Purpo.e: Cervical spine is co.sidered to.be the mo.t mo.ing part o. vertebral co.umn. It is lo.ated in a very impo.tant part o. the bo.y i.e. neck having so.e very impo.tant structures related to.it. Any age related changes o.curring in such a part o. vertebral co.umn may lead to.many diso.ders and disabilities. Co.plete familiarity o. this entire regio. anato.ically as well as radio.o.ically is therefo.e o. utmo.t impo.tance fo. the diagno.is and management o. such diso.ders. Aim o. this wo.k is to.evaluate the frequency o. age related degeneratio. in cervical spine in Saudi adult asympto.atic subjects using CT scan images. Metho.s: In this study, 105 cases o. sympto.less adults ranging between 18 - 90 years o. age were included. The cases were classified into.3 gro.ps;adult gro.p (18 - 35 years o.d), middle age gro.p (36 - 55 years o.d) and o.d age gro.p (56 - 90 years o.d). Their CT scans were perfo.med in the department o. radio.o.y, King khalid Ho.pital, Al Kharj and studied fo. any age related changes. Results: The first age gro.p catego.y included 35 cases;20 had no.mal and 15 degenerative changes. The seco.d catego.y included 35 cases;3 had no.mal and 32 degenerative changes. The third catego.y included 35 cases. Single had no.mal and 34 degenerative changes. Co.clusio.: Asympto.atic degenerative changes are co.mo. in the cervical spine after 30 years o. age in Saudi adult asympto.atic subjects.

Purpo.e: Spleen is enlarged in a variety o. clinical co.ditio.s including infectio.s, infiltrative, immuno.o.ic and malignant states. Evaluatio. o. splenic size is impo.tant in every physical examinatio. o. the abdo.en by a physician. Determinatio. o. its size by palpatio. can be extremely inaccurate because spleen is never palpable till it is enlarged 2 to.3 times its o.n size. The accurate diagno.is o. splenic enlargement is a matter o. co.siderable impo.tance as it is a useful guide fo. arriving at a diagno.is o. the disease. It is therefo.e o. utmo.t impo.tance to.reso.t to.a mechanism that will give us an accurate estimatio. o. the size o. spleen. Aim o. this wo.k was to.determine the no.mal range o. spleen dimensio.s in average adult Saudi Arabian po.ulatio. and co.pare it with the published data. Metho.s: CT scans o. 34 adult patients (male and female) aged between 20 - 70 years, having no.splenic diso.ders, were co.lected fro. department o. radio.diagno.is King khalid Ho.pital Al-Kharj, KSA. Splenic vo.ume was measured by two.metho.s—by vo.umetric so.tware and the pro.ate ellipso.d fo.mula. Results: The average splenic vo.ume o. all subjects was 161.42 ± 54.91 cm3 with a range o. 106 - 319 cm3. The average splenic vo.ume o. males was 196.95 ± 48.70 cm3 and that o. female was 196.95 ± 26.97 cm3. Co.clusio.s: These results pro.ide no.mative data fo. evaluating patients with splenic enlargement.

A new MeTAMP （thiazo.ylazo.dye ligand 2-[2-（5-methyl thiazo.yl）azo.-4-metho.y pheno.） was prepared by co.pling reactio. between 5-methyl thiazo.ylazo.ium chlo.ide with 4-metho.y pheno. in alkaline alco.o.ic so.utio.. The structure o. azo.dye ligand has been characterized by available technique such as 1H-NMR, mass spectrum, FT-IR, UV-vis and elemental analysis. Eight new chelate co.plexes o. Cr（III）, Mn（II）, Fe（II）, Fe（III）, Co.III）, Ni（II）, Cu（II） and Zn（II） io.s were prepared and identified by elemental analysis, ato.ic abso.ptio., magnetic susceptibility, mo.ar co.ductance measurements, FT-IR and electro.ic spectra. The spectral and analytical data sho. that the ligand a tridentate and co.rdinating with metal io.s thro.gh the pheno.ate o. azo.N ato. which is the farthest o. thiazo.e mo.ecule and with thiazo.e N ato.. The mo.ar ratio.（M：L） was also.studied which was fo.nd 1：1 fo. Zn（II） and 1：2 fo. the rest metal io.s. Co.ductivity measurements fo. prepared co.plexes sho.ed 1：1 electro.yte fo. Cr（III）, Fe（IlI）, and Co.llI） co.plexes and no.-electro.yte fo. rest co.plexes. Stability co.stants o. co.plexes were calculated by spectro.ho.o.etry. o.tahedral co.figuratio. suggested fo. Cr（III）, Mn（II）, Fe（II）, Fe（III）, Co.III）, Ni（II） and Cu（II） but tetrahedral fo. Zn（IlI） co.plex. The so.id co.plexes are fo.nd to.have the general fo.mula IML2]Cl H2o.where M = Cr（III）, Fe（III） and Co.IIl） and [ML2] H2o.where M = Mn（II）, Fe（II）, Ni（II） and Cu（II） while [MLCI].H20 fo. Zn（II）-co.plex. The bio.o.ical activity o. ligand and its co.plexes against five types o. bacteria, Strepto.co.cus and Staphylo.o.cus aureus as example o. gram po.itive, Pseudo.o.as, Pro.eus and Esherichia co.i as example o. gram negative bacteria by agar plate different technique was studied. The activity was also.assayed o. mo.ecular level by using PCR in an attempt to.mo.ito. DNA banding pattern.

作为一类新型多孔材料,金属有机骨架(Mo.s)常被开发作为荧光传感器用来监测水中的污染物,开发稳定且易制备的Mo.s材料实现选择性检测有毒的Fe^(3+)仍具有较高挑战。本工作中,我们报道一例水稳定的二重穿插In基Mo.:(NH_(2)Me_(2))[In(fdc)_(2)]·2H_(2)o.BUT-205,BUT代表北京工业大学,H_(2)fdc=呋喃-2,5-二羧酸)。BUT-205的构筑采用生物质衍生配体,其结构通过单晶X射线衍射确立。这个材料可作为高效的水相Fe^(3+)离子传感器,具有高的灵敏度和选择性。检测限达到1.3μmo.·L^(-1),低于美国环保局规定的饮用水中安全标准(15.7μmo.·L^(-1)),并且该传感材料可以回收利用至少4次。

Backgro.nd/Aim: The present study was directed to.investigate the accuracy o. ultraso.nd (USG) in early detectio. o. develo.mental dysplasia o. the hip (DDH) to.prevent permanent co.plicatio.s. Material & Metho.s: A to.al o. 276 infants was investigated;their ages range fro. 1 - 6 mo.ths. Patients referred fro. the clinic based o. clinical assessment (mainly Barlo.& o.to.ani maneuvers). Then the patient’s hips were examined by expert radio.o.ists in USG scan. After that, dynamic (co.o.al and transverse) & static ultraso.nd views evaluated by the same radio.o.ist using Graf’s criteria. Infants with abno.mal ultraso.nd findings suggestive o. DDH were fo.lo.ed up after 4 - 6 weeks by the same investigato. to.mo.ito. the pro.ress. At the same time, the patient referred to.a specialist fo. co.servative management fro. the first po.itive findings. Results: Amo.g the 276 referred patients, infants with no.mal stable hips (Graf Type I and Type II a+) were 221 (80%), 155 o. them were female and 66 male infants. Infants with unstable hips based o. Graf’s criteria (Type II a-, II b, II c and Type III a) were 55 (20%). o.t o. 55 with abno.mal findings, the affected hips o. bo.h sides, right and left were: 5 cases (1.8%), 7 (2.5%) and 43 hips (15.5%) co.secutively. o.t o. 55 infants affected;3 referred to.tertiary centers fo. further surgical management while 52 managed co.servatively. Co.clusio.: Delayed treatment rates o. DDH and co.plicatio.s co.ld be reduced by the usage o. the USG after the first mo.th o. life. In additio. to.physical assessment, USG fo. high-risk infants will pro.ide mo.e accurate diagno.is and minimize co.plicatio.s.
