Efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for initially resectable colorectal liver metastases:A retrospective cohort study

BACkGROUND The liver is the most common metastatic site of colorectal *** is the mainstay of treatment for patients with colorectal liver metastases(CRLMs).However,there are cases of early recurrence after upfront hepatectomy *** selected high-risk patients,neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC)may improve longterm *** To determine the efficacy of NAC for initially resectable *** Among 644 patients who underwent their first hepatectomy for CRLMs at our institution,297 resectable cases were stratified into an upfront hepatectomy group(238 patients)and a NAC group(59 patients).Poor prognostic factors for upfront hepatectomy were identified using multivariate logistic regression *** score matching was used to compare clinical outcomes between the upfront hepatectomy and NAC groups,according to the number of poor prognostic *** curves were estimated using the kaplan-Meier method and compared using the log-rank *** Preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen levels(≥10 ng/mL)(P=0.003),primary histological type(other than well/moderately differentiated)(P=0.04),and primary lymph node metastases(≥1)(P=0.04)were identified as independent poor prognostic factors for overall survival(OS)in the upfront hepatectomy ***-risk status was defined as the presence of two or more risk *** propensity score matching,50 patients were matched in each *** high-risk patients,the 5-year OS rate was significantly higher in the NAC group(13 patients)than in the upfront hepatectomy group(18 patients)(100%vs 34%;P=0.02).CONCLUSION NAC may improve the prognosis of high-risk patients with resectable CRLMs who have two or more risk factors.

FEM analysis for hot rolling process of AM60 alloy

The rolling of AM60 sheets for 50%reduction was analyzed with DEFORM to investigate the hot deformation process. The simulated results show that the sheet velocities at the entrance(21 mm/s) and at the exit(37 mm/s) are less and larger than roll velocity,*** the entrance to the neutral point,the velocity at the sheet surface is greater than that at the middle point of sheet in thickness,while that from the neutral point to the exit shows the opposite *** effective strain of the sheet increases from the entrance to the exit due to the continuous reduction in *** addition,the effective strain at the sheet surface reaches to 1.0 and is larger than that of 0.8 at the middle point of *** difference of effective strain in thickness direction has a much stronger effect on the recrystallized fraction than on the recrystallized grain *** minimum temperature of 347℃is obtained at the surface contacting directly with roll and the maximum temperature 388℃at the middle point of sheet in thickness.

Automatic registration of MLS point clouds and SfM meshes of urban area

Recent advances in 3D scanning technologies allow us to acquire accurate and dense 3D scan data of large-scale environments ***,there are various methods for acquiring largescale 3D scan data,such as Mobile Laser Scanning(MLS),Airborne Laser Scanning,Terrestrial Laser Scanning,photogrammetry and Structure from Motion(SfM).Especially,MLS is useful to acquire dense point clouds of road and road-side objects,and SfM is a powerful technique to reconstruct meshes with textures from a set of digital *** this research,a registration method of point clouds from vehicle-based MLS(MLS point cloud),and textured meshes from the SfM of aerial photographs(SfM mesh),is proposed for creating high-quality surface models of urban areas by combining *** general,SfM mesh has non-scale information;therefore,scale,position,and orientation of the SfM mesh are adjusted in the registration *** our method,first,2D feature points are extracted from both SfM mesh and MLS point *** process consists of ground-and building-plane extraction by region growing,random sample consensus and least square method,vertical edge extraction by detecting intersections between the planes,and feature point extraction by intersection tests between the ground plane and the ***,the corresponding feature points between the MLS point cloud and the SfM mesh are searched efficiently,using similarity invariant features and ***,the coordinate transformation is applied to the SfM mesh so that the ground planes and corresponding feature points are ***,scaling Iterative Closest Point algorithm is applied for accurate *** results for three data-sets show that our method is effective for the registration of SfM mesh and MLS point cloud of urban areas including buildings.
