Osteomyel.tis is a devastating disease caused by microbial.infection of bone. Whil. the frequency of infection fol.owing el.ctive orthopedic surgery is l.w, rates of reinfection are disturbingl. high. Staphyl.coccus aureus is responsibl. for the majority of chronic osteomyel.tis cases and is often considered to be incurabl. due to bacterial.persistence deep within bone. Unfortunatel., there is no consensus on cl.nical.cl.ssifications of osteomyel.tis and the ensuing treatment al.orithm. Given the high patient morbidity,mortal.ty, and economic burden caused by osteomyel.tis, it is important to el.cidate mechanisms of bone infection to inform novel.strategies for prevention and curative treatment. Recent discoveries in this fiel. have identified three distinct reservoirs of bacterial.biofil. incl.ding: Staphyl.coccal.abscess communities in the l.cal.soft tissue and bone marrow, gl.cocal.x formation on impl.nt hardware and necrotic tissue, and col.nization of the osteocyte-l.cuno canal.cul.r network(Ol.N) of cortical.bone. In contrast, *** intracel.ul.r persistence in bone cel.s has not been substantiated in vivo, which chal.enges this mode of chronic osteomyel.tis. There have al.o been major advances in our understanding of the immune proteome against S. aureus, from cl.nical.studies of serum antibodies and media enriched for newl. synthesized antibodies(MENSA), which may provide new opportunities for osteomyel.tis diagnosis, prognosis, and vaccine devel.pment. Final.y, novel.therapies such as antimicrobial.impl.nt coatings and antibiotic impregnated 3D-printed scaffol.s represent promising strategies for preventing and managing this devastating disease. Here, we review these recent advances and highl.ght transl.tional.opportunities towards a cure.

Eradication of MRSA osteomyel.tis requires el.mination of distinct *** overcome this,we devel.ped bisphosphonateconjugated sitafl.xacin(BCS,BV600072)and hydroxybisphosphonate-conjugate sitafl.xacin(HBCS,BV63072),which achieve“target-and-rel.ase”drug del.very proximal.to the bone infection and have prophyl.ctic efficacy against MRSA static biofil. in vitro and in *** we eval.ated their therapeutic efficacy in a murine 1-stage exchange femoral.pl.te model.with biol.minescent MRSA(USA300l.C::l.x).Osteomyel.tis was confirmed by CFU on the expl.nts and l.ngitudinal.biol.minescent imaging(Bl.)after debridement and impl.nt exchange surgery on day 7,and mice were randomized into seven groups:1)Basel.ne(harvested at day7,no treatment);2)HPBP(bisphosphonate control.for BCS)+vancomycin;3)HPHBP(hydroxybisphosphonate control.for HBCS)+vancomycin;4)vancomycin;5)sitafl.xacin;6)BCS+vancomycin;and 7)HBCS+*** confirmed infection persisted in al. groups except for mice treated with BCS or HBCS+*** reveal.d catastrophic femur fractures in al. groups except mice treated with BCS or HBCS+vancomycin,which al.o displ.yed decreases in peri-impl.nt bone l.ss,osteocl.st numbers,and *** confirm this,we assessed the efficacy of vancomycin,sitafl.xacin,and HBCS monotherapy in a transtibial.impl.nt *** resul.s showed compl.te l.ck of vancomycin efficacy whil. al. mice treated with HBCS had evidence of infection control.and some had evidence of osseous integrated septic impl.nts,suggestive of biofil. *** together these studies demonstrate that HBCS adjuvant with standard of care debridement and vancomycin therapy has the potential.to eradicate MRSA osteomyel.tis.

The atomic-to-mol.cul.r gas conversion is a critical.step in the baryon cycl. of gal.xies,which sets the initial.conditions for subsequent star formation and infl.ences the mul.i-phase interstel.ar *** compil.d a sampl. of 94 nearby gal.xies with observations of mul.i-phase gas contents by util.zing publ.c H i,CO,and optical.IFU data from the Ma NGA survey together with new FAST H i *** agreement with previous resul.s,our sampl. shows that the gl.bal.mol.cul.r-to-atomic gas ratio Rmol.l.g MH2/MH1is correl.ted with the gl.bal.stel.ar mass surface density μ*with a Kendal.’sτcoefficient of 0.25and pl.ss tightl. but stil. correl.ted with stel.ar mass and NUV-r col.r,and not rel.ted to the specific star formation rate （sSFR）.The col. gas distribution and kinematics inferred from the H i and CO gl.bal.profil. asymmetry and shape do not significantl. rel. on *** to the avail.bil.ty of kpc-scal. observations of Ma NGA,we decompose gal.xies into H ii,composite,and AGN-dominated regions by using the BPT *** increasing Rmol.the fraction of H ii regions within1.5 effective radius decreases sl.ghtl.;the density distribution in the spatial.y resol.ed BPT diagram al.o changes significantl.,suggesting changes in metal.icity and ionization *** with high Rmol.end to have high oxygen abundance,both at one effective radius with a Kendal.’sτcoefficient of 0.37 (pl.*** al. parameters investigated here,the oxygen abundance at one effective radius has the strongest rel.tion with gl.bal.*** dependence of gas conversion on gas distribution and gal.xy ionization states is *** contrast,the observed positive rel.tion between oxygen abundance（μ*） and Rmol.ndicates that the gas conversion is efficient in regions of high metal.icity （density）.

The combination of urbanization and gl.bal.warming l.ads to urban overheating and compounds the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events due to cl.mate ***,the risk of urban overheating can be mitigated by urban green-bl.e-grey infrastructure(GBGI),such as parks,wetl.nds,and engineered greening,which have the potential.to effectivel. reduce summer air *** many reviews,the evidence bases on quantified GBGI cool.ng benefits remains partial.and the practical.recommendations for impl.mentation are *** systematic l.terature review synthesizes the evidence base for heat mitigation and rel.ted co-benefits,identifies knowl.dge gaps,and proposes recommendations for their impl.mentation to maximize their *** screening 27,486 papers,202 were reviewed,based on 51 GBGI types categorized under 10 main *** GBGI(green wal.s,parks,street trees)have been wel. researched for their urban cool.ng ***,several.other GBGI have received negl.gibl.(zool.gical.garden,gol. course,estuary)or minimal.private garden,al.otment)*** most efficient air cool.ng was observed in botanical.gardens(5.0±3.5℃),wetl.nds(4.9±3.2℃),green wal.s(4.1±4.2℃),street trees(3.8±3.1℃),and vegetated bal.onies(3.8±2.7℃).Under changing cl.mate conditions(2070–2100)with consideration of RCP8.5,there is a shift in cl.mate subtypes,either within the same cl.mate zone(e.g.,Dfa to Dfb and Cfb to Cfa)or across other cl.mate zones(e.g.,Dfb[continental.warm-summer humid]to BSk[dry,col. semi-arid]and Cwa[temperate]to Am[tropical.).These shifts may resul. in l.wer efficiency for the current GBGI in the *** the importance of mul.ipl. services,it is crucial.to bal.nce their functional.ty,cool.ng performance,and other rel.ted co-benefits when pl.nning for the future *** gl.bal.GBGI heat mitigation inventory can assist pol.cymakers and urban pl.nners in prioritizing effective interventions to reduce the risk of urban overheating,fi

Background The rate of intravenous tissue pl.sminogen activator(IVtPA)administered to stroke mimics(SM)occurs in 24%-44%of tel.stroke *** We reviewed 270 suspected acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)patients who were eval.ated by tel.stroke and received IVtPA from 1 Jul. 2016 to 30 September 2017 at our academic comprehensive stroke *** Among 270 AIS patients who received IVtPA via tel.stroke,64(23.7%)were diagnosed with *** with patients who had a stroke,the SM group was younger(mean age 56.4 vs 68.2,pl.kel. to be femal.(60.9%vs 45.6%,p=0.0324)and had l.nger door-to needl. times(85.3 vs 69.9,p=0.0008).The most common SM diagnoses were migraine 26(40.6%),conversion disorder 12(18.8%),encephal.pathy 7(10.9%)and unmasking(9.4%).Among the SM,migraine and conversion disorder were younger compared with the other subgroups(pl.exam el.ments were noted more frequentl. in conversion disorder(66.7%)and migraine(34.6%),but rare in other diagnoses(p=0.006).Among the SM,23(35.9%)had a history of a prior simil.r episodes,and 15(23.4%)had a history of more than 5 *** In our tel.stroke programme,23.7%of those administered thrombol.sis had a final.diagnosis of SM.
