Pseudomonas otitidis WL-13, which has a high capacity to decolorize triphenylmethane dyes, was isolated from activated sludge obtained from a wastewater treatment plant of a dyeing industry. This strain exhibited a remarkable color-removal capability when tested against several triphenylmethane dyes under both shaking and static conditions at high concentrations of dyes. More than 95% of Malachite Green and Brilliant Green was removed within 12 h at 500 μmol/L dye concentration under shaking conditions. Crystal Violet lost about 13% of its color under the same conditions tested. The rate of decolorization increased when the M9 medium was supplemented with yeast extract. The optimum pH and temperature for color removal were 7-9 and 35-40℃, respectively. The observed changes in the visible spectra and the inspection of bacterial growth indicated the color-removal by the adsorption of dye to the cells during incubation with strains.

Spontaneous rupture of the liver is a rare condition with serious consequences,if not recognized and treated in time. It has been reported as a complication of several disorders,including benign or malignant liver tumors,connective tissue disease,infiltrating liver disease,preeclampsia,and post anticoagulant therapy. We report a case of spontaneous rupture of liver in a non-cirrhotic,chronic hepatitis B and D patient presenting with acute hemoperitoneum and shock. The subcapsular hematoma and rupture of liver were documented by image studies. The patients' condition gradually stabilized after fluid resuscitation. The reported case and literature review suggest that spontaneous rupture of liver must be considered in a differential diagnosis of acute hemoperitoneum. A high index of suspicion and early diagnosis with imaging are critically important.

The Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011 released large amounts of radionuclides, including ^（137）Cs, into the Pacific Ocean. A quasi-global ocean radioactive transport model with horizontal grid spacing of 0.5°×0.5° and 21 vertical layers was thereafter established to study the long-term transport of the Fukushima-derived ^（137）Cs in the *** simulation shows that the plume of ^（137）Cs would be rapidly transported eastward alongside the Kuroshio Current and its extensions. Contaminated waters with concentrations lower than 2 Bq/m3 would reach the west coast of North America 4 or 5 years after the accident. The ^（137）Cs tends to be carried, despite its very low concentration, into the Indian and South Pacific Oceans by 2016 via various branches of ocean ***, the ^（137）Cs concentrations in the western part of the North Pacific Ocean decrease rapidly with time. Up to now the highly contaminated waters have remained in the upper 400 m, showing no evidence of significant penetration to deeper layers.

Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) is a systemic vasculitis of the small vessels of the skin, joints, GI tract, and kidney. It preferentially affects children but may also occur in adults. We report a 60-year-old man with HSP who presented with colicky abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea, arthralgia, and skin rash. The gastrointestinal tract was viewed by upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. We found characteristic endoscopic findings in the stomach, cecum and sigmoid colon, the combination of which has rarely been demonstrated in one patient. Histologic examination of skin biopsy specimens revealed leukocytoclastic vasculitis with positive staining for IgA in the capillaries. Endoscopy appears to have substantial diagnostic utility in patients suspected of having HSP, especially when abdominal symptoms precede the cutaneous lesions.

BACKGROUND The mainstay of treating nonfunctioning-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors(NFPNETs)is surgical ***,minimally invasive approaches to pancreatic resection for treating NF-PNETs are not widely accepted,and the longterm oncological outcomes of such approaches remain *** To determine the short-and long-term outcomes of minimally invasive pancreatic resection conducted in patients with *** Prospective databases from Severance Hospital were searched for 110 patients who underwent curative resection for NF-PNETs between January 2003 and August *** The proportion of minimally invasive surgery(MIS)procedures performed for NF-PNET increased to more than 75%after *** was no significant difference in post-operative complications(P=0.654),including pancreatic fistula(P=0.890)and delayed gastric emptying(P=0.652),between MIS and open *** statistically significant difference was found in disease-free survival between the open approach group and the MIS group(median follow-up period,28.1 mo;P=0.428).In addition,the surgical approach(MIS vs open)was not found to be an independent prognostic factor in treating NF-PNET patients[Exp(β)=1.062;P=0.929].CONCLUSION Regardless of the type of surgery,a minimally invasive approach can be safe and feasible for select NF-PNET patients.

In general, the orientation interpolation of industrial robots has been done based on Euler angle system which can result in singular point （so-called Gimbal Lock）. However, quaternion interpolation has the advantage of natural （specifically smooth） orientation interpolation without Gimbal Lock. This work presents the application of quatemion interpolation, specifically Spherical Linear IntERPolation （SLERP）, to the orientation control of the 6-axis articulated robot （RS2） using LabVIEW and RecurDyn. For the comparison of SLERP with linear Euler interpolation in the view of smooth movement （profile） of joint angles （torques）, the two methods are dynamically simulated on RS2 by using both LabVIEW and RecurDyn. Finally, our original work, specifically the implementation of SLERP and linear Euler interpolation on the actual robot, i.e. RS2, is done using LabVIEW motion control tool kit. The SLERP orientation control is shown to be effective in terms of smooth joint motion and torque when compared to a conventional （linear） Euler interpolation.

Aims Ubiquitous thermal acclimation of leaf respiration could mitigate the respiration ***,whether species of different plant functional groups showing distinct or similar acclimation justifies the simple prediction of respiratory carbon(C)loss to a warming *** In this study,leaf dark respiration(Rd)of illinois bundleflower(IB,legume),stiff goldenrod(GR,C_(3) forbs),indian grass,little bluestem and king ranch bluestem(IG,LB and KB,C_(4) grass)were measured with detached leaves sampled in a 17-year warming *** Findings The results showed that Rd at 20℃ and 22℃(R_(20) and R_(22))were significantly lower in the warming treatment for all the five *** R_(22) in warmed than R_(20) in control in GR,KB,LB and IG imply acclimation homeostasis,but not in *** significant decline in temperature sensitivity of respiration(Q_(10))of GR resulted in the marginal reduction of Q_(10) across *** significant changes in Q_(10) of C_(4) grasses suggest different acclimation types for C_(3) forbs and C_(4) *** magnitude of acclimation positively correlated with leaf C/*** results suggest that non-legume species had a rela-tive high acclimation,although the acclimation type was different between C_(3) forbs and C_(4) grasses,and the legume species displayed no acclimation in ***,the plant functional types should be taken into account in the grassland ecosystem C models.

Evaluation of non-ampullary duodenal polyps: Comparison of non-neoplastic and neoplastic lesions

AIM: To evaluate duodenal polyps, divided into nonneoplastic and neoplastic lesions. In addition, the clinical characteristics of duodenal hyperplastic polyps are determined. METHODS: We analyzed medical records of 50 114 consecutive patients submitted to for first diagnostic esophago-gastroduodenoscopy between January 2004 and December 2009. We excluded lesions on the ampulla of Vater and submucosal tumors. We studied 510 cases that were diagnosed endoscopically with duodenal polyps and enrolled a total of 221 cases that had undergone tissue biopsy. We analyzed the differences between non-neoplastic and neoplastic lesions, and determined the clinical features of duodenal hyperplastic polyps. RESULTS: Non-neoplastic lesions were found in 196 patients and neoplastic lesions in 25 patients. On uni-variate analysis, there were significant differences in shape, location, and size. Polyps more than 10 mm in diameter or polyps in the second portion had independent risk factors for being neoplastic lesions, as identified by multivariate analysis. In 23 cases of hyperplastic polyps (79.3%), they were accompanied by gastroduodenal pathology, which was possibly associated with Helicobacter pylori . CONCLUSION: Polyps of more than 10 mm or polyps in the second portion of the duodenum should be evaluated by histological examination.
