The feasibility of a commercially available assay for C-reactive protein(CRP,CRP for humans:hCRP,and CRP for dogs:vCRP)and a trial reagent of serum amyloid A(SAA,vSAA for animals)were applied to the measurement of acute phase proteins in zoo animals,particularly in nonhuman primates and feline carnivores was *** showed that hCRP and vSAA methods were applicable to measure CRP and SAA in *** was a highly signifcant correlation between both parameters with remarkably high correlation coefcient.A higher proportion of Bonnet macaques in Haplorhini,and the linear regression with good correlation between hCRP and vSAA levels were *** values in healthy Bonnet macaques were hCRP(46.86±30.97 nmol/L)and vSAA(9.06±1.95μg/mL).Although Ring-tailed lemur,which belonging to Strepsirrhini,showed low vSAA concentrations(reference values:1.08±0.47μg/mL),vSAA in patients was apparently *** vCRP and vSAA methods were applicable to measurements of CRP and SAA in feline carnivores for highly signifcant correlation between both *** two methods were also been deteded in lions,tigers and *** assays can be applied to measure SAA levels in other carnivores and *** conclusion,vSAA systems have potential utility as diagnostic tools for health screening and prediction in zoo animals.

Does foreign direct investment （FDI） into developing countries affect the growth of local firms in host countries？ Using a dataset of 38 sectors in China ＇s electrical and electronics industry, in this paper, we analyze whether FDI has a positive effect on loeal firms, with technology spillovers, added value and increasing total faetor productivity, or a negative, market stealing, effect. Estimating the relationship between growth of local firms and investment offoreign firms, our results show that FDI is likely to have a negative impact on the growth of local firms in sectors with large disparities in technology and less experience in business. Therefore, local firms lacking in technology need to find markets with no competition from foreign firms or determine strategies to compensate technology disparities.

Since precise self-position estimation is required for autonomous flight of aerial robots, there has been some studies on self-position estimation of indoor aerial robots. In this study, we tackle the self-position estimation problem by mounting a small downward-facing camera on the chassis of an aerial robot. We obtain robot position by sensing the features on the indoor *** this work, we used the vertex points(tile corners) where four tiles on a typical tiled floor connected, as an existing feature of the floor. Furthermore, a small lightweight microcontroller is mounted on the robot to perform image processing for the onboard camera. A lightweight image processing algorithm is developed. So, the real-time image processing could be performed by the microcontroller alone which leads to conduct on-board real time tile corner detection. Furthermore, same microcontroller performs control value calculation for flight commanding. The flight commands are implemented based on the detected tile corner information. The above mentioned all devices are mounted on an actual machine, and the effectiveness of the system was investigated.

In addition to surgical procedures, radiofrequency ablation is commonly used for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinomas(HCCs) of limited size and number. Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE), using iodized poppy seed oil, Lipiodol and anticancer drugs, has been actively performed for the treatment of unresectable HCC, particularly in Asian countries. Recently, Sorafenib become available for advanced HCCs when the liver is still sufficiently functional. Sorafenib is an oral multikinase inhibitor with antiproliferative and antiangiogenic effects. However, the effect of sorafenib seems to be inadequate to control the progression of HCC. Radiation therapy(RT)for HCC has a potential role across all stages of HCC. However, RT is generally not considered an option in HCC consensus documents or national guidelines, primarily because of insufficient supporting evidence. However, the method of RT has much improved because of advances in technology. Moreover, combined treatment of RT plus other treatments(TACE, sorafenib and chemotherapy etc.) has become one of the alternative therapies for HCC. Therefore, we should understand the various kinds of RT available for HCC. In this review, we focus on various kinds of external beam radiation therapy.

Is the crop insurance program effective in China? Evidence from farmers analysis in five provinces

This paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Chinese crop insurance program in terms of farmers＇ utility and welfare. A simulation model based on the power utility function was first developed to evaluate the effectiveness of crop insurance. Then, the Monte Carlo approach was used to generate the datasets of area, price, yield, cost, and income based on the characteristics of representative farmers, which were clustered and calibrated using the farm-level data of 574 individual farmers from five Chinese provinces. Finally, the effectiveness of Chinese crop insurance was evaluated by comparing the certainty equivalence（CE） of farmers＇ utility/welfare under alternative crop insurance scenarios. Government subsidy is a necessary premise for implementing the crop insurance program. The government should subsidize more than 50% of the crop insurance premium to motivate more farmers to participate in the program. The findings also show that the current crop insurance program in China has increased the farmers＇ welfare but still need to be improved to achieve the Pareto improvement and to make full use of the financial fund of the government. This paper is believed to not only extend academic research but also has significant implications for policymakers, especially in the context of rapid development of Chinese crop insurance with much issues such as rate, subsidy and coverage level needed to be improved.

Japan has yet to establish a seismic design for road box culverts(RBCs)because past major earthquakes did not damage *** recent years,structures with enlarged sectional dimensions(the purpose of which is to optimize the internal space in RBCs)have become ***,the unknown seismic strength of such large RBCs makes RBC seismic designs increasingly *** seismic design methods have been developed for and applied to rectangular underground structures,e.g.,cut-and-cover tunnels,which are structurally similar to *** these methods are applicable to RBCs,it is uncertain whether they can be applied directly because there are currently no evaluation results from model tests on RBCs,which have unique structural features,e.g.,no haunch at the bottom of the ***,we verify a seismic behavior of an RBC and develop a method for evaluating it in order to establish a seismic design for *** conducted centrifuge model tests subjected to seismic force and a numerical analysis using an elastoplastic finite analysis method,in addition,we validated this analysis by comparing the test and analytical *** test results show RBCs will most likely develop rocking rotation when the ground strain exceeds approximately 0.08%.A comparison of the numerical and experimental results shows that this analysis can estimate the shear deformation behavior with approximately 90%accuracy in square cross-section ***,this analysis has tendency to underestimate the axial forces in each case and to overestimate the bending moments of some members in the case of wide cross-sections.

Microwave dielectric ceramics(MWDCs)with low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss are desired in contemporary society,where the communication frequency is developing to high frequency(sub-6G).Herein,Nd_(2)(Zr_(1−x)Ti_(x))_(3)(MoO_(4))_(9)(NZ_(1−x)T_(x)M,x=0.02-0.10)ceramics were prepared through a solid-phase *** to X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns,the ceramics could form a pure crystal structure with the R3c(167)space *** internal parameters affecting the properties of the ceramics were calculated and analyzed by employing Clausius-Mossotti relationship,Shannon’s rule,and Phillips-van Vechten-Levine(P-V-L)***,theoretical dielectric loss of the ceramics was measured and analyzed by a Fourier transform infrared(IR)radiation ***,when x=0.08 and sintered at 700℃,optimal microwave dielectric properties of the ceramics were obtained,including a dielectric constant(ε_(r))=10.94,Q·f=82,525 GHz(at 9.62 GHz),and near-zero resonant frequency temperature coefficient(τ_(f))=−12.99 ppm/℃.This study not only obtained an MWDC with excellent properties but also deeply analyzed the effects of Ti^(4+)on the microwave dielectric properties and chemical bond characteristics of Nd_(2)Zr_(3)(MoO_(4))_(9)(NZM),which laid a solid foundation for the development of rare-earth molybdate MWDC system.

Influences of the Exhaust Flow on the Boundary Layer Flow on the Wafer Surface in Spin Coating System

Recently, development of high technology has been required for the formation of thin uniform film in manufacturing processes of semiconductor as the semiconductor become more sophisticated. Spin coating is usually used for spreading photoresist on a wafer surface. However, since rotating speed of the disk is very high in spin coating, the dropped resist scatters outward and reattaches to the film surface. So, the scattered resist is removed by the exhaust flow generated at the gap between the wafer edge and the catch cup. It is seriously concerned that the stripes called Ekman spiral vortices appears on the disk in the case of high rotating speed and the film thickness increases near the wafer edge in the case of low rotating speed, because it prevent the formation of uniform film. The purpose of this study is to make clear the generation mechanism of Ekman spiral vortices and the influence of exhaust flow on it Moreover the influence of the catch cup geometry on the wafer surface boundary layer flow is investigated.
