AIM:To compare the therapeutic effects of proton pump inhibitors(PPI) and histamine 2 receptor antagonists(h2RA) on gastroduodenal ulcers under continuous use of low-dose ***:Sixty patients who had a gastroduodenal ulcer on screening endoscopy but required continuous use of low-dose aspirin were randomly assigned to receive PPI(lansoprazole 30 mg,n = 30) or h2RA(famotidine 40 mg or if famotidine had been administered before assignment,ranitidine 300 mg,n = 30).The therapeutic effects were evaluated by endoscopy after 8-wk *** presence or absence of helicobacter pylori(***) was determined by urea breath test before *** symptoms were compared with the gastrointestinal symptom rating scale(GSRS) questionnaire before and after ***:Twenty-six patients in the PPI group and 26 patients in the h2RA group,excluding dropouts,were *** were no significant differences in median age,sex,underlying disease,smoking status,*** infection,prevalence of ulcers before treatment,and lesion site between the two *** therapeutic effects were endoscopically evaluated as healed in 23 patients(88.5%) and not healed in 3 patients in the PPI group and as healed in 22 patients(84.6%) and not healed in 4 patients in the h2RA *** symptoms before treatment were uncommon in both groups;the GSRS scores were not significantly reduced after treatment as compared with before ***:The healing rate of gastroduodenal ulcers during continuous use of low-dose aspirin was greater than 80% in both the PPI group and the h2RA group,with no significant difference between the two groups.

The present study addressed the change in the microstructure of Al-2.5 wt%Fe binary alloy produced using laser powder bed fusion(L-PBF)technique by thermal exposure at 300℃,and the associated mechanical and thermal properties were systematically examined as ***-semi-cylindrical patterns corresponding to melt pools in the microstructure were macroscopically observed for the asmanufactured *** change in the melt-pool morphology was observed after thermal exposure for1000 *** the melt pools,a large number of the nanoscale metastable Al6 Fe phase particles were uniformly distributed inside columnar grains of theα-Al matrix containing concentrated solute Fe in *** sequential formation and coarsening of stableθ-Al13 Fe4 phases were observed upon exposure to a 300℃ environment,but a considerable amount of nano-sized metastable Al6 Fe phases remained even after 1000 ***,the thermal exposure continuously reduced the concentration of solute Fe atoms in theα-Al *** significant grain growth was found inα-Al matrix after 1000 h owing to the pinning effect of the dispersed fine particles on grain boundary *** results demonstrate a sluggish change in microstructural morphologies of the Al-2.5 wt%Fe *** quantified microstructural parameters addressed dominant strengthening contributions by the solid solution of Fe element and Orowan strengthening mechanism by fine Al-Fe intermetallics in the L-PBF-produced *** high strength level was sustained even after being exposed to 300℃ for long *** superior balance of mechanical properties and thermal conductivity can be achieved in the experimental alloys by taking advantage of the various microstructural parameters related to the Al-Fe intermetallic phases andα-Al matrix.

A new combined desulfurization/denitration (DeSOx/DeNOx,) process was tested in this study. The process uses the so-called powder-particle fluidized bed (PPFB) as the major reactor in which a coarse DeNOx catalyst, several hundred micrometers in size, is fluidized by flue gas as the fluidization medium particles, while a continuously supplied fine DeSOx sorbent, several to tens of micrometers in diameter, is entrained with the flue gas. Ammonia for NOx reduction is fed to the bottom of the bed, thus, SOX and NOX are simultaneously removed in the single reactor. By adopting a model gas, SO2-NO-h2O-N2-air, to simulate actual flue gas in a laboratory-scale PPFB, simultaneous SO2 and NO removals were explored with respect to various gas components of flue gas. It was found that the variations of SO2 removal with concentrations (fractions) of oxygen, water vapor, SO2 and NO in flue gas are little affected by the simultaneous NOx reduction. however, the dependencies of NO removal upon such gas components are closely related to the inter-actions between DeSOx sorbent and DeNOx catalyst.

AIM： Lafutidine, a histamine h2 receptor antagonist, exhibits gastro-protective action mediated by capsaicinsensitive afferent neurons （CSN）. We compared the effect between lafutidine and capsaicin, with respect to the interaction with endogenous prostaglandins （PG）, nitric oxide （NO） and the afferent neurons, including transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1 （TRPV1）. METhODS： Male SD rats and C57BL/6 mice, both wildtype and prostacyclin IP receptor knockout animals, were used after 18 h of fasting. Gastric lesions were induced by the po administration of hCl/ethanol （60% in 150 mmol/L hCl） in a volume of 1 mL for rats or 0.3 mL for mice. RESULTS： Both lafutidine and capsaicin （1-10 mg/kg, po） afforded dose-dependent protection against hCI/ ethanol in rats and mice. The effects were attenuated by both the ablation of CSN and pretreatment with NG-nitro- L-arginine methyl ester, yet only the effect of capsaicin was mitigated by prior administration of capsazepine, the TRPV1 antagonist, as well as indomethacin. Lafutidine protected the stomach against hCl/ethanol in IP receptor knockout mice, similar to wild-type animals, while capsaicin failed to afford protection in the animals lacking IP receptors. Neither of these agents affected the mucosal PGE2 or 6-keto PGF1α contents in rat stomachs. Capsaicin evoked an increase in [Ca^2＋]i in rat TRPV1-transfected hEK293 cells while lafutidine did not. CONCLUSION： These results suggest that although both lafutidine and capsaicin exhibit gastro-protective action mediated by CSN, the mode of their effects differs regarding the dependency on endogenous PGs/IP receptors and TRPV1. It is assumed that lafutidine interacts with CSN at yet unidentified sites other than TRPV1.
