Background Comprehensive quantitative evidence on the risk and protective factors for sudden infant death syndrome(SIDS)effects is lacking.We investigated the risk and protective factors related to SIDS.Methods We conducted an umbrella review of meta-analyses of observational and interventional studies assessing SIDS-related factors.PubMed/MEDLINE,Embase,EBSCO,and Google Scholar were searched from inception until January 18,2023.Data extraction,quality assessment,and certainty of evidence were assessed by using A Measurement Tool Assessment Systematic Reviews 2 following PRISMA guidelines.According to observational evidence,credibility was graded and classified by class and quality of evidence(CE;convincing,highly suggestive,suggestive,weak,or not significant).Our study protocol was registered with PROSPERO(CRD42023458696).The risk and protective factors related to SIDS are presented as equivalent odds ratios(eORs).Results We identified eight original meta-analyses,including 152 original articles,covering 12 unique risk and protective factors for SIDS across 21 countries/regions and five continents.Several risk factors,including prenatal drug exposure[eOR=7.84(95%CI=4.81–12.79),CE=highly suggestive],prenatal opioid exposure[9.55(95%CI=4.87–18.72),CE=suggestive],prenatal methadone exposure[9.52(95%CI=3.34–27.10),CE=weak],prenatal cocaine exposure[4.38(95%CI=1.95–9.86),CE=weak],prenatal maternal smoking[2.25(95%CI=1.95–2.60),CE=highly suggestive],postnatal maternal smoking[1.97(95%CI=1.75–2.22),CE=weak],bed sharing[2.89(95%CI=1.81–4.60),CE=weak],and infants found with heads covered by bedclothes after last sleep[11.01(95%CI=5.40–22.45),CE=suggestive],were identified.On the other hand,three protective factors,namely,breastfeeding[0.57(95%CI=0.39–0.83),CE=non-significant],supine sleeping position[0.48(95%CI=0.37–0.63),CE=suggestive],and pacifier use[0.44(95%CI=0.30–0.65),CE=weak],were also identified.Conclusions Based on the evidence,we propose several risk and protective factors for SIDS.This study suggests the need

Introduction Antibiotic use for acute otitis media(AOM)is one of the major sources of antimicrobial resistance.However,the effective minimal antibiotic duration for AOM remains unclear.Moreover,guidelines often recommend broad ranges(5-10 days)of antibiotic use,yet the clinical impact of such a wide window has not been assessed.Methods We systematically searched PubMed/MEDLINE,Embase,Scopus,Web of Science,and Cochrane Library from database inception to 6 October 2021.Network meta-analysis was conducted on randomized controlled trials that assessed antibiotic treatment for AOM in children(PROSPERO CRD42020196107).Results For amoxicillin and amoxicillin-clavulanate,7-day regimens were noninferior to 10-day regimens in clinical responses[amoxicillin:risk ratio(RR)0.919(95%CI 0.820-1.031),amoxicillin-clavulanate:RR 1.108(0.957-1.282)],except for≤2 years.For the third-generation cephalosporins,7-day and 10-day regimens had similar clinical responses compared to placebo[7-day:RR 1.420(1.190-1.694),10-day:RR 1.238(1.125-1.362)compared to placebo].However,5-day regimens of amoxicillin-clavulanate and third-generation cephalosporins were inferior to 10-day regimens.Compared to amoxicillin,a shorter treatment duration was tolerable with amoxicillin-clavulanate.Conclusions Our findings indicated that 1O days of antibiotic use may be unnecessarily long,while the treatment duration should be longer than 5 days.Otherwise,5-day regimens would be sufficient for a modest treatment goal.Our findings revealed that the current wide range of recommended antibiotic durations may have influenced the clinical outcome of AOM,and a narrower antibiotic duration window should be re-established.

In a symbiotic and mutualistic manner,the gut microbiota strongly influences many vital aspects of host physiology,biology,repair,and regeneration.The role of microbiota in many areas of regenerative medicine is just beginning to emerge,but it is under-recognized because of its complexity.As we remove the barriers that impede our understanding of this complex entity,we will uncover some of the most vital facets of our microbiome that make us who we are,its intrinsic connection with not only our wellbeing,but also with regeneration within.This will subsequently define its utility in regenerative medicine.

For alleviating dry mouth symptoms,edible films based on hyaluronic acid(HA)with 3 different m(800,1200 and 2300 kDa)were prepared(800 F,1200 F and 2300 F,respectively),and the properties as well as effectiveness were compared.The concentration of each HA dispersion for film forming was set as 3.0%,1.5%or 1.0%,for the m800,1200 and 2300 kDa,respectively,based on the solubility.The 800 F showed the highest thickness,tensile strength,and water vapor transparency,whereas obtained the lowest transparency and elongation at break among samples.All of the HA films showed safety against microorganism during 28 storage day at 40℃with 60%humidity.The optimum site for film attachment in mouth was the palate,and800 F was the most effective for stimulating saliva secretion,eliciting a 38%increase compared to control(without film),tested by the elderly over 65 years old.By the sensory test,800 F was also the most acceptable.Based on above results,the edible films effectively stimulating saliva secretion could be produced with HA,and the physical,sensory characteristics as well as disintegration times of the film could be controlled by mand the dissolution concentration of HA.

Background The exact pathophysiological mechanism of transient global amnesia(TGA)is unknown.It is debatable whether TGA is a risk factor for stroke.Therefore,here we investigated the possibility of TGA as a risk factor for stroke in a real-world setting using large-scale nationwide health claims data.Methods We used health claims data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service(NHIS).Patients diagnosed with TGA between 2007 and 2013 were selected.We initially extracted patients without TGA who were preferentially matched for age and sex with the patients with TGA at a ratio of 10:1 from the whole dataset.Further,we performed 1:2 propensity score matching analysis to balance the baseline characteristics between the two groups.In the propensity score-matched dataset,we performed multivariable Cox regression analysis to investigate the association between TGA and stroke type,including ischaemic,haemorrhagic and all stroke types.Results Patients with TGA(n=14673)were selected from the NHIS database.After extracting from the whole database(n=140486)and propensity score matching their data at a 1:2 ratio,a total of 10448 and 20442 patients were finally assigned to the TGA and control groups,respectively.The multivariable Cox regression analysis demonstrated that the TGA group had a higher risk of ischaemic stroke and all types of stroke(adjusted HR=1.194;95%CI:1.043 to 1.368;and HR=1.197;95%CI:1.056 to 1.357,respectively).Conclusions Analysis of the nationwide claims database showed that TGA could be an important risk factor for stroke,especially for ischaemic stroke.

Background:Hospitalized patients recovering from coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)may experience disability and suffer from significant physical and mental impairment requiring physical rehabilitation following their discharge.However,to date,no attempt has been made to collate and synthesize literature in this area.Objective:This systematic review examines the outcomes of different physical rehabilitation interventions tested in COVID-19 patients who were discharged from hospital.Search strategy:A systematic search of MEDLINE/PubMed,CINAHL,Scopus and medRxiv was conducted to identify articles published up to March 2022.Inclusion criteria:This systematic review included studies of outpatient rehabilitation programs for people recovering from COVID-19 who received physical activity,exercise,or breathing training to enhance or restore functional capacity,pulmonary function,quality of life,and mental health or function.Data extraction and analysis:Selection of included articles,data extraction,and methodological quality assessments were conducted by two review authors respectively,and consensus was reached through discussion and consultation with a third reviewer.Finally,we review the outcomes of studies based on four categories including:(1)functional capacity,(2)pulmonary function,(3)quality of life,and(4)mental health status.Results:A total of 7534 titles and abstracts were screened;10 cohort studies,4 randomized controlled trials and 13 other prospective studies involving 1583 patients were included in our review.Early physical rehabilitation interventions applied in COVID-19 patients who were discharged from the hospital improved multiple parameters related to functional capacity,pulmonary function,quality of life and mental health status.Conclusion:Physical rehabilitation interventions may be safe,feasible and effective in COVID-19 patients discharged from the hospital,and can improve a variety of clinically relevant outcomes.Further studies are warranted to determine the underlying mechanisms.

Novel ternary metals-based telluride electrocatalyst with synergistic effects of high valence non-3d metal and oxophilic Te for pH-universal hydrogen evolution reaction

Electrocatalyst designs based on oxophilic foreign atoms are considered a promising approach for developing efficient pH-universal hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)electrocatalysts by overcoming the sluggish alkaline HER kinetics.Here,we design ternary transition metals-based nickel telluride(Mo WNi Te)catalysts consisting of high valence non-3d Mo and W metals and oxophilic Te as a first demonstration of non-precious heterogeneous electrocatalysts following the bifunctional mechanism.The Mo WNi Te showed excellent HER catalytic performance with overpotentials of 72,125,and 182 mV to reach the current densities of 10,100,and 1000 mA cm^(-2),respectively,and the corresponding Tafel slope of 47,52,and 58 mV dec-1in alkaline media,which is much superior to commercial Pt/C.Additionally,the HER performance of Mo WNi Te is well maintained up to 3000 h at the current density of 100 mA cm^(-2).It is further demonstrated that the Mo WNi Te exhibits remarkable HER activities with an overpotential of 45 mV(31 mV)and Tafel slope of 60 mV dec-1(34 mV dec-1)at 10 mA cm^(-2)in neutral(acid)media.The superior HER performance of Mo WNi Te is attributed to the electronic structure modulation,inducing highly active low valence states by the incorporation of high valence non-3d transition metals.It is also attributed to the oxophilic effect of Te,accelerating water dissociation kinetics through a bifunctional catalytic mechanism in alkaline media.Density functional theory calculations further reveal that such synergistic effects lead to reduced free energy for an efficient water dissociation process,resulting in remarkable HER catalytic performances within universal pH environments.

This study aimed to develop the seasonal forecast models of Korean dust days over South Korea in the springtime. Forecast mode was a ternary forecast （below normal, normal, above normal） which was classified based on the mean and the standard deviation of Korean dust days for a period of 30 years （1981-2010）. In this study, we used three kinds of monthly data： the Korean dust days observed in South Korea, the National Center for Environmental Prediction in National Center for Atmospheric Research （NCEP/NCAR） reanalysis data for meteorological factors over source regions of Asian dust, and the large-scale climate indices offered from the Climate Diagnostic Center and Climate Prediction Center in NOAA. Forecast guidance consisted of two components; ordinal logistic regression model to generate trinomial distributions, and conversion algorithm to generate ternary forecast by two thresholds. Forecast guidance was proposed for each month separately and its predictability was evaluated based on skill scores.

Effect of change of sand properties on travel distance of ricocheted debris

The debris from exploded buildings can ricochet after colliding with the ground,thus increasing the debris travel distance and danger from any associated impacts or collisions.To reduce this danger,the travel distance of ricocheted debris must be accurately predicted.This study analyzed the change in the travel distance of ricocheted concrete debris relative to changes in the properties of a sand medium.Direct shear tests were conducted to measure the change in internal friction angle as a function of temperature and water content of the sand.Finite element analysis(FEA)was then applied to these variables to predict the speed and angle of the debris after ricochet.The FEA results were compared with results of low-speed ricochet experiments,which employed variable temperature and water content.The travel distance of the debris was calculated using MATLAB,via trajectory equations considering the drag coefficient.As the internal friction angle decreased,the shear stress decreased,leading to deeper penetration of the debris into the sand.As the loss of kinetic energy increased,the velocity and travel distance of the ricocheted debris decreased.Changes in the ricochet velocity and travel distance of the debris,according to changes in the internal friction angle,indicated that the debris was affected by the environment.
