Defect-mediated energy transfer is an energy transfer process between midgap electronic states in a semiconductor nanocrystal(NC)and molecular acceptors,such as fluorescent dye ***-resolution fluorescence microscopy represents an exciting technique for pinpointing the nanoscale positions of lattice defect sites in,for example,a micrometer-sized particle or thin film sample by spatially resolving the location of the acceptor dye molecules with nanometer *** this goal,our group performed ensemble-level,time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy measure-ments of ZnO NC/Alexafluor 555(A555)mixtures and calculated that the emissive defect sites are located,on average,0.5 nm from the NC surface[Nilsson,Z.N.;et ***.2021,154(5),054704].However,ensemble-level measurements cannot spatially resolve the defect sites on single particles,nor can they distinguish between surface-adsorbed dye molecules that participate in the energy transfer(Ent)process from those that do *** this work,we compared the photoluminescence intensity trajectories of 789 isolated,single ZnO NC donors to those of 73 non-specifically bound and five specifically bound ZnO NC/A555 pairs,where the donor and acceptor centroid positions were separated by a distance that was smaller than our localization precision(40 nm).We observed minor fluorescence intensity fluctuations in the donor and defect channels instead of clear anticorrelated intensity fluctuations,which could be explained by(1)the presence of multiple emissive defect sites per NC,(2)donor-acceptor separation distances slightly larger than the Förster radius(R_(0)=3.1 nm;defined as the distance at which Ent is 50%efficient),and/or(3)poor dipole-dipole *** single molecule imaging methodology we developed,an alternating ultraviolet-visible excitation sequence combined with multicolor photon detection,successfully distinguishes specifically bound and non-specifically bound NC/dye pairs and can be applied to

Given a collection of parameterized multi-robot controllers associated with individual behaviors designed for particular tasks,this paper considers the problem of how to sequence and instantiate the behaviors for the purpose of completing a more complex,overarching *** addition,uncertainties about the environment or even the mission specifcations may require the robots to learn,in a cooperative manner,how best to sequence the *** this paper,we approach this problem by using reinforcement learning to approximate the solution to the computationally intractable sequencing problem,combined with an online gradient descent approach to selecting the individual behavior parameters,while the transitions among behaviors are triggered automatically when the behaviors have reached a desired performance level relative to a task performance *** illustrate the efectiveness of the proposed method,it is implemented on a team of diferential-drive robots for solving two diferent missions,namely,convoy protection and object manipulation.

Development of a facile block copolymer method for creating hard mask patterns integrated into semiconductor manufacturing

Our goal is to develop a facile process to create patterns of inorganic oxides and metals on a substrate that can act as hard masks. these materials should have high etch contrast （compared to silicon） and so allow high-aspect-ratio, high- fidelity pattern transfer whilst being readily integrable in modem semiconductor fabrication （FAB friendly）. Here, we show that ultra-small-dimension hard masks can be used to develop large areas of densely packed vertically and horizontally orientated Si nanowire arrays. the inorganic and metal hard masks （Ni, NiO, and ZnO） of different morphologies and dimensions were formed using microphase- separated polystyrene-b-poly（ethylene oxide）（PS-b-PEO） block copolymer （BCP） thin films by varying the BCP molecular weight, annealing temperature, and annealing solvent（s）. the self-assembled polymer patterns were solvent-processed, and metal ions were included into chosen domains via a selective inclusion method. Inorganic oxide nanopatterns were subsequently developed using standard techniques. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy studies show that high-aspect-ratio pattern transfer could be affected by standard plasma etch techniques. the masking ability of the different materials was compared in order to create the highest quality uniform and smooth sidewall profiles of the Si nanowire arrays. Notably good performance of the metal mask was seen, and this could impact the use of these materials at small dimensions where conventional methods are severely limited.

Objective:to evaluate antibacterial activity of hot and cold ethanol and methanol leaf extracts of Ricinus communis L(***)against Staphylococcus aureus(***)(NCtC 6571)and Escherichia coli(***)(AtCC 25922).Methods:Leaf powder of *** *** extracted with hot(in Soxhlet)and cold ethanol and methanol,*** antibacterial activity of the extracts was determined by agar well diffusion and macro broth dilution *** extracts were also subjected to phytochemical ***:All the four test extracts showed inhibition on both *** and *** and cold ethanol extracts revealed significantly(Ption on *** than methanol extracts,and the hot ethanol extract had the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)and minimum bactericidal concentration(MBC)values(5 mg/mL and 10 mg/mL,respectively).*** was highly inhibited by hot extracts of both ethanol and methanol with the MIC and MBC of 40 mg/mL and 80 mg/mL,*** analysis revealed the presence of saponins,cardiac glycosides,tannins,flavonoids and terpenoids in all test ***:this study demonstrates that the hot and cold methanol and ethanol extracts are potential sources for control of *** and ***,the hot and cold extracts of ethanol are more inhibitive against *** even at lower *** study is needed to identify the specific bioactive compounds,their mode of action and their nontoxic nature in vivo condition.

A 12-week feeding trial with juvenile red drum(Sciaenops ocellatus) fed high-soybean meal(SBM) diets was conducted to investigate a putative biomarker of nutritional imbalance, N-formimino-L-glutamate(FIGLU). three fishmeal-free, 60% SBM pelleted diets(named B12, Fol, and Met, respectively) were tested to evaluate the effects on growth performance and tissue metabolite profiles of supplementation of vitamin B12(0.012 mg/kg), folate(10 mg/kg), methionine(1 g/kg) respectively, above basal supplementation levels. A fourth SBM-based diet(named B12/Fol/Met) was formulated with a combination of B12, folate, and methionine to attain the above-mentioned target concentrations. A fifth 60% SBM diet(named FWS) with methionine supplementation(1 g/kg above basal supplementation levels), enriched with taurine, lysine and threonine as well as minerals, was also tested. this diet contained formulation targets and additives which have allowed for replacing fishmeal with plant proteins in rainbow trout feeds. Control diets included a fishmeal-based diet(named FM), an unsupplemented basal 60% SBM diet(named SBM60), and a “natural” diet(named N) made up of equal parts of fish(cigar minnows), squid and shrimp as a positive reference for growth performance. Formulated feeds contained approximately 37% total crude protein, approximately 14% total crude lipid and were energetically balanced. Standard growth performance metrics were measured, and tissues(liver, muscle) were collected at week 12 to evaluate diet-induced metabolic changes using nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)-based *** results show that the FWS diet outperformed all other SBM diets and the FM diet under all performance metrics(Pt detected in fish fed the N diet but was detected in those fed the SBM diets and the FM diet. Water quality sondes have the advantage of containing multiple sensors,extended deployment times,high temporal resolution,and telecommunication with stakeholder accessible data ***,sondes that are part of buoy deployments often suffer from typically being fixed at one *** water treatment plants are interested in water quality at a depth of the water intake and other stakeholders(*** and swimmers)are interested in the surface,we examined whether a fixed depth of approximately 1 m could cause over-or under-estimation of cyanobacterial *** sampled the vertical distribution of cyanobacteria adjacent to a water quality sonde buoy in the western basin of Lake Erie during the summers of 2015–2017.A comparison of buoy cyanobacteria RFU(Relative Fluorescence Unit)at 1 m to cyanobacteria chlorophyll a(chla)measured throughout the water column showed occurrences when the buoy both under and overestimated the cyanobacteria chl a at specific *** differences between buoy measurements and at-depth grab samples occurred during low wind speeds(teria to accumulate at the surface above the buoy’s *** wind speeds(>4.5 m/sec)resulted in better agreement between the buoy and at-depth *** wind speeds 12 hr before sample collection decreased the difference between the buoy and at-depth samples for high wind speeds but not low *** suggest that sondes should be placed at a depth of interest for the appropriate stakeholder group or deploy sondes with the ability to sample at various depths.
