This paper aims to investigate the changes in the virtual perception on the built heritage at the traditional core setttement of k.mbak.nam Town at Tamitnadu and to analyze their implica- tions. Specifically, the major objectives of the study are （1） to identify the architectural elements that manifest the built heritage of k.mbak.nam Town and （2） to assess the contMbutions of these elements to the changes in the visuat perception of the town. To achieve these objectives, this study adopts an empirical model that analyzes the architectural elements of the buildings in the study area. Direct observations and documentations of 373 buildings are collected to analyze those etements that contribute to the changes in the visual perception on the built heritage of k.mbak.nam Town. An ordinary regression model is used to examine the characteristics of the built heritage across the chariot processional route of the town. Several architectural elements, including pitasters, horizontal cornices, arched windows, and ornamental parapets, improve the image of the town. These empirical findings support the policy framework.that enhances the visual perception of k.mbak.nam Town.

过去几十年来, 可持续性理念已经成为旅游各个方面的主导力量。文化是其中广受学者与业者关注的特殊领域。基于社区的文化或遗产旅游一直受到诸多内部与外部因素的影响。随着可持续理念的引介, 我们得以开始思考遗产或文化活动的持续性和为子孙后代保护这些遗产或文化活动的内在架构。给定可持续性原则与文化演化之间的边界, 一个隐含的逻辑将浮出水面, 即所有给定的事情、活态文化实践都应在限定社区参与范围内被“博物馆化”。其中, 社区参与是为了使东道社区在为旅游者表述其遗产与为其营生增加收入之间实现良好的平衡, 并能得到适当的管理。

AIMS: Sulfated polysaccharide extracted from the brown algae Sargassum swartzii was studied for antioxidant potential. METHODS: The extracted sulfated polysaccharide was analyzed for physico-chemical characteristics, TAC, reducing power, free radical scavenging potentials (DPPH, ABTS, H2O2 radical) and antibacterial properties. RESULTS: The extract showed a high percentage of carbohydrate (7.40 ± 0.63) %, followed by sulfate (5.3 ± 1.54) %. The highest antioxidant activity was observed in ABTS (55 ± 3.61) %, followed by H2O2 (47.23 ± 2.81) % and DPPH (25.33 ± 2.52) %; significant differences were observed at (P ≥ 0.05). Among the ten human pathogenic strains tested, E. coli was the more sensitive. The characterization and mobility of the sulfated polysaccharide was examined by the FT-IR spectrum and assayed by agarose gel electrophoresis which showed highest mobility at higher pH buffer in carbonate-bicarbonate (pH 10) buffer. The molecular weight of the sulfated polysaccharide was determined by gradient PAGE and was found to be 50 k.a. Finally, GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of peak. corresponding to dimethyl-4-nitroaniline (26.34%). CONCLUSIONS: It is suggested that the sulfated polysaccharide from Sargassum swartzii could be a better source of natural antioxidant, as well as an antibacterial agent.

Objective:In vitro antioxidant activities of three selected Indian seaweeds viz.,Halimeda tuna(H.tuna),Turbinaria conoides(T.conoides) and Gracilaria foliifera(G.foliifera) were evaluated.Methods:Total antioxidant activity,total phenolic content,and reducing power of crude methanol and diethyl ether extracts were determined.Results:Total phenolic content and total antioxidant activity were higher(1.231±0.173 mg GAE/g,1.675±0.361 mg GAE/g) in T.conoides respectively.Reducing power of crude methanol extract increased with concentrations of the extract.The Fourier transform-infra red spectrum analysis revealed the presence of polyphenolic signals.The seaweed extracts displayed moderate antioxidant activity compared to gallic acid standard.Conclusions:The seaweeds could be considered for curing diseases from oxidative deteriorations.
