Characterization of Turkish Astragalus honeys according to their phenolic profiles and biological activities with a chemometric approach

The genus of Astragalus provides a significant source of pollen and nectar for *** this study,37 Astragalus honey samples in 8 different regions from Turkey were investigated for the phenolic compositions and antioxidant,antimicrobial,anti-quorum sensing,anti-inflammatory and enzyme inhibitory(urease,tyrosinase,butyrylcholinesterase(BChE),and acetylcholinesterase(AChE))activities with chemometric *** phenolic compounds and organic acids were detected using HPLC-DAD and levulinic,gallic,p-hydroxy benzoic,vanilic and p-coumaric acids were found to be common compounds in all studied Astragalus honey *** ET coded Astragalus honey sample from Erzurum showed the best antioxidant activity in DPPH^(•)(IC_(50):12.54±0.25 mg/mL),ABTS^(•+)(IC_(50):4.20±0.12 mg/mL)andβ-carotene linoleic acid(IC_(50):3.85±0.11 mg/mL)*** honey samples studied displayed moderate antimicrobial activity against Candida species,gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria while they showed high quorum sensing inhibition *** nB coded Astragalus honey sample from ni˘gde exhibited the highest anti-inflammatory activity against COX-1(76.11±0.80%)and COX-2(55.98±0.93%)*** studied Astragalus honey samples showed mild enzyme inhibitory activities against AChE,BChE,urease and *** chemometric characterization based on the botanical origin of Astragalus honey samples was determined using principal component analysis(PCA)and hierarchical cluster analysis(HCA).

Synthesis and antibacterial evaluation of 2-substituted-4,5-diphenyl-n-alkyl imidazole derivatives

Objective:To synthesis 2-substituted-4,5-diphenyl-n- alkyl imidazole derivatives,and evaluate their antibacterial ***:A mixture of benzil（10 mmol） and ammonium acetate（0.1 mol）（immediately fused） in glacial acetic acid（25 mL） was stirred at 80-100℃for 1 h under nitrogen atmosphere（to prevent incorporation of any atmospheric impurities and moisture）. Substituted aldehydes（10 mmol） in glacial acetic acid（5 mL） was added drop-wise over a period of 15-20 min at the same temperature and stirred for another 4 h,the progress of the reaction was monitored by TLC test using ethyl acetate as *** newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR,1HnMR,13CnMR and by mass ***:All the synthesized compounds were confirmed by spectroscopical techniques and evaluated for antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus（***）,Bacilus subtilus（***）,and Escheria coli （***）.These compounds showed antibacterial activity（zone of inhibition） against *** ranged from 3 mm to 9 mmin diameter,***,4 -8 mm,and *** 5 -12 *** of 2a-2e, only 2a and 2b showed some sort of activity but none of them had considerable activity compared with that of the ***:All the synthesized compounds show moderate activity against the tested bacteria ***,***,and ***,further structural modification is necessary to improve the antibacterial action of 2-substituted-4,5-diphenyl-n-alkyl imidazole derivatives.

Modelling Economic Order Quantities,Considering Buy and Repair Options for Defective Items,and Allowing for Shortages and Inspection Errors

nowadays,it is common for suppliers to be separated from their buyers by great *** means that,if some items in the lot turn out to be defective,the distance makes it uneconomical to order replacements from the original ***,both Type I and Type II errors may occur in the screening process for eliminating defective items and the combination of defective items and inspection errors may lead to *** with these assumptions,this paper develops two distinct *** the first model,defective items are repaired by a local repair shop subject to a repair charge and a mark-up *** the second model,a local supplier replaces the defective with good ones,but at a higher *** expected total profit per cycle is developed,together with the expected cycle time,and,employing the renewal reward theorem,the objective function is derived,from which the optimum values are obtained for the order and shortage *** paper presents numerical results and a discussion for both *** study finds that repairing defective items generally leads to greater total profit than purchasing local replacements.

Effects of melt spinning process parameters and wheel surface quality on production of 6060 aluminum alloy powders and ribbons

The aim of this study is to investigate the surface quality of the melt spinning wheel, which was changed from smooth type to textured structure, to atomize liquid metal to form powders. The effects of melt spinning process parameters like wheel speed, gas ejection pressure, molten metal temperature, nozzle–wheel gap and wheel surface quality on the morphological and microstructural features of 6060 aluminum alloy powders and ribbons were investigated. It was observed that ribbon type material was obtained with the smooth wheel and the powder was produced with textured type. The sizes of produced ribbons with smooth surface wheel varied in the range of 30-170 μm in thickness, 4-8 mm in width, and 0.5-1 m in length. The average powder size of the powders manufactured using the textured wheel was in the range of 161-274 μm, depending on the process *** the wheel speed, melt temperature and decreasing gas ejection pressure, nozzle-wheel gap resulted in the decrease of both ribbon thickness and powder size. The microstructures of the powders and ribbons were the equiaxed cellular type, and the average grain sizes diminished with decreasing the ribbon thickness and powder size. The maximum cooling rates were 2.00×10^5 and 1.26×10^4 k/s for the ribbon with thickness of 30 μm and for the powder with size of 87 μm, respectively.

The persistence and performance (growth promoting potential) of green fluorescent protein (gfp) marked Azotobacter chroococcum strain ABR 4G were studied in sterilized and unsterilized wheat rhizospheric soil. The gfp was integrated via Tn 5 transposition into A. chroococcum chromosome and the resultant gfp marked colonies were identified by green fluorescent emission under UV light. The gfp was stably maintained in A. chroococcum and the gfp insertion had no apparent adverse effect on the growth promoting properties of the marked soil isolate ABR 4G. The growth promoting properties (nitrogen fixation, ammonia excretion, phosphate solubilization and IAA production) of the parent soil isolate and the gfp marked strain were found to be almost the same. All the quantitative wheat plant traits were significantly influenced by inoculation of A. chroococcum ABR 4G strain in sterilized and unsterilized soil. Inoculated bacterial counts increased gradually in wheat rhizosphere, reached maximum on 60 th d and declined on 80 th d. Fertility levels also affected survival of marked strain and the survival was comparable in sterilized and unsterilized soil. Solution of the finite slab criticality problem using an alternative phase function with the second kind of Chebyshev polynomials

The critical size of a finite homogenous slab is investigated for one-speed neutrons using the alternative phase function(AG, Anli-Gungor) in place of the scattering function of the transport equation. First of all, the neutron angular flux expanded in terms of the Chebyshev polynomials of second kind(Un approximation) together with the AG phase function is applied to the transport equation to obtain a criticality condition for the ***, using various values of the scattering parameters, the numerical results for the critical half-thickness of the slab are calculated and they are tabulated in the tables together with the ones obtained from the conventional spherical harmonic(Pn) method for comparison. They can be said to be in good accordance with each other.

Clindamycin-induced acute cholestatic hepatitis

We report a case of acute hepatotoxicity in a 42-yearold woman after administration of clindamycin for a dental infection. After 6 d of treatment, she had fatigue, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, pruritus and jaundice. Her laboratory analysis showed alanine aminotransferase （ALT）, 1795 IU/L （normal range 0-40）; aspartate aminotransferase （AST）, 1337 IU/L （normal range 5-34）; alkaline phosphatase （ALP）, 339 IU/L （normal range 40-150）; 7-glutamyl transpeptidase （GGT）, 148 IU/L （normal range 9-64 IU/L）; total bilirubin, 4.1 mg/dL; direct bilirubin, 2.9 mg/dL and prothrombin time （PT）, 13.5 s, with international normalized ratio （InR）, 1.04. She was hospitalized, with immediate drug discontinuation. Her liver biopsy specimen showed mixed-type （both hepatocellular and cholestatic） hepatic injury, compatible with a diagnosis of drug-induced hepatitis. An objective causality assessment using the naranjo probability scale suggested that clindamycin was the probable cause of the acute hepatitis. In susceptible individuals, clindamycin use may lead to acute mixedtype liver toxicity. Complete recovery may be possible if the drug is discontinued before severe liver injury is established.

Morinda citrifolia L. (noni) and memantine attenuate periventricular tissue injury of the fourth ventricle in hydrocephalic rabbits

This study was designed to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of Morinda citrifofia L. （Rubiaceae） commonly known as noni, and memantine （a n-methy-D-aspartate receptor inhibitor） on hydrocephalus-induced neurodegenerative disorders. kaolin was injected into the cistern magna of male adult new Zealand rabbits to establish a hydrocephalus animal model. Memantine （20 mg/kg, intraperitoneally; memantine-treated group） or noni （5 mL/kg, intragastrically; noni-treated group） was administered daily for 2 weeks. Microtubule-associated protein-2 and caspase-3 immunohistochemistry were performed to detect neuronal degeneration and apoptosis in the periventricular tissue of the fourth ventricle of rabbits. Microtubule-associated protein-2 staining density was significantly decreased in the hydrocephalic group, while the staining density was significantly increased in the memantine- and noni-treated groups, especially in the noni-treated group. noni treatment decreased the number of caspase-3-positive cells in rabbits with hydrocephalus, while memantine had no effect. These findings suggest that noni exhibits more obvious inhibitory effects on hydrocephalus-induced neurodegenerative disorders than memantine in periventricular tissue of the fourth ventricle.

Schiff base ligand （HL） derived from 4-hexylaniline with isatin （1H-indole-2,3-dione） and its complexes with Cu（Ⅱ）, ni（Ⅱ） were prepared and characterized by analytical, spectroscopic （IR, UV-Vis, Mass） techniques, electrical conductivity, magnetic and thermal measurements. The crystal and molecular structure of [Cu（HL）2Cl2] was determined by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. The molecular structure of the title compound has an inversion center on the Cu atom.
