Efficacy and dose response of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum in diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome

Applying SEM-EdX and XRd Techniques to demonstrate the Overgrowth of Atmospheric Soot and Its Coalescence with Crystal Silicate Particles in delhi

Scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EdX) and X-ray diffraction (XRd) systems were used to demonstrate the overgrowth of soot to fractal like structure and its subsequent coalescence with crystal shaped silicate particles. Sample was obtained from a very clean area of delhi at a height of 16 m from ground with the help of a five stage cascade impactor in the winters of 2006. Impactor collects particles in five different size ranges (i.e. ≥10.9, 10.9 - 5.4, 5.4 - 1.6, 1.6 - 0.7 and ≤0.7 μm). In the present investigation only the particles collected in the size range 1.6 - 0.7 μm (d50 = 0.980 μm) have been considered. It has clearly been observed that the soot particles tend to grow or rather agglomerate in a fractal like structure. during this process they incorporate other chemically and structurally different particles (crystal silicate in the present investigation) to make multi phase and multi chemical amorphous aggregates. These aggregates are formed during/after its collection on the sampling substrate and may be as many as hundred times more than the expected size interval (d50 or cut off range).

Tropical cyclone track and intensity prediction skill of GFS model over NIO during 2019&2020

The Tropical Cyclone(TC)track prediction using different NWP models and its verification is the critical task to provide prior knowledge about the model errors,which is beneficial for giving the model guidance-based real-time cyclone warning *** study has attempted to verify the Global Forecast System(GFS)model forecasted tropical cyclone track and intensity over the North Indian Ocean(NIO)for the years 2019 and *** is one of the operational models in the India Meteorological department(IMd),which provides the medium-range weather forecast up to 10 *** forecasted tracks from the GFS forecast are obtained using a vortex tracker developed by Geophysical Fluid dynamics Laboratory(GFdL).A total of 13 tropical cyclones formed over the North Indian Ocean,eight during 2019 and five in 2020 have been considered in this *** accuracy of the model predicted tracks and intensity is verified for five days forecasts(120 h)at 6-h intervals;the track errors are verified in terms of direct Position Error(dPE),Along Track Error(ATE)and Cross-Track Error(CTE).The annual mean dPE over NIO during 2019(51–331 km)is lower than 2020(82–359 km),and the dPE is less than 150 km up to 66 h during 2019 and 48 h during *** positive ATE(76–332 km)indicates the predicted track movement is faster than the observed track during both *** positive CTE values for most forecast lead times suggest that the predicted track is towards the right side of the observed track during both *** cyclone Intensity forecast for the maximum sustained wind speed(Max WS)and central mean sea level pressure(MSLP)are verified in terms of mean error(ME)and root mean square error(RMSE).The errors are lead time ***,most of the time model under-predicted the cyclone intensity during both ***,there is a significant variance in track and intensity errors from the cyclone to cyclone and Bay of Bengal basin to the Arabian Sea basin.

Corneal epithelial defects following vitreoretinal surgery:incidence and outcomes from the dISCOVER study

Fuzzy Logic Based Power Flow Control Analysis of Advanced Unified Power Flow Controller

due to rapidly development of high power semiconductor devices with fast control features have made possible to control the power flow more efficiently and effectively. The Flexible AC Transmission Systems （FACTS） in this category introduces several innovative operating control devices. One of the recent devices is Advanced Unified Power Flow Controller （AUPFC） or multi-converter UPFC, which can control bus voltage and real and reactive power flows of more than one line or even a sub-network. This paper presents performance analysis of AUPFC based on d-q axis model theory. Based on the analysis, a new fuzzy logic rules based control algorithm has been developed in this paper which improves the system performance. The control rules are structured depending upon the relationship between series inserted voltages in multi-line and the desired changes of real and reactive power flows in the control network. The impacts of different controllers along with parameters of series connected transformers and transmission lines have been investigated through developed control block models in SIMULINk. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by a case study.

Morphological Changes and Antioxidant Activity of <i>Stevia rebaudiana</i>under Water Stress

Stevia rebaudiana, a herbaceous perennial shrub contains steviol glycosides, as an alternative source of sugar for diabetic patients. Water being an integral part plays a vital role in the maintenance of plant life. Availability of water is one of the limiting factors determining plant distribution and survival in natural ecosystem. The objective of this study was to investigate the ability of tolerance of Stevia plants to water stress. Potted plants of Stevia were subjected to different levels of water regimes (100 ml, 200 ml, 300 ml) per day, whereas control plants were watered daily with about 400 ml water. Plant height, leaf area, electrolyte leakage and antioxidant enzyme activity (peroxidase and catalase) were assayed during the experimental period. All these parameters were severely affected under water stress condition. Stress treatment caused an increase in electrolyte leakage compared to control. Plant height decreased under severe stress condition whereas a sharp increase in antioxidant enzyme activity was observed in stressed plants as compared to untreated control plants. Our experiment emphasizes the importance of proper watering schedule for the cultivation of Stevia as an agricultural crop to meet the challenges for sugar and energy crisis.

Calculations of point defect energetics with density Functional Theory(dFT)can provide valuable insight into several optoelectronic,thermodynamic,and kinetic *** calculations commonly use methods ranging from semi-local functionals with a-posteriori corrections to more computationally intensive hybrid functional *** applications of dFT-based high-throughput computation for data-driven materials discovery,point defect properties are of interest,yet are currently excluded from available materials *** work presents a benchmark analysis of automated,semi-local point defect calculations with a-posteriori corrections,compared to 245“gold standard”hybrid calculations previously *** consider three different a-posteriori correction sets implemented in an automated workflow,and evaluate the qualitative and quantitative differences among four different categories of defect information:thermodynamic transition levels,formation energies,Fermi levels,and dopability *** highlight qualitative information that can be extracted from high-throughput calculations based on semi-local dFT methods,while also demonstrating the limits of quantitative accuracy.

Molecular cloning and characterization of two differentially expressed Cellulose synthase gene isoforms in <i>Leucaena leucocephala</i>: A pulp yielding tree species

Leucaena leucocephala is fast growing leguminous tree species, acclimatized to variety of soil and climatic conditions. It is widely used for pulp production in India. Pulp mainly consists of cellulose, which is a simple polymer of unbranched β-1, 4-linked glucan chains. The polymerization of glucose residues into a β-1, 4-linked backbone is catalysed by the enzyme cellulose synthase (CesA). Here, cdNAs encoding CesA genes from Leucaena were isolated and characterized. The two complete cdNAs of 3.228 kb and 3.222 kb encoding CesA gene from L. leucocephala were designated as Ll-7CesA (FJ871987) and Ll-8CesA (GQ267555) respectively. In-silico studies showed that Ll-7CesA has 95.2% identities and Ll- 8CesA has 95.8% identities with Acacia mangium CesA2. Phylogenetic analysis revealed significant similarity with known dicot CesA genes. The deduced amino acid sequence of both CesA genes contained the conserved d, d, d, QxxRW motif, eight membrane spanning regions and a putative zinc binding domain, which are characteristic of glycosyltransferases. dNA blot analysis suggested, CesA gene to be in multiple copies in Leucaena genome. Semi quantitative and quantitative real-time PCR expression analysis of Ll-7CesA gene showed more expression in stem than leaf and not detected in root where as Ll-8CesA gene was expressed more in stem than leaf and root. Overall Ll-8CesA was expressed in all tested tissues and could be involved in active cellulose biosynthesis.

degradation of Lindane (γ-HCH) in a Mollisol as Effected by different Soil Amendments

Soil amendments play an important role in management of pesticide residues. In this study, incubation experiment was conducted using the surface (0 - 15 cm) sample of a mollisol supplied with different soil amendments (farmyard manure, cow-dung slurry, pyrite and gypsum) to investigate the effect of amendments on the dissipation of lindane in mollisols. dissipation of lindane in soil was studied at eight consecutive samplings (0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 d). The results indicated that soil amendments could promote the degradation of lindane in soil. After 30 d of incubation 79% degradation was observed in the untreated soil (without any amendment) whereas, in the case of farmyard manure and cow-dung slurry amended soils, 83% and 91% degradation was observed, respectively. The pyrite and gypsum amendments also enhanced the degradation of lindane in soils, but the effect was less pronounced as compared to the organic amendments. Enhanced degradation in soil treated with organic amendments could be attributed to stimulated microbial activity after the addition of organic amendments. These addition, under different soil management conditions, minimize the persistence of lindane and consequently the risk of leaching and seepage into aquifers.
