Manganese is ubiquitous in terrestrial environments and most studies have focused on dissolution of Mn oxides,but aluminosilicates also release ***,we evaluated oxic Mn dissolution from six rocks and minerals(amphibolite,anorthosite,kaolinite,kyanite,muscovite,orthoclase feldspar) and soils from four Critical Zone Observatories(CZOs) under four LMWOLs treatments(catechol,citric acid,oxalic acid,control).Overall rock and mineral Mn mass-normalized release was 1.4 ± 0.5 nM μM^(-1) 14 d^(-1) and dissolution rate was 2403 ± 935 nM m^(-2) d^(-1) x 10^(3).Overall CZO soil Mn release was 16.7±5.1 nM μM^(-1) 14 d^(-1) and dissolution rate was 7010 ± 2570 nM m^(-2) d^(-1) × 10^(3).Anorthosite and kyanite had the highest Mn dissolution rates but kaolinite and kyanite had the highest Mn mass-normalized release *** hypothesize the structural location of Mn,surface area,and potential inclusions of highly-weatherable-phases control Mn dissolution for rocks and *** soils with the highest solid phase Mn had the highest Mn release and dissolution *** acid and catechol had higher Mn release and dissolution rates than the control while oxalic acid did *** rocks and minerals,we found pH 4 had higher Mn release and dissolution rates than pH6,but not for control treatments without *** study highlights that the abundance of Mn drove Mn release in soils but not rocks and ***,LMWOLs are important for Mn dissolution,even under acidic pH conditions.

Under the assumption that the underlying measure is a non-negative Radon measure which only satisfies some growth condition and may not be doubling, we define the product of functions in the regular bMO and the atomic block -~1 in the sense of distribution, and show that this product may be split into two parts, one in L1 and the other in some Hardy-Orlicz space.

A(very)brief history of tension in nerve repair:Successful nerve repair is achieved by conveying as many axons successfully to their targets as ***,this is best achieved through a direct end-to-end repair under minimal tension(Millesi,1986).However,this is not feasible in most cases of trauma,where a segment of tissue damage must be excised and *** has most commonly been addressed with the use of nerve grafts to bridge the *** nerve grafts are considered the gold standard,with allograft or synthetic substitutes demonstrating some success over shorter *** their utility,autologous grafts pose challenges of their *** include functional deficit in the donor distribution(typically sensory),extended operative duration,additional scarring,and a lack of intrinsic blood *** are also a poor anatomical match for the stumps being bridged,both internally(disparate neuronal size and composition)as well as externally(often requiring cabled bundles to approximate the caliber of the nerve being repaired).Finally,unlike end-to-end repairs,autologous grafts also require axons to traverse a second repair interface,where a large proportion of axons are lost across the anatomical discontinuity.

Iodine containing disinfection by-products（I-DbPs） and haloacetaldehydes（HALs） are emerging disinfection by-product（DbP） classes of concern. The former due to its increased potential toxicity and the latter because it was found to be the third most relevant DbP class in mass in a U.S. nationwide drinking water study. These DbP classes have been scarcely investigated, and this work was performed to further explore their formation in drinking water under chlorination and chloramination scenarios. In order to do this, iodo-trihalomethanes（I-THMs）,iodo-haloacetic acids（I-HAAs） and selected HALs（mono-HALs and di-HALs species, including iodoacetaldehyde） were investigated in DbP mixtures generated after chlorination and chloramination of different water matrices containing different levels of bromide and iodide in laboratory controlled reactions. Results confirmed the enhancement of I-DbP formation in the presence of monochloramine. While I-THMs and I-HAAs contributed almost equally to total I-DbP concentrations in chlorinated water, I-THMs contributed the most to total I-DbP levels in the case of chloraminated water. The most abundant and common I-THM species generated were bromochloroiodomethane, dichloroiodomethane, and chlorodiiodomethane. Iodoacetic acid and chloroiodoacetic acid contributed the most to the total I-HAA concentrations measured in the investigated disinfected water. As for the studied HALs, dihalogenated species were the compounds that predominantly formed under both investigated treatments.

bACKGROUND:A reliable model of fulminant liver failure (FLF) is urgently required in this research *** study aimed to develop a murine FLF ***:We used three groups of male C57bL/6 mice:control,with azoxymethane treatment (AOM group),and with galactosamine and tumor necrosis factor-alpha treatment (Gal+TNF-α group).The effects of body temperature (bT) control on survival in all three groups were investigated Using bT control,we compared the survival,histopathological findings and biochemical/coagulation profiles between the two experimental *** effects of hydration on international normalized ratios of prothrombin time (PT INRs) were also ***-dependent survival curves were constructed for both experimental *** behavior was assessed using a coma ***:No unexpected bT effects were seen in the control *** AOM group,but not the Gal+TNF-α group showed a significant difference in survival curves between those with and without bT *** assessment showed consistent FLF findings in both experimental groups with bT *** were significant differences between the experimental groups in aspartate aminotransferase levels and PT-INRs,and significant differences in PT-INRs between the sufficiently and insufficiently hydrated *** were significant differences between FLF models in the duration of each coma stage,with significant differences in stages 1 and 3 as percentages of the disease state (stages 1-4).The two FLF models with bT care showed different survival curves in the dose-dependent survival ***:AOM provides a good FLF model,but requires a specialized environment and careful bT *** FLF models may also be useful,depending on the research *** attention to caregiving and close observation are indispensable for successful FLF models.

Objective: To report a mathematical function that characterizes the double-pass line spread function (LSF) of the human eye. Determining analytical functions that represent the double-pass LSF is important because it allows modeling the optical performance of the eye. Methods: Optical section retinal images, generated in normal human eyes using a modified slit-lamp biomicroscope, were analyzed to derive the double-pass LSF by plotting the intensity distribution of laser light reflected/ scattered from the vitreoretinal interface. Three mathematical functions (Lorentzian, Gaussian, exponential) were fitted to the double-pass LSF and the root mean square error (RMSE) was calculated to provide a measure of the goodness of fit. Results: The Lorentzian function provided the best representation of the double-pass LSF of normal human eyes. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the Lorentzian fitted curve was positively correlated with age, indicating that the double-pass LSF broadens with age. Furthermore, the goodness of fit of the Lorentzian function was significantly better in younger subjects as compared with older subjects, suggesting that the fitted function to the double-pass LSF may vary according to age. Conclusion: The results demonstrate an age-related change in the double-pass LSF width and the goodness of fit of the Lorentzian function.
