** the current study,we investigated the dynamics of gut microbiota in laying chickens during Salmonella Typhimurium *** optimisation of the use of an infeed probiotic supplement for restoration of gut microbial balance and reduction of Salmonella Typhimurium load was also ***:Salmonella infection caused dysbiosis by decreasing(FDrrobial genera,such as Blautia,Enorma,Faecalibacterium,Shuttleworthia,Sellimonas,Intestinimonas and Subdoligranulum and increasing the abundance of genera such as Butyricicoccus,Erysipelatoclostridium,Oscillibacter and *** higher Salmonella Typhimurium load resulted in lower(Pra such as Lactobacillus,Alistipes,Bifidobacterium,Butyricimonas,Faecalibacterium and romboutsia suggesting Salmonella driven gut microbiota *** Salmonella load led to increased abundance of genera such as Caproiciproducens,Acetanaerobacterium,Akkermansia,Erysipelatoclostridium,Eisenbergiella,EscherichiaShigella and Flavonifractor suggesting a positive interaction of these genera with Salmonella in the displaced gut *** supplementation improved the gut microbiota by balancing the abundance of most of the genera displaced by the Salmonella challenge with clearer effects observed with continuous supplementation of the *** levels of acetate and butyrate in the faeces were not affected(P>0.05)by Salmonella challenge and the butyrate level was increased by the continuous feeding of the *** supplementation in Salmonella challenged chickens resulted in higher level of *** probiotic supplementation decreased(P<0

Etch Induction Time in Cr-39 Detectors Etched in Na2CO3 Mixed NaOH Solution

Six different solutions of 6M NaOH, containing different amounts of Na2CO3 at 70℃ were used for the revelation of latent damage trails in Cr-39 plastic track detectors. These detectors were earlier exposed to fission fragments from ^252 Cf source for 30 min in vacuum and were then etched in the respective solutions for different etching time intervals of 5-20 min starting from 5min up to 160min. The etch induction time in each detector was obtained by extrapolating the intersection of resulting curves of track lengths and track diameters with the time axis.

This work examines the entropy generation with heat and mass transfer in magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)stagnation point flow across a stretchable *** heat transport process is investigated with respect to the viscous dissipation and thermal radiation,whereas the mass transport is observed under the influence of a chemical *** irreversibe factor is measured through the application of the second law of *** established non-linear partial differential equations(PDEs)have been replaced by acceptable ordinary differential equations(ODEs),which are solved numerically via the bvp4 c method(built-in package in MATLAB).The numerical analysis of the resulting ODEs is carried out on the different flow parameters,and their effects on the rate of heat transport,friction drag,concentration,and the entropy generation are *** is determined that the concentration estimation and the Sherwood number reduce and enhance for higher values of the chemical reaction parameter and the Schmidt number,although the rate of heat transport is increased for the Eckert number and heat generation/absorption parameter,*** entropy generation augments with boosting values of the Brinkman number,and decays with escalating values of both the radiation parameter and the Weissenberg number.

rare earth element signatures of Paleoproterozoic Sallopat phosphorites of Aravalli Basin,India:implications for diagenetic effects and depositional environment

As a repository of rEE,the Paleoproterozoic phosphorite of the Aravalli Basin in India is explored time to *** phosphorite deposits of the Sallopat sub-basin Banswara district of the Aravalli Supergroup show moderate rEE concentrations much lower than that of average marine *** ratios and PAAS-normalized rEE distribution patterns reflect MrEE enrichment over LrEE and HrEE in these *** enrichment confirmed by(Sm/Yb)Nversus(Sm/Pr)Nrelationship and attributed to the selective uptake by cyanobacteria and mixing of riverine inputs.Y/Ho,La/Ce and Er/Nd ratios confirm that the rEE in Sallopat phosphorites might have been affected by the argillaceous terrigenous and plagioclase-rich sediments probably derived from Banded Gneissic *** modeling indicates that rEE were concentrated during early diagenetic processes with limited weathering *** negative to low Ce anomaly depicts oxic to sub-oxic conditions of seawater due to oxidation of Ce^(3+)to Ce^(4+)whereas Eu^(3+)reduced to Eu^(2+)indicating positive Euanomaly and reducing conditions as well during the *** anomalies may be due to the stratified restricted marine environment of upwelling and mingling of organic-rich anoxic deep water with oxic upper seawater prior to the formation of phosphorite deposits in the *** of rEE in Sallopat phosphorite relies on various physico-chemical *** phosphorites may have been formed in restricted marine water which was influenced by extra clastic sediment input carried out by fluvial systems.
