Current modelling techniques for the prediction of conveying line pressure drop in low velocity dense phase pneumatic conveying are largely based on steady state analyses. Work in this area has been on-going for many years with only marginal improvements in the accuracy of prediction being achieved. Experimental and theoretical investigations undertaken by the authors suggest that the flow mechanisms involved in dense phase conveying are dominated by transient effects rather than those of steady state and are possibly the principal reasons for the limited improvement in accuracy. This paper reports on investigations on the pressure fluctuation behaviour in dense phase pneumatic conveying of powders. The pressure behaviour of the gas flow in the top section of the pipeline was found to exhibit pulsatile oscillations. In particular, the pulse velocity showed variation in magnitude while the frequency of the oscillations rarely exceeded 5 Hz. A wavelet analysis using the Daubechie 4 wavelet found that the amplitude of the oscillations increased along the pipeline. Furthermore, there was significant variation in gas pulse amplitude for different types of particulate material.

Mount Cameroon volcano has erupted several times in the 20 th Century with documented eruptions in 1909,1922,1954,1959,1982,1999 and *** of historic volcanism is represented by several older lava flows and lahar deposits around the flanks of the *** study aims to assess the evolution of Mount Cameroon volcanism through its eruptive history via interpretation of mineralogical,whole rock geochemical and Pb,Sr,Nd isotope data generated from historic and recent lava *** this study,samples were collected from the 1959,1982,1999 and 2000 eruptions and from several historic eruption sites with unknown eruption *** of major and trace element data demonstrates that Mount Cameroon is geotectonically associated with within-plate Ocean Island Basalt *** than 90%of the studied historic lavas(n=29)classify as tephrites and basanites whereas the modern lavas(n=38)are predominantly trachybasalts,demonstrating evolution from primitive to evolved lavas over time typically in response to fractional ***,the lavas are porphyritic with main mineral phases being olivine,clinopyroxene,plagioclase feldspars and Fe-Ti-Cr *** 1982 lavas are predominantly aphyric and dominated by lath-shaped flow-aligned plagioclase in the *** chemistry shows variable forsterite compositions from *** vary from diopside through augite to titanaugite with chemical composition ranges from Wo45En32Fs7 to *** feldspars vary from labradorite(An567 O)to bytownite(An80-87).For the Fe-Ti-Cr oxides,calculated ulvospinel component shows a wide variation from ***-normative classification on the Di-Ol-Hy-Qz-Ne system shows that all Mount Cameroon lavas are nepheline-normative(Ne ranges from4.20 wt.%to 11.45 wt.%).Radiogenic isotope data demonstrate that Mount Cameroon lavas are HIMU(or high μ=238U/204Pb),characterized by 206Pb/204Pb=20.19-20.46,207Pb/204Pb=15.63-15.69,208Pb/204

In Chengdu, on May 24, 2014, the Chinese Geriatrics Society was brought together for the 7 th National Conference on Prevention and Control of Common Diseases in Elderly People. The ple- nary talks of course included addresses on com- mon individual diseases such as Alzheimer dis- ease, Parkinson disease and stroke. They also featured presentations on frailty, and on “ com- mon diseases and their joint management”. This is a more literal translation from the Chinese, but the phrase comes closer to what is present （and what must be done） than the more commonly em- ployed English word of “ multimorbidity” As Chinese Geriatrics Society President Wang Jian ye pointed out in the preface to his remarks on be- nign prostatic hypertrophy and lower urinary tract symptoms, advances in geriatric medicine will come about as we learn how to treat not just single illnesses of ageing, hut many diseases ac- tive at the same time in the same person. 在对非牛顿流体中鞭毛细菌游动行为的理论和实验研究中,学术界仍然存在许多具有争议和矛盾的结果。本研究中,我们使用三维实时追踪测速技术测量野生型和平滑游动型大肠杆菌在牛顿流体、剪切稀化和粘弹性介质中的游动轨迹和速度,并分析其游动行为。我们发现在较高浓度的甲基纤维素溶液中,大肠杆菌游动的速度增快主要是由于液体的剪切稀化效应。我们也使用基于阻力理论的分析模型来估算剪切稀化效应对细菌游速的影响,并用来支持我们的实验结果。同时,我们认为,剪切引起的法向应力会减少细菌游动过程中的摆动行为,但这并不会显著影响其游动速度。然而,剪切引起的法向应力在减少鞭毛收束时间方面起着重要作用,并改变了大肠杆菌个体游动的速度分布。基于这一现象,我们提出了一个无量纲数,即"扼制数"(Str),用于表征这种效应。

In view of the increasing life expectancy in different parts of the world, a larger proportion of elderly patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) requiring oncological treatment is expected. The clinicopathological characteristics of HCC in elderly patients and in younger patients are different. Elderly patients, in general, also have more comorbidities. Evaluation of the efficacy of different HCC treatment options in elderly patients is necessary to optimize treatment outcomes for them. Treatment modalities for HCC include hepatectomy, liver transplantation, radiofrequency ablation, transarterial chemoembolization, and molecular-targeted therapy with sorafenib. In this review, current evidence on the risks and outcomes of the different HCC treatments for elderly patients are discussed. According to data in the literature, elderly patients and younger patients benefited similarly from HCC treatments. More clinical data are needed for the determination of selecting criteria on elderly HCC patients to maximize their chance of getting the most appropriate and effective treatments. As such,further studies evaluating the outcomes of different HCC treatment modalities in elderly patients are warranted.
